Holac, do not be fooled by the desperation of the secessionists.

Suldaanka used to be the level headed guy, but lately he seemed to be panicking.

There is almost zero   intermingling of the Bay people and Ethiopians other than the soldiers that are stationed there. In fact other regions have more Ethiopian or Kenyan and Ugandan presence than Bay region. I could even say that there are more ethnic Amhara and Oromo who have settled in Hageisa than any where else in Somalia.

I am not kidding , but some ethnic Amhara had even joined some of the Hargeisa tribes in the nineties and were given papers. Suldaanka probably knows.

Imikana ma reer Baydhabo ayey idinla gashay. Waar duulkani waa duul cajiib ah.

Nin wax badan og ayaan ku moodi jiray. Your sources clearly failed you this time. :D

Baydhaba is the Ethiopian army capital for the whole of South Somalia. Villa Somalia office ku dhex yaal wuxu amar ka qaata the Villa Ethiopia Baydhabo ku dhex yaal. Waxa la establish gareeyay waagii RRA la dagaalami jirtay Husseen Aydeed USC/SNA.

Did the Ethiopians bring their Families? surely these are not Somalis.

After over 20 years, the kids that were born to he soldiers are now adults. You do not believe it. Baydhabo orod oo ka war keen. The first flag you need to solute as soon as you step out of the Airplane is the Ethiopian flag and Ethiopian army.

Suldaanka,

Just where did you 30%?

Probably not 30%, it could be lower or higher. You have around 20,000 Ethiopian garrison there, coupled with how they freely intermingle with the willing and welcoming populations of those regions. At a rate of intermarriage or rape case of 20%, you have a minimum of 4,000 kids born each year, multiply that by how many years of the occupation and compound it with the natural population growth graph. And you will realise 30% is not a huge estimation.

Anyway,  how do I know this? It was Professor Ibbi in a 2012 Conference, who gave a very grim reality check of South Somalia regions as a whole and in particular Gedo, bay and Bakool. He talked about a lot of things, which relate to social engineering projects that the Ethiopians are engaged in, particularly in the aspect of creating facts on the ground.

All speculation!

Are you sure you haven't confused Garre language, different May May dialects and various diverse Somalis including Ajurans who speak Borana Oromo with Amharas and Oromo?

You have no proof of  significant intermarriages between occupiers and local Somali women. Rapes do happen! Apart from few populated towns, the entire rural areas are controlled by Al-Shabab. Roads in the South and Central Somalis are cut off by Alshabab. Most Ethiopian bases are temporary  apart from Baydhabo. When Ethiopian troops move in, entire villages and towns are vacated, prime example is Ceelbuur where the entire population moved away. And unlike Puntland and Somaliland, the South has no particular affinity for Ethiopians. If anything, with a steady stream of Oromos into Puntland and Somaliland, those regions are worse positions of being out-populated.

Now if you gonna use an event as source, by that logic, the yearly celebration of Ethiopian nations nationalities day in Garowe and Hargeisa is a better indicator.

P,s

The Ethiopians in particular Oromos have gunned for the coast, Sheikh Hassan Barsane and his men pushed Amhara backed and defeated them at Ceel-Cade, Buulo-Barde and everything along Shabelle. Hordes of Oromo were defeated during Gaal-Madow wars, I really doubt isolated bases will change demographics of the south. Unfortunately, it looks like the 'peaceful' northerners and north-easterners might overwhelmed eventually and all without firing a shot.

Suldaanka made an assertion and offered no proof other than to say what an occupying force might do. And it is huge assertion to say the character and demographic of the South has changed, other than insinuation what evidence is there? Does occupation produce foreign children. Absolutely!

Now, where did 30 derived from?

If there is intermingling it would be almost automatic that:

Puntland and Somaliland would easily intermingle with north and eastern Ethiopians and Mogadishu would easily intermingle with Oromo.

As far as soldiers are concerned its normal anywhere and everywhere in the world. Soldiers are not 80 year old seniors or teen agers (hopefully not). It would not be true to say there were no Italian half casts in Mogadishu.

Suldaanka,

Unless you are counting part of the Somali population out of your kind, as there is such a thing in every country, the percentage you put has bad meaning. You are excluding a certain Somalis.

We will see when the port free trade zone etc gets built and functioning (Which I do not think will go according to the marketing and UAE and Djibouti will make up for their Arab childish nik naking) Somalilanders and Habeshi will be borderless in everything. I am told that students from Somaliland and Puntland in Ethiopian colleges don't feel or act as foreigners.

In Somaliland there will be Habeshi fashion and in Ethiopia there will be Somaliland fashion. Within a year the hairdo of women will be intermingled and mixed. Oodweyne will be dancing to Tigray music as theSudanese do now and the Tigray will be dancing to Somali music as they do right now.

That is a curse, mate. :D

In other word, although I wouldn't wish to have anything to do with Qadaadweyn, Gudhuu, and the rest of the Af-Garanwaa, but, if the choise (of the political kind) for

Its just entertainment music nothing political. The Habeshi dance to Somali music as it is almost every part of Ethiopia now. The north Ethiopia also dance to Sudanese music as do the Sudanese with Habeshi music.

What would be so strange for a Somalilander to do the same, forced by commerce. Ports and military are very close culturally. Can adapt to every customer or client very rapidly.

It is official. The era of despot Cabdi Illey is over in the Somali region.
After closed door deliberations, the DDSI party had elected Mr. Ahmed Shide as the new leader which officially ends the 11 year painful rule of Illey.
This selection will pave Mr. Shide as the new president of the region very soon. Also, the Liyu police has been disbanded as the security force of the Somali region. For the last few days the Liyu have been looting and pillaging communities while abandoning their positions.
Also, members of Illey family are been investigated by the authorities for the theft of millions of dollars.
It is an end of a painful chapters for a lot of Somalia. A very small group of blood thirsty group,  created and organised by the Tplf and Cabdi Illey have been overthrow thanks to the Oromo uprising. While many Somali including my self were looking to preserve the old order for the sake order and continuity, millions of Somalia want the total demise and the removal of the tyrants who oppressed them for so long. Just like the Oromo celebrated the demise of the Tplf order, for the millions of Somalis the end of Illey and his henchmen is a great relief and a new era of freedom.

There were some security concern about the disbanding of the Liyu police and the threat of anarchy and outlaws in the countryside, yet for most people, their disbanding was a relief. Analysts believe that the Liyu is too criminal or murderous to be a force that might fight for independence or even tribal reasons. They were trained to kill and abuse Somali and will not be needed in a land where people are seeking justice and freedom.
It is mind boggling how a small ruthless group had managed to oppress and control millions of Somalia for so long. They acted like there is no one else but themselves.
Now, Illey and his supporters must accept the new order and collaborae for the peace and development of all Somali. He and Tplf wanted to finish off the Somali and createa long  civil war between the Somali and Oromo. There were a lot of victims, but we hope the worst to be over. He gambled to the lives of thousands of Somali to save the Tplf order. After he lost the gamble, he continued to the destructive route until it is too late.

      Very sad news.

Nothing is known yet from the police, but the media is reporting that he died from gun shot and the hand gun colt has been found in the car.

      galbeedi,
Why didn't you bring the most important news for you, the oil well to be drilled announced by Abiy?
Why this go around to bring civil war among Somalis? What do you gain?
Why is the area where the pipeline to pass more useful to you than the area where the prospective well is?

Why cover with Iley why not say the main motivation for you the trade route?
