  1. ^Good advice sis, common sense can get people very far. As for our sisters who do use creams to bleach their skin, I don't think it looks good on them as it always is obvious that they have been bleaching their skin. You see girls with light faces and hands and so on, and then their feet will b 4shades darker. Other girls will have a dark ring around their eyes, on the skin around the eyes where the cream hasn't been used on. Still, its a personal choice so i guess it makes no sense to condemn or even attack those girls that use the bleaching creams.
  2. Happy b-day og-girl. May your wisdom and kindness increase with each year of your life.
  3. So many seem to be busy with comparing what has happened to other things, equally horrible, that happened elsewhere. For me, alarm bells have gone off when the bishop of canterbury said he condmended the actions and was in meeting with his "muslim collegues". This feeling intensified throughout yesterday as the police commisioner was quick to point out that Islam and terorism doesn't go together, with regards to the beliefs muslims hold. This statement was reinforced in Livingstones speech, that everyone was equally hit, muslims as well as non-muslims, and as a representative from the council of Islam in the UK stood side by side with another bishop condemning the acts. And now the commisioner is saying how there hasn't been any attacks on muslims during friday prayers so far. All of this seem to be pre-emptive strikes to prevent a huge backlash. And that will last longer than it takes the wounds of those caught to heel. All those who have been caught in the attack, may Allah give them full health, or if their time on earth is up, may Allah make their passing painless, aamiin.

Allah Diamante caafimaad siiyo, i'm sad she was caught up in today's blasts. I'm jst shaken by what happened, but otherwise i'm fine. I'm glad most nomads have escaped unharmed.
  5. Everyone is my family is ok, alxamdulilah, my sister is stuck in central london, her work place is talking of booking hotels for their employees cos there simply isn't a secure way of getting out of the area, so many other employers will proabbly think along the same line. Nafta, abaayo try their work places, the main switchboard will have some form of procedure in assisting worried family members in such situation. And also, their landlines are more accesable.
  6. Asc wr wb All londoners, be careful around the central area. So far, Kings cross, Euston, Aldgate, moorgate, Edgware rd and liverpool street underground stations have been hit. All transports are suspended, more so in central london. There are many people still trapped in underground stations, and a bus has exploded between Kings X and Euston. I hope all of those nomads working in and around central london are safe and best option would be to leave the immidiate central london area. All mobile fones are suspended within the struck areas because of the use of mobiles to detonate the bombs in madrid, so remember to use public fones.

  9. I kacay dhiigaa i kacay Juxa, u wanna b informed now, do you? Sis b careful b4 ur head is bitten off, u knw my fighting spirit isn't upto scratch Adnaan, intresting topic bro, it made me regret that I haven’t yet visited such spectacular places and beautiful people. One childhood memory that has stayed with me in all these years is the scenery. I remember, outside the cities, beautiful exotic looking birds (the flying variety that is) and the sun coming up over our land. The image I have of Somalia isn't shaped by the people i've known but the things i've seen, which have made a lasting impression.
  10. Happy independence day to everyone. On these days we should reflect on what is and what could have been. That way we realise what we had and what we ruined, which in term should encourage us to want what was, once again.
  11. ^Reminds me of that time my friend had to send cajalad salaan ah to all her family back home. She sent all of them from ayeeyoyaal to habiyaryaal to cousins salaan kabta iyo laabta kasoo baxday
  12. Lexy you trouble maker you As for lovesongs, i'm not very sentimental i'm afraid, so there are no songs that have any attachment, none that i can think of right now anyway. Qac, mr lonely, priceless
  13. Thanx for all your contributions to this topic, the main reason i posted it was to see how we view the problem that Somalia is facing. Namely with regards to the huge number of people with blood on theirr hands. I think many of you have forgotten the way it is back home, people know people and those that have killed innocents are known, though there might not be any force strong enough 2 stop the constant killing, and people genuinely fear them. Soomaalida that live abroad also aren't too innocent, as i noted before. Criminals are saved from the law in europe n north america, and many are sent back home. I don't agree with this practise, laakinse this topic is mainly about the problem back home with the killings and those that have killed having enough mony to live as they wish, be it in Somalia or abroad. Many times being able to leave their past behind. Mizz lander, sis i think you are getting it wrong. the problem with somalis, and the reason that they cannot move forward in life is because they have a tendancy to live in the past What past? Abaayo i understand that your point of view is affected by the fact that you have never been to Somalia, but it is still ongoing and very much the present. we have the right to say all killers are bad and they should all be punished, it is not our place or duty to do so, what can be done anyway, kill the killer; I have never come across such a naive statement in my life before. Killing the killer is actually what is done. Some years ago, the family of a killer would bring the killer to the home of the victim's family and offer his life for the life of the person he killed. Then the family of the victim could decide whether they wanted to kill the killer, demand compensation or forgive the killer and set him free. As it stands nowadays, things have become very muddied and such customs aren't pracrised any longer, to my knowledge. I think that is what is causing the revenge actions. The heads of the families have become disbanded and have stopped taking responsibilities for the actions of their members. somalis also have this problem for trying to run before walking Really? How? By wanting to discuss the problem of the killing culture back home? Along with the poverty, it is a main problem which keeps people back home in constant fear. Remember, a killer can scare the people and rob them of any aid that would otherwise reach them. A group of killers will look out for their own intrests. And as long as they have weapons and are holding on to their teritories, there is no chance of peace back home. They, in effect, prevent any forward movement for Somalia i believe. So you see, the discussion of how to deal with them is very much part of the crawling proccess. Though you may think that all the killers are well into their 50's, it might actually surprise you to know that there are killers younger than you. So waiting for them to die out is quite futile. A while back, there was that sheekh who was making people confess their crimes and was giving them sentences acording to the sharia. Laakin that didn't solve anything, only added to the problem with many people having limps chopped off. In my head, I don't see a solution to the Somalia problem without solving the killer dilemma. So what do you lot think?
  14. I didn't want to look, laakinse looking makes u realise how horrific it trully is and how it is unnecesary as it can be helped, with the aid of muslimiinta. So the picture is crucial, ootherwise it is jst another story with a faceless child. As for sending money, we will have to send it and hope that with Allah's will it reaches her. Not sending could be more dangerous. Also, if some1 can find an organisation that will sponsor her to go abroad for the medical treatment she needs, we could focus on collectin her fare n so on for her. Sending money alone won't do much in Somalia, will it? Masaakiinta Allah caafiyo, aamin.

