  1. Excellent news! Muslims are progressing in the field of technological divorces but are degenerates in the fields of piety, unity and social welfare, just to name a few. P.S. The good thing is that with a text message divorce, one avoids confrontation and all the dramas that come with it.
  2. Dude, in Canada, they have something called 'freedom of expression.' These people - the Somali protesters - are allowed to express their opinion regarding the illegal executions of Somalis in Saudi Arabia. No, Somalis in Saudi Arabia - or anywhere else in the Arabian Peninsula - can't openly protest because they're not allowed to. Let them protest against a cruel and unusual punishment inflicted upon of their fellow citizens. P.S. When will you come to your senses and see the truth on the other side of the 'aisle' - so to speak?

  4. Muqdisho inay caasimadda Soomaliya tahay qof kasta oo Soomaali ahi waa ogyahay, ummadda ay magaalo madaxda u tahayna waxay ku qabaan kalsooni ah inay u qalanto inay xarunta Soomaaliya ku sii boqranaato. Dadkuna si gaar ah ayeeyba Xamar u jecel yihiin. Very true statement. Haddaba, Haddii ay jirto cid caasimadnimada Muqdisho duullaan ku ahi aan is weeydiinee, maxay uga hadli weydey markii Axdiga qaranka la dejinayey. Kuwa dareenka dadweynaha ee nabadda iyo dawladnimada u ooman tashuushka ku furayaa ma waxay diiddan yihiin in barnaamij tifaftiran oo dawladeed ammaanka caasimadda wax lagaga qabto. 6. Man, when will they quit whining about how they're the orphans of the English queen?
  7. Hmm...*scratches his head* Why, oh why, is AYOUB against a positive report regarding his beloved "Somaliland." Let's review a couple of excerpts: Sheekooyinka joogtada ah waxaa kamid ahaa khilaafka Siyaasadeed ee u dhaxeeya Dowladda Nairobi lagu dhisay. Shacabku wuxuu la jiray kooxaha diidan in Itoobiya la keeno gudaha Soomaaliya. AND... Arintii Samsam ayaa ahayd sheekooyinka loogu hadal haynta badanyahay. A true Lander - wouldn't like neither of the above statements. He wonders: Why don't they (Hargaysa citizens) talk about Riyaale's dysfunctional administration, namely his dictatorship-style aggressions against the free press and the political parties, or his (mis)management of the mythical 'eastern' border dispute, or...? Why are they (Hargaysa citizens - in a class of their own, above and beyond the rest of Somalis) concerned with the issue of Ethiopian peacekeepers when IGAD had already ruled out ANY peacekeepers from landing in territory designated as "Somaliland"? He can't figure it out. He scratches his head and he's even more confused. Why oh why..
  8. JAMAAL - Thanks for the explanation. I see where you're coming from now. Mass education is needed to enlighten the people. You have to understand that nomadic culture is still a strict and dominant part of Somali lifestyle. Back home, people haven't fully urbanized - only in urban centers can a Somali nomad find access to education, careers and a brighter future. In a way, we're still awaiting our eventual urbanization that would create a free-thinking society because everyone would be granted access to the institutions that breed a new generation composed of an educated class (remember, in Somalia, the educated class is still a minority). I, however, doubt delaying early marriage will have a positive effect on Somalis' growth into their human identity. Early marriage is an institution designed to safeguard the Islamic morals we hold so dear - marriage at a young age calms one's hormones, so to speak, and therefore they potentially avoid engaging in haram acts and giving birth to an immoral society.
  9. What a biased piece of junk! Read what this educated Westerner wrote: In the Middle East for example, people live in a fantasy world where they have been coddled and pampered by the West like a spoiled child who never has to struggle for anything but has everything handed to him. Just as the child loses his connection to the reality of having to make choices in order to live a productive and fulfilling life, so the Mideast has lost its connection to the consequences of the ideas they hold - death and destruction. The only thing the Mideast produces is oil and the West sends billions of dollars in aid thereby propping up regimes that are antithetical to our interests and safety. First, she compares the Middle East to a child and, to add insult to injury, says the ideas the Mideast hold dear are "death and destruction." WTF! The only thing the Mideast is good at is producing oil - which is, of course, natural. And the combined GNP of the entire Muslim world is less than half (1/2) of Germany's! But the tone of her piece is set when she writes: the West sends billions of dollars in aid thereby propping up regimes that are antithetical to our interests and safety. For her, its not about the Muslim world and its well-being - she's overtly more concerned for the well-being of the West. In essence, the writer's wondering why the West - since they're the puppet masters of the Mideast - isn't doing more to curb regimes which are, in her view, a threat to Western civilization. This kinda writer puts Nazi propagandists to shame!
