The Legacy of Said Barre, 77 War of Liberation, and the death of a Nation.

Our history as Somalis is a long one, a history with Kings, and Sultanate Dynasties, a history of both honor and humiliations, of a rise to glory and a fall to slavery, one thing is clear from the time of freedom fighter AhmedGure to the present time of the 21st century, Somalia as we know it from north to south-coast to coast was never a united nation, a united peoples, under One Flag, with one leadership, and stability for more then a decade except during the tenure of Jalle Comrade, President, Commander and Chief of Somalia Said Barre. In history, Somalis either were, under Kingships part of the land, warring factions over water, territory, poor camal crazing nomads or under the oppression of colonization. Somalia has produced various Sultanate Dynasties, independent nomadic peoples, fierce warriors as the Darwish of Sayidka that fought superior foes to the death wit the belief never to surrender to your oppressors, but in this proud history of glory, none of those champions were to ever unite the entire nation, build a civilization, raise the strongest army of Africa, and give the somali people from coast to coast of all clans the most precious elements to life: peace, security, and prosperity on a global scale for more then a decade, this has happened from the past to the present only under the leadership of Said Barre. Some remember him for the bad that occurred under his tenure, but it remains fact that in our country’s history it was only under the leadership of Said Barre that Somalia as a whole for more then a decade enjoined peace, security, and prosperity like never before, and never since. The Legacy of Said Barre.

: An army of a nation rises, brothers united in freeing their captive brethren and land from the colonization of Ethiopia. Somalia easily overwhelms the Ethiopians in battle, they are no match for the finest and bravest of Africa, after their defeat and our chance for victory, the Ethiopians are aided by the superpowers and even man-powered by the Cubans, the war of liberation is crushed in the Ogade*n, the first chapters to internal destruction of the Somlia Nation begin to be written as soldiers head back to the Capital, a capital they once swore to defend but would eventually actively participate in its destruction. The economy starts to shrink, corruption increases ten fold, dissidents are silenced, clanism arms itself to the teeth....somalia is headed to doom. It goes from a country- the glory of Africa, a nation that wows the globe wit great potential, a proud people under one flag......to a nation that tortures its own citizens and shelled its own people killing thousands....the road to destruction of somalia starts in Hergeysa, reaches Mudag, and finally explodes in Mogadishu with the overthrow of the Nation to the welcome of anarchy, chaos, powerful warlords, killings of the innocent, dishoners of dumarka somaliyeed, oppression of the weak, genocide of brethren, and their people become refugees of the world. The death of a nation. And the saga continues, the same enemy fought by the army of somalia to free the ******, welcomed to do the shelling of Mogadishu the great capital of somalia, the secessionists push to divide the country to pieces, the sleeping with the enemy from hergeyso to kismaayo, their nation bleeds, their people full of wounds and helpless, divided and pitted against each other, hate for brother love for their common enemy. The blame is theirs, it is all of theirs for not writing the next chapters to the story of Somalia, their story, the story of their forefathers who shed precious blood to free them from colonial oppression and raised for them
. Shame on them.

there was neva a nationalistic gov't, the Somali army was murderous to its people ,that's if you care about Somali people and not hung up with Siyaad Barre's tribalistic dynasty. The Somali army run by Barre ,Samater,Morgan etc bombed Hargeisa and Burao, his 2nd and 3rd largest cities from the air and the ground. They massacred the best & bravest somali officers and soldiers inside Ethiopia and ofc these helpless patriots were from certain clans. It was a mafia run state since from 60s and was meant to fail by the all mighty. Those who grew up in the king's palace think the grass was greener everywhere.

It's easy to blame the soviets ad te Cubans but like Bura said the real failure lay at the incompetence of the somali govenement. During the Cold War both the Soviet Union and the United States supported Ethiopia this shows the level of incompetence. Mingustu choose a path and stuck to it building alliances along the way. While the somali military whose top rankin officers were there because of tribe more then competence killed the best and bravest the top divisions in the somali army as reported during the war were the northern divisions. The failure to build alliances saw even yemen join the support of Ethiopia.

D block stupidity led to the defeat of Somalis to Ethiopia and d block stupidity led to the civil war and d block stupidity led to the collapes of Somalia and hag stupidity killed what was left

The end

You're acting as if there were no I-Block members in Siyad Barre's government. You have got to be kidding me CidanSultan.

The blame goes on all sides, and your tribe isn't blameless. Everyone's hands are dirty

Everyone knows who was in control history doesn't lie. the somali republic lost to Ethiopia because of strategic objective and planning to win and build alliances and the failure was so wide they failed to play the soviets against the Americans. Te Somali republic was a d block state we all know this everyone knows this. Siad barre favoured hiss block in obvious ways and even then severe restrictions were put on place in what was then the northern regions: after the war all the top brass of the northern battalions were killed as they were a threat.

So in all honousty is duriayada free from blame when it comes to te dictatorship yes... Pure and simple no blood on our hands.

Today hag keeps Somalia down

And in this respect we have no historical or current blood on our Hands.

Cidansuldan do you know that when puntlanders who are known to fight for their right rose up against siyad barre, it was SNM clan stupidity that made them support siyad barre. when puntlanders were being massacred and chased by siyad regime, the top generals and most of soldiers who were operating in galkacyo, garowe ordering system arrests, murder and robbery were somalilanders.

history is history niyoow. you can't change it.

Authubilahi mina shaytani rajim

Why can't you just admit that all tribes in Somalia have their faults, and all have blood on their hands? When an I-Block Somali commits a crime, you dismiss it as an isolated case. But when a D-Block Somali does the same thing, you want to make it appear systematic.

You do realize that Siyad Barre persecuted members of Sheikh Sharif's clan right? AND he persecuted members of Aideed's clan. Do you realize Siyad Barre went to Puntland and killed thousands of MJ Somalis, killed their livestock and poisoned their wells? That's him killing his fellow "D-Block" members.

And look at his Cabinet, look at his Military. It was full of I-Block Somalis from Hargeisa. This is at a time when thousands upon thousands of MJ Somalis had to seek refuge in Italy because they feared for their own safety. In reality, Siyad Barre didn't give a shit about D-Block, and you know it. His actions speak for themselves

You make history look as if it's black and white, when reality is more complicated than that.

It's true Barre persecuted MJ's but later a deal was made that D block was one and they were compensated with cash, top positions and incentives among thm was the road to Bosaso and an international port be built there which ofc neva get off the ground as the then northern fight intensified and cash straped Siyad couldn't fulfill.Siyad succeeded in unifying his clan against otha Somalis.

My obsession will never end, because the Somalia-Ethiopian War was the greatest victory of the Cuban Army in a war.

Nobody can change What happened in 1977.

Why dont you show me sources which prove Somalia won Ethiopian/Somali War?

^ Hey I like Cuba and the Cubans despite the short war between us. But I think it is time you let the bygone be bygone and tell us what is going on in Cuba right now.

Cubano, you like cigars? lool.

Somalia captured hundreds of Cuban communist fighters during the 1977 war. My father told me that the Cubans fighters were physically so out of shape and fat, that Somalis used to called them naasdheer meaning Cubans with "long breasts". Why did Castro send mercenaries that were so out of shape to fight against the lean, mean Somalis?