Hidaad sis, in aan iska aamuso aaba la ii qaatay, i solemnly believe the "spoonful of love" saved u DAWACO:I doubt this topic will go past 15replies. Afro u still doubtful?
  18. I officially reserve a frontseat in the boxing match that will ensue in this topic shortly Muna V. SOL ladies, lets start the betting, i predict it will last 3rounds, with several SOL ladies getting disqualified for foul moves like biting n scratching
  19. ^You dnt knw what ur missing, it rained a little and now everything is nice n cool. As for food, if its spicy, i'll eat it, i hate letting food go to waste But despite of that, what me dnt knw me dnt eat. My bro fed me a bunny once, sayin it was chicken, now i dnt go near anything i can't identify.
  20. Sue, you saddo Nice pics, if i'm in london i'll probably b too lazy to go, and if im not, i won't feel bad cos i missed it. Oh btw, isn't it sooo nice to finally have some rest from that heatwave? I have never hoped for it to rain as much as the past week.
  21. Well hey, there goes my effort with showing off how i too can read n write the langugae Afro, i have u to thank for showing me up as a fraud, waad ku mahadsan tahay Ungrateful so n so...
  22. Haddad, fair enough I suppose, though that doesn't necesarily mean it shouldn't be discussed at all. Afro, it was a warzone, but killing is killing, and it damages people, i believe, regardless of the situation. And remember, not everyone killed for self protections, some killed for tribal reasons.
  23. People, let's not focus on the picture but on the problem at hand. Ilaahoow u gargaar masaakiintaas, aamiin. If one of us speaks to the dr, ask him what his nearest xawilaad is and under what name money can be sent, those that want to help can send the money directly without calling the somali number up. Perhaps even use a codename for members on sol sending money, so that he doesn't need our individual names. If allot of people give a little bit, there will be enough money to help her, so lets get involved please, no matter how little a contribution you make.
  24. lol@bee. LoL...the lady doth protest too much? She doth and she stands by it Have u seen that film bedazzled (very bad n corny btw), there is a scene in it of the "romantic and sensitive" man, a ginger minger with a big fanax and freckles covering him, who cries everytime he sees a nice sunset, he writes love songs and recites odes to his lady-love too. That image always comes to mind, when i hear the word romance
  25. ^Well have you? I don't mean the feeling or losing members of families, that would be a silly statement to make on my part as almost every somali, be they from north or south, have been affected. What i meant is, living in the place where u saw a loved one killed, seeing the killer on a weekly basis and becoming accustomed to having constantly deaths announced and fleeing every couple of days. The effects that taht would have on the person in that situation. Having bad news come to u, but being far away from where it happened is slightly different. Unless of course, you have lived in Somalia till recently? If so, u have my apologies and I stand corrected.