  10. ^^ Adi waxaad ka hadleysid garanmaayo. You need to be more clear. Originally posted by NGONGE: Nor am I here to banish your unreasonable hatred of anything Arab. Glad to hear it. You'll only tire yourself Originally posted by NGONGE: I was only pointing out what took place in history, not opinion but indisputable facts. Okay, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc. helped Somalia during the war. Have I disputed this fact? No. I want you to admit that Yemen provided MAN and MATERIAL to Ethiopia during the 1977-78 war or does your love for anything Arab blind you from this very important and indisputable fact? FOR CONTEXT: After watching Ethiopian events in 1975-76, the Soviet Union concluded that the revolution would lead to the establishment of an authentic Marxist-Leninist state and that, for geopolitical purposes, it was wise to transfer Soviet interests to Ethiopia. To this end, Moscow secretly promised the Derg military aid on condition that it renounce the alliance with the United States. Mengistu, believing that the Soviet Union's revolutionary history of national reconstruction was in keeping with Ethiopia's political goals, closed down the U.S. military mission and the communications centre in April 1977. In September, Moscow suspended all military aid to the aggressor, began openly to deliver weapons to Addis Ababa, and reassigned military advisers from Somalia to Ethiopia. This Soviet volte-face also gained Ethiopia important support from North Korea, which trained a People's Militia, and from Cuba and the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, which provided infantry, pilots, and armoured units. By March 1978, Ethiopia and its allies regained control over the ******.
  11. Is this guy serious? He's saying Mogadishu leads the nation (Somalia/land) in education, healthcare, commerce, etc. - but conveniently forgets the sea/airports are closed. He's saying Ethiopia should be blamed for giving arms to the various Mogadishu warlords - Ethiopia or the warlords should be blamed? I'd blame the warlords for getting weapons from Ethiopia to use against their own Somali citizens. And Mudug should be blamed because they've exported "destitute children." WTF is he on? Whoever hands this lunatic a Ph.D is another lunatic-in-waiting. READ ON: ------------------------------------------------- Scapegoating Muqdishu and Its People for the National Failure Said Shiiq april 22 , 2005 An increasing new phenomenon that scapegoats Muqdishu and its people for the Somali national failure is registering an astounding number that requires an immediate attention. With the birth of the World Wide Web and its recent introduction to Somalis, a number of freelance writers label slander against the people of Muqdishu only to satisfy their venting desires. Muqdishu, the ailing capital of Somalia , was always a cosmopolitan that housed nearly everyone from all walks of Somali society, but, alas, always depressingly suffered from an extra-ordinary outsourcing of bad apples from other regions in the country and Ethiopia . Not only that this new phenomenon targets Muqdishans but it, awkwardly enough, often extends to distinguished persons who their main fault is performing their national duty, or, simply expressing their God-granted viewpoints. The speaker of the House, Dr. Sifir, Prof. Samatars (the brothers), Dr. Galayr and the Head of the BBC Somali Section, just to name few, are prime targets of those articles authored by individuals I can only term as the new neo-supremacists. Scapegoating Muqdishans for the national failure, meanwhile, is, resoundingly uncharacteristic, granted that Muqdishu was never emancipated from external elements. Time and again, displaced bloggers (website users) scattered around Europe and North America utilized their sharp pen to blame Muqdishu, or more bluntly, the USC tribe for the failure of the nation state Somalia . This phenomenon appears to have gained fresh momentum since the historic parliamentarian vote that, on March 17 th , with overwhelming majority, outvoted troops from the so-called Frontline States. Persons of non-****** are often sandwiched with the blame so long they appear to have partaken, or just theoretically supported that process. Sharif Hassan, the bold speaker of the house is a case in point. Some Puntland bloggers published pseudo-public demand asking the speaker to resign, as though, “the publicâ€, is, only from their territory. Mohamed Ibrahim (Xaabsade), the de facto ruler of Baidao, Riyale of Somaliland and, to the dismay of many Somalis, Dr. Sifir, the Information Minister