Tuujiye as usual waad iska haadsha, I do not think you realise how serious it is to call someone a gaal. Maxa ka shaan iyo tooban aah what he is in any case? Why are you stuck on this? Adigu ha ku gaalobin, and I say this as someone who knows better than YOU.

You are following this nomad around, insulting and calling them names. This is a free forum for all who stay in line with its rules, no one made you the police. If you want to talk about Islam and who is Islamic, you can scrutinised your own actions, for even in this forum you have written things that would make some Muslims turn blue- just look at your cantrabaqash and ill conduct on this forum and tell me that is a model behaviour for a Muslim.

As for the topic, Khad is like alcohol.

The two Gs and Karl made some good points, alcohol is not in the same league as khat. However, people in both parts of the world consume them in a social setting. Yes, alcohol can intoxicate a person when one takes in too much of it, while khat abuse causes the impairment of concentration and judgement.

As for Gheele's two questions of: How khat intoxicates people? I suggest reading the first and last of the scholarly articles I linked. And as for the second one whether the same can be said of khat as what is said of alcohol in the Holy Book, then certainly, if one reads the Prophet's saying that "Every intoxicant is Khamr, and every Khamr is haram" then it is clear that khat can be placed in that category.

Muslims who think it's allowable are not any different than the ones who consume small quantities of alcohol stating that since they are not intoxicated then it is OK to drink.

^I read those article and wasn't convinced. There are so many holes in the research it self. Can we safely say that bad roads and bad truck drivers are the causes of accidents in Ethiopia rather consumption of Hareri? As for you alcohol analogy, it doesn't cut with me, try again. How much is too much? What about the brand, the percentage of spirit, and the size of the person drinking it?

Waraa yaan ku wareerin kow dheh. I don't chew khat and don't care who sells it or buys it. Ban it or burned it. Allow it or regulate it. At the end of the day it will come down to one's personal choice of chewing it or staying away from it. So who cares.

Regarding Islam and khat, then, this is an extremely peculiar case. Islam bans any forms of intoxicants. Yet, bizzarely, converting to Islam in the horn of Africa, particularly amongst the Oromo, meant adopting "Muslim cultures" such as chewing khat. The Ethiopians started to become suspicious of the Emperior Ilyasu because he started to chew khat and socialise with Muslims. It is also widely believed that Khat use was a widespread habit of "sufi" mystics. How khat become so prevalant amongst Muslims socities in Yemen and the Horn Africa needs more research.

Somali people will not accept foreigners telling them what they can do and cannot do. If we want to chew khat we will and will not accept people coming to our country tell us what we can do and cannot do.

Ciyaal kuni kuni, jaad maxaad ka garaneysan?

Jaad waa geed nacfi leh, of course all chemicals become harmful if one abuses it.

Having said that, this is an individual choice,we need to educate the public on its side effects. And if someone chooses to indulge, then shauri yake baan lehna smile.gif

I don't run around act like I know the religion because I don't as much as some people in here but I make more sense than you and this Gaal guy... I might joke around (some thing your missing in life) but when it comes to faith, I don't argue un like you and I hate does that argue about it and question everything about the faith specialy when they non believers. I think Ailamos is very smart and wise but the way he questions my faith is very munaafiq nimo when he knows the answers and thats why I argue with him.. no wonder why Layzie was on your case lol... please don't start with me and run to the mods as you always do...I didn't break any rules so nice try too... I been here longer than you young one and don't think anyone will agree to your B.S
