It has come to the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport’s attention an alleged investment agreement between DP World, the state of Somaliland and the Federal Republic of Ethiopia regarding the port of Berbera, in which DP world would hold 51% stake where Ethiopia would acquire 19%.

The Ministry, as a representative of the Federal Government of Somalia on issues regarding ports and

marine transport clarifies that;

Office of the Minister

1. The Federal Government of Somalia is not party to this so-called investment agreement

2. This so-called agreement is both defective and detrimental to the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the unity of the country

3. The terms of this deal contravene procedure and are in blatant breach of the Provisional Constitution Somalia.

The Ministry therefore, considering the above factors declares this deal as non-existent, null and void.

The Federal Government of Somalia welcomes investment and development of trade and infrastructure, but always with strict adherence to the rule of law and procedures set by the government’s institutions, and with oversight from the federal parliament

Not worth even the piece of paper its written on.

Anyway, coming back to the 3 points listed.

Point 1. that Villa Somalia is no party to the agreement. Trashes some fake news that say Khaire was involved. (Was laughable to say the least).

Point 2: Reiterates Somaliland's position very well.

Point 3: Somaliland has never been a part to any kind of constitution post 1960. You can throw the constitution in the garbage bin.

Wait... could this become the longest lasting joke ever? The "non-existent" "null & void" that keep attracting investment for the next 30 years.

Hadal waa raqiis, habar walba typewriter waa haysataa... let me know when the phantom government does anything worthy of a threat. Just writing "null & void" won't change anything from the facts on the ground.

On a serieous note. SFG should just file a document with UN, Arab Leaugue, AU send copy to UAE, Ethiopia and Somaliland stating that so long as Somaliland is part of Somalia all international agreements not ratified by Paeliament are invalid.

But then again all agreements done with Turkey, UAE, America...from Mogadishu are also invalid since not even raised in Parliament.

People living in glass houses should not be first to throw stones.

I bet you Somalia has agreed with UAE and arranged same propaganda and public consumption as Egypt does. Example Egypt cannot send a brigade into Sinai without Israel's permission. Cannot fly fighter jet in Sinai. This is never told to people. SFG should just file legal papaers for future generation or governments if one can stand on its two feet to negotiate in future.

The deeply layered and the multi-threads "warmed fiction" some desperate unionists folks, like our colleague, Mr Maakhir, tells themselves is staggering to behold. And it's indeed the stuff in which actually the yearly "Booker prize of fiction" was invented for it.

And by that I mean he actually thinks that a public relation letter released by a toothless government in Mogadishu, that also is beholden to the very country that is party to this deal, namely Ethiopia which in turn gets to be "dictate" to them on a daily basis, can actually stops this kind of "trilateral investment deal".

And what is more surprising is the sight of seeing these unionists folks actually holding the "view" that says some alleged government in Mogadishu can stops this deal, despite the fact that it was the same government of Mogadishu in which Ethiopian's government (a partner in this deal) have actually ordered them to "hand-over" a mere Somali citizen by the name of Qalbi-Dhagax, because Ethiopia had a problem with him.

Much less said about that government in Mogadishu having the means to stop this kind of multi-millions financial investment in which the same Ethiopian's government that "orders" them about is party to it.

Moreover, this letter is actually (if we remind ourselves) from a government in Mogadishu that is living off from the financial hands-out of the same government that is party to this deal (at least behind the scene sense of it). And that is, namely, the parent political state of the DP World, which is the UAE.

And to boot, it's the same freaking government their Prime-Minister, Mr Kheyre, is there with them to this day, literally begging them to give him and his government some more financial hand-out, just so that they can "survive" in Mogadishu at least till the end of the year.

And to see all these "plain facts" before you and still see some of our unionists folks still clutching this sort of a "dead-letter" as a token of a missive from alleged government in Mogadishu, as if that "pseudo-government" can "nullify" anything under the sun is really a sight to see.

And it speaks only the sheer defeated sense of the unionists folks have in here, whereby their subsequent desperation in which they seems to have gotten from that political defeat seems to have convinced them to clutch a fiction of this kind.

And finally, these unionists folks actually believe (and I mean deeply believe) that this kind of a deal can be stopped with a dead letter from a toothless government holed up (for dear life itself) in Villa Somalia. When in fact some of the most influential members of the Powers-that-be in the world, which in turn actually keep that government in Mogadishu "safe" in Villa Somalia (through their political support and financial contribution) are actually standing behind it.

And they standing behind this "deal" since it's to their "strategical interests" for the port of Berberra not to fall into the Chinese's agenda of the Red-Sea. Or to the Turkish's ever expanding strategical footprints in this area of the Globe.

Consequently, to see our politically defeated unionists folks, clutching this desperate last straw of a fictional kind, actually makes one wince for them. Since one knows in one's heart that this "dead-letter" from the toothless federal government of Somalia will have as much of usefulness (or impact) for them as that of used toilet paper.

This whole thing is so humiliating for all Somalis. I am sure Somalilanders are not that happy the way it got concluded, But the fault clearly lies in Mogadishu.

If the PM was intending to get few million dollars from UAE using the occasion, it won't work.

      Dear Mogadishu,
I am saddened to learn another horror visited upon you the other day in the heart of your once beautiful downtown. I have a fond recollection of the area — Cinema Centrale, Croce Del Sud, Ufficio Governo, and the classic fashion shops. I understand it was going through renovations and witnessing a renewed sense of hope and revitalized spirits.
I am sorry about what the merchants of death and destruction have brought to you. In their twisted, evil logic, they benefit from the atrocity and the violence they foist on you; their survival lies in keeping you in a perpetual cycle of death and destruction. I know your residents are a tough, resilient lot; they braved through so many calamities, but I do not think, for a minute, it is the West that is behind your misfortune. You are just a blip in the West's radar. The culprit is in the midst of the poor, honest, hardworking folks of yours. It is another Somali — a coward, a depraved soul, bereft of morals, hiding behind a variety of masks. He has poisoned your culture and ethics, destroyed your honor and dignity, brainwashed your children, and soiled your reputation. But let me tell you, he is on a borrowed time. Your people are becoming aware and exposed to the outside world, and your youth, ever more educated, restless, believing and demanding a better future.
Dear Mogadishu, keep the faith and hope alive, your people will triumph soon and take good care of you!

      Hi all,
I came across a website which talks about the benefits of giving gifts (it releases dopamine and endorphins in the brain which makes us feel good) on the Somali Gifts company website (http://somaligifts.co.uk) and wondered how many Somali's actually give gifts to each other and what these gifts are?
I would love to get your thoughts on this topic so please give me a hand and fill out the Survey attached :)!

      Many thanks all!

The UNSOM quickly edits their reference of Hargeisa from a "City in northern part of the country" into just "Hargeisa" in an hour.