of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG), men with apparent opposing political dimensions, were all sandwiched for the blame. The latter was the last victim of the ongoing defamation against respected leaders of Somalia orchestrated by the new neo-supremacists. Who is to be blamed for the national failure? The fatally-ill bloggers often associate USC with the failure of nearly 14 National Reconciliation Conferences, while crediting Abdullahi Yusuf, or, in euphemism, the Puntland/Gedo clan as a whole, for restoring system of governance in Somalia . That claim falls short of credibility in essence. Contemporary historic records indicate vise versa. Nearly all of those conferences were cleverly aborted by Somalia 's staunch foe: Ethiopia , utilizing men of our ilk. Ethiopia undone all 14 efforts only to install its own puppet: Col. Abdullahi Yusuf. Six months after he succeeded to head Somalia , the finding father of warlordism in Somalia , Mr. Yusuf sought to fulfill Ethiopia 's century old dream: Physically occupying Somalia . Luckily, patriotic MP's, disproportionately Muqdishans, rejected that motion democratically albeit sustaining minor scars from globally aired brawl. Col. Yusuf had confessed aborting Cairo attempt in 1998, Arta fruits in 2000 (publicly aired audios confirm this). These two attempts, especially Arta, were perhaps the most conducive resolution since 1991. Moreover, Mr. Yusuf brags about being the first to shoot an Ethiopian bullet against Somalia 's then otherwise strong government from the save havens of Ethiopia , almost 30 years ago. The BBC Somali Section: A Prime Target? Yusuf Garaad Another prime target of the new neo-supremacists is the Somali Section of the BBC and its deft Chief Editor, Yusuf Garad. Almost all of the articles by those pathetic bloggers adjoin Mr. Garad to the historic parliamentarian vote against Frontline States. Others simply can't stand the BBC's redemption to higher standards of news making and the streamlining of its reporters, which was long overdue. Cognizant that Mr. Garad is the first ****** editor of BBC Somali Section since its inception over half of a century ago; the new neo-supremacists envy his fresh and sober leadership and, are intolerant of a voice other than their ilk. Even British critics agree that Mr. Garad rejuvenated the Somali Service by redeeming today's technology. His boss, who hired him among several candidates solely for his qualifications not in accordance with 4.5 distribution method, commends him for engineering to install FM short waves of the BBC throughout major cities in Somalia . Besides the programming and the technical aspect of the BBC, Mr. Garad, a seldom brilliant mid-aged man who fluently speaks English, French and Italian not to mention his native Somali, correctly overhauled the staff of the Somali Section by requesting old folks to opt-out for an early retirement, or, reassigning them to a less impacting broadcastings such as Obituaries, Music programs and a free Bush House hang-outs, while recruiting a fleet of younger and more qualified generation of reporters that are representative of the Somali society. Unlike the hay days, the BBC's lexicon of popular staff names is, for the first time, in fair balance. Perhaps the most quintessence of Mr. Garad's achievement during his tenure is his robust standardization of the “acceptable dialect†within the BBC to a non-northern, non-Mudug one, contrary to five decades of predominantly Northern and Mudug dialects. Reserving the largest audience amongst Somalis, the BBC's standard dialect is finally adjusted to a pure Somali one, period. Muqdishu Survives Despite Outsourcing. Mr. Aden Adde Muqdishu, however, gave a birth to distinguished leaders and, spearheaded the independence efforts for over 300 years. She [Muqdishu] prides with men such as Adan Abdullahi Osman (Adan Adde) – The father of democracy in Africa and Somalia 's first president. His tenure, according to scholars (see Bildhaan Journal of Minnesota ) was the most stable and progressive politically in Somalia 's post independence history. Muqdishu also takes a pride in housing SYL (Somali Youth League) – the vehicle of the independence itself. Even amid the ashes of the civil war, Muqdishu leads the whole nation in commerce, technology, education and healthcare. And, splendidly enough, Muqdishu exports goods such as clothes, food, electronics and so on to the neighboring countries in the Horn of Africa, including the quasi-hegemony: Ethiopia- A solid confirmation of Muqdishu's disposition. While Muqdishu is booming with exports, it suffers from