Juje. I hope the problem in the deep south subsides too but remember no one has thus far blamed the south of Galkaio folks for the tragedy.

^^^Exactly Juje as the brother said no one and least of all Duke blamed the clans of Galmudug for this issue. You are trying to start something, maybe bored in the bunker?

^^^Thus I will excuse you not reading my comments and making accusations, in Galkacyu there is peace, and criminal issues will be dealt with by all clans and for the betterment of all. Thus dont wish for war lad, you have one already.

Criminals have no clans. May you find the killers of the minister.

When Faroole privately communicated some hard reality to an assembly of Reer Galkacyo elders in Minneapolis, few felt rather slighted in that private meeting with the President. That Galkacyo is the "wild wild west" of peaceable Puntland was never President Faroole's callous depiction. Rather, it is a label the city has justly earned as government officers, elders and a countless number of its good citizens are casually hunted on a daily basis. The same folks who wished to see Faroole bow to the altar of clannish correctness when describing their inadequacy, are now repeating their by now familiar litany of excuses for Galkacyo’s predicament. It is sad indeed!

People calm down, Galkio is as peaceful as any city in the world. Killing of one minster does not change the reality on the ground. You rarely see any one with guns or hear any gun shots. People go about their business as any other city. Tell me a city as big as Galkio is that crimes don't happen.

Thankful

Even Garoweonline knows this is not some tribal fighting or a daily occurrence. It can't be diminished in anyway. Yes there has been attacks and revenge killings. But to specifically target a government minister is unheard of in our history. This act was a direct message to the government. It was an attack on the state. Things are very serious right now.

Somalia: Puntland Information Minister Killing

6 Aug 6, 2009 - 4:14:40 AM

PRESS RELEASE

Today, Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 12:30pm the Puntland Minister for Information, Telecommunication, Tradition and Culture, Mr. Warsame Abdi Shirwa, was shot in an organized killing in Galkayo, the provincial capital of Mudug.

May Allah have mercy on his soul, the Minister was part of a large delegation representing Puntland government branches who have been in Mudug Region for one month on issues relating to the region's security. As is well known, Mudug Region shares a border with the Central Regions in Somalia and Somali Regional State in Ethiopia and Galkayo has seen organized killings in the past targeting society's worthy individuals including traditional elders, intellectuals, businesspeople and government officials.

The Puntland Council of Ministers held an emergency meeting this afternoon and recognized the killing as politically motivated, despite whoever was used to committ the crime, and the intention was to hurt the security, stability and reputation of Puntland. An investigation is underway to arrest whoever was behind this brutal killing and to bring them to justice.

The Council of Ministers sends condolences to the family, relatives and generally the people of Somalia and particularly the people of Puntland, who lost a Minister. We pray to Allah that He admit him to Janatul Firdowsa. May Allah give the rest of us patience and faith. Amin. Amin. Amin.

The late minister’s assassination was apparently a calculated and well-orchestrated plan to avenge for a killing that happened few weeks back. It started from an incident that happened when the Governor of Mudug tried to disperse a group of criminals that had erected a roadblock on a place called Cagaaran, Northwest of the city. He (the governor) was fired at and one of his staff (don’t know whether he was a low official or bodyguard) was killed. The said road blockers apparently happened to be from the same sub-clan as the marxuunka (minister.) The killers were not apprehended, and the two sub clans agreed to settle things down in traditional Somali way (mag.)

Fast forward yesterday, 4 men dressed in police uniform and believed to be from the same sub clan as the man who was killed few weeks back, shot and killed the minister in broad day light. Now there are many questions that arise and need to be looked at. Where does the Puntland admin stand on this and how will it deal? Will it let the sub clans settle things in a peaceful manner or will it try to arrest the killers and bring them to justice (all of them, the said 4 killers of the minister and previous ones?) Will the two killings cancel each other despite the fact the deceased two men did not held an equal status in the eyes of PL admin or the greater public. All in all, I hope things don’t get out of hand and the sanity to prevail.

^^^You kill a minister you attack the state, this is nothing to do with the sub-clan issue. Also even if we were to look at a clan issue this man was the most important leader of an important grouping. Will they let it go? NO.