human imports from Mudug and arms – including land mine shipments from Addis Ababa . The despot, Mohamed Siyad Barre, zigzagged in the city for 21 years burying its people underground and assigning his kinsmen to a governmental password that enabled them to use the system as their ATM (Automated Teller Machine). He was another wicked export to the city. The warlords after him fattened their clumsy agenda's by milking Ethiopia 's arms outsource. It seems, nevertheless, that ex-warlords are now awakened by Ethiopia 's conspiracy. Their efforts to stabilize the city are met with substantial setbacks from the president himself. Yet, they appear to be securing amble progress. Conclusion. The Somali national failure, in the end, can't be associated with Muqdishu and its patriotic citizens; quite the contrary, Muqdishu has had pioneered in freedom fighting both prior and post independence. The natives of the city, due to their utmost hospitality, are the victim of an extra-ordinary outsource from other regions in the country, Mudug being the most to export its destitute children. Ethiopia , on the other hand, has had a vested interest in the destabilization of the capital for fear of resurrection of nation state Somalia that could subsequently reclaim the occupied Somali territories inside its porous borders. Distinguished Somali politicians and academicians who are the prime targets of those new neo-supremacists should stay in the course; the skillful head of the BBC Somali Section should continue to impress his audiences by delivering splendid journalism. Most importantly, he should seriously undertake the responsibility of overhauling the Somali Section. The rest of Somalis should be awakened to this new phenomenon. Muqdishu, meanwhile, will remain the Mecca of Somalia in the foreseeable future albeit potential risks. Muqdishans, on the other hand, will recover their pride while protecting national borders. 12. Aren't the Yibir descendants of Jews or something? Sounds like an interesting read once again reminding the world the terribleness of Somali culture and how it marginalizes minorities. What culture in the world is all-inclusive and doesn't marginalize any of its members?
  13. ^^ That's all good to hear sxb but Yemen provided man and material to support Ethiopia in its war against Somalia. Compare the two: military hardware and logistical support from Arab states vs. Yemeni military MANPOWER and material to Ethiopia. At the end of the day, the Arabs made very clear where their support lies.
  14. Human and animalistic identity, from your definition, are two sides of the same coin. One can't get rid of his animalistic (biological) identity because its how he was born and raised - we're all shaped by our circumstances. Originally posted by J'maal11: The problem of being part of a collective entity is that the members are neither questioned nor assigned a clear role to play. And how does role-playing fit into this?
  15. Originally posted by NGONGE: the Arab support of Somalia in its war against Ethiopia! What Arab support? Are you referring to the Yemeni troops who fought alongside Ethiopian soldiers during the Ethio-Somali War of 1977-78? Nonetheless, a nice attempt to sugarcoat the true face of Somali-Arab historical relations.

If I didn't know any better, I would say you were a cardinal trainee WT. [/i] [/QB] LOL Cardinal-trainee, huh. I thought it was common knowledge that there's never been a female Pope, just like there's never been a female U.S. president. I'm always amazed at people who criticize Islam and "women's rights in Islam" whilst conveniently forgetting the ills of the very system they're members of.
  18. Throughout the history of its membership, Somalia has recieved billions of dollars in various aid formats. Somalia didn't return any favor; the least it could have done was adopt Arabic for its alphabet; instead it refused and adopted a foreign alphabet. [/QB] So, that's the source of your anger? You're so angry that Somalia, an Arab country, didn't adopt Arabic as their written form of language. Somalia isn't an Arab country nor will it ever be. And the very Arabs you so vividly speak of are the same ones getting AID from the FOREIGN countries you're referring to, namely the West. Or are we to believe that Arab countries are self-sufficient nation-states who only HAND OUT money to poor, starving Somalis? Give us a break with the "Somalia is an Arab country" garbage. Your opinion is yours but I'm glad I'ma Somali - and not an Arab. P.S. I might give respect to Arabs when they stop bending over for Bush Jr.'s diplomatic doggystyle.
  19. LOL The freaken' Ethiopian army was watching as two Somali clans fought. Expect nothing but hate from these treacherous animal. My Eritrean colleague told me that if you see a deadly, poisonous snake and an Amhara, kill the Amhara first. But, seriously, its a good thing that Cabudwaq and Galkacyo elders have stopped the fighting. These men are empowered to hold the peace through Somali custom and its a blessing that these folks respect their elders as the only mediators. I'm glad Puntland decided not to make a House of Elders in the Parliament and therefore politicize the elders' role in the region, which would open the door to criticism and potentially lead to inaction and loss of elderly respect.
  20. Mohamed Dheere is gonna crush those invaders from Guriceel and Hobyo. Ali Mahdi was a weak and inefficient leader - Mohamed Dheere, Mahdi's former money man - will probably finalize his political steps in a head-to-head confrontation with Muqdisho's true leader, Mud. Cabdiqasim Salat Booy. But are they paying attention? Do do they fancy some assistance from Lower Shabelle strongman with the killa name: Indhacade? As the clouds of war once again descend upon Muqdisho, the question is who will strike first? Who will hit hard and who'll crumble under the heat? Will the RRA get another chance to defeat invading USC forces & RRA traitor branch to liberate their land or will they beg for assistance from Imperial Ethiopia? 21. Abdullahi Yusuf is an Arab president? So, technically, since Eritrea has an observer status at the Arab League, President Isaias Aferwerki is also an Arab? Do you guys need more people to join your race? Where's the flawed reasoning? You're one confused kid. The Arab League isn't a cultural exchange program - its an organization of Mideast, North/East Africa nations with close religious, regional and economic ties.
  22. ^^ Thank you! And these folks are on a hidden agenda after so many freaken posts. HADDAD - It was never "fake outrage" - it was outrage at the fact that six Somalis were killed in Saudi Arabia. No one ever disputed the fact that they committed crimes - but does the punishment befit the crime? It all boils down to the fact that most of us, as Somali Muslims, feel much more comfortable living in the Christian West - where we're relatively free from persecution, where we have civil rights, citizenship, access to education, healthcare etc (with its downfalls, of course)- while fellow Somalis who've worked and lived in Arabia for a majority of their lives are still considered 2nd, 3rd, 4th-class citizens. Do you not see the hypocrisy there? Would so many of us Somalis flee to the Christian West if the Muslim world offered us as much as the West does? Quit avoiding the implications brought upon by the beheadings. It didn't stop at six dead men - it brought to life the terrible living conditions of many Somalis in the land of fellow Muslims. The anger didn't just appear out of nowhere - its because of experiences, stories, etc. we've had with the Arab world in the post-'91 era. Is that clear enough or is nothing clear until we all become back-up singers for the Maryo-Weyn family?
  23. Originally posted by Amethyst: Shouldn't these Arabs know English? These Arab leaders speak body language with English/European women. Does that qualify?

I believe someone already told you to stop mentioning the beheadings of the six Somalis in Saudi Arabia. Don't you get tired? Why do you show so much support for the rulings of the Maryo-Weyn dynasty aka bin Saud royal family?
  25. ^^ Why are you separating my sentence? The question read: Who's MORE wrong: the lady who led the prayer or the men who listened to her qutbah and prayed behind her? I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with a woman giving a qutbah, but there's something inherently wrong with the men who pray behind a woman. Why? Simply because this didn't happen during the times of the Prophet Muhammad SCW. Period - no ifs or buts about it! "Amina Wadud, a professor of Islamic studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, led the service on Friday before a congregation of 80 to 100 men and women at Synod House at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, an Episcopal church. http://www.natashatynes.org/newswire/2005/03/femaleled_ny_pr.html Now, let's also argue about whether or not Muslims can pray in a Christian Church - since Dr Wudud led her prayer in a Church. Were the people who prayed behind her Muslims or Christians? I've never set foot inside a Church - and I don't intend to. Have you? P.S. Don't turn this into a women's rights debate because that's not the issue at task here. Its bigger than women trying to find a voice in the so-called "male-dominated Muslim world" (as if the Christian world is not male-dominated). Where's the female Pope? They won't even allow a non-European male Pope, forget about a female one.
