Socoto, we're only expressing our right to say what we think Straw is: beady-eyed rodent-faced opportunist. Ayuub-sheikho, maandheey, not all expressions are created equal. The-point, I owe you a reply, strapped for time now so you'll have bear with me.
  3. North, Why not do us all a favour, drop the pretense and come out with the real purpose of this appeal. Isn't true this appeal is subterfuge to snare unwary few to adopt you as derelict. I'm thinking of queen of hearts Amelia. Word around has it she's on the look for a child to adopt.
  4. Khalaf embodies the spirit and tone of Islamism. Half the time he's mumbling about pending doom if you don't see his way, the other half he's thundering curses. Or was that Allah-ubaahne... well, details.
  5. The SNM didn't only fail to accomplish a single one of their goals but I trounced them resoundingly. In a nutshell: I went, I saw, I conquered the mediocre SNM.

Child marriages are common across the developing world. Somalia is no exception. In fact, child marriage has long illustrious history in our part of the world. A little while ago, by pure dint of luck, I cought National Geographic program on the telly. It was on Ethiopia. One of the subjects they touched on was how poverty forces families to give up their daughters -- at ever increasingly young age -- to wealthy men. Destitution and lack of oppurtunity makes it compelling beyond reason for parents to give up their daughters. I don't know the circumstances of this particular case but I doubt it was unusual in any significant way.
  7. ^^Yes, for literature. He was charged by the Turkish government with insulting/defacing turkishness or some BS charge while back.

I could kill for a cuppa. That's how much you hate your job? What a drag! In contrast, like ping pong I'm bouncing around in bubble of ecstasy from when I get up in the moring till the end of my day... savouring every moment I spend at work, thinking how many people will I help today (or how much dough will I make depending on your political leanings).
  9. Originally posted by Endeavour: Besides manual cars are cheaper if you decide to purchase a car for the long run and they are also less costly. That's true. Here in Ontario Canada, since most foreign cars come out of the factory with manual transmission... to get auto version you gotta pay extra $1000. Hefty sum if you ask in the light of all the ridiculous fees -- like car key fees! -- one must pay. Hands down, manual cars give you better bang for the buck. Not only are they cheaper but they use less gas and you get more control of the car. But there's competition in sight. CV transmission (Continuously variable transmission or CVT). Gives the perks and feel of manual transmission without manual transmission. Nifty idea. It's new so you'll find it on high-end and hybrid cars for now.

What divine knowledge? Retro-active science is not miraculous. Neither is post-dicted knowlegde miraculous. There's really no need to imbue the Quran what it isn't and can't provide answers. Quran is spiritual book, not science or medicine book. Why look for science in a holy/spiritual guidance book escapes me.

He's elected public official. It's his duty to broach any topic he deems of importance to the public eye. It don't matter one whit if the issues are spurrious or worthy. If he felt uncomfortable about members of his constituency covered head to toe save the eyes, he is justified to bring up for discussion the merit of people dressed head to toe in his community. It's only through talking that problems and misgivings can be ameliorated. Not ignoring them and letting them fester till they blow up unmanageably to the detriment of all involved.
  12. This touchy-feely business is very touchy. I'm moved. I'm helpless patsy for maudlin pieces.
  13. Build exclusive gaming resorts (that includes gambling... fudge off to anyone who wants to get sanctimonious with me) and cathouses. For verily it's established truth men of power need some entertainment and jolly after long days work.
  14. Very hearty congrats to Mr. Mohammed. Aint this egg in the face to all those who grumble muslims don't get fair recognition for their efforts?
  15. Originally posted by LayZieGirl: unless someone in this forum knows him personally. He doesn't even look like a somali. We went High School together and still run into him every now and then. Of course, at the gym (that's all he does -- work out work out work out...). He's more Somali than you. Stop hating, it's not good for your heart.
  16. This is quite pitiful sight. The Kops are spent force. I really feel sorry for any Livrpool fans. You all won't live to see Kop hoist anymore trophies. Support Chelsea!
  17. Originally posted by ThePoint: In a time of hieghtened tensions for the Muslim community in Britain - for Jack Straw to express these private sentiments is unwise to say the least. Unwise you say? I tell you what's unwise. Denying non-muslim women the right to dress as they see fit in muslim majority countries. Remember the hue and cry while back in Nigeria about Miss World Pageant competition to be held there? The mere proposal to hold the event there sent thousands of muslims to the streets in protests. And here we are decrying an elected official's right to free speech. Amidst it all, we forget that this right of his to air his displeasure with Hijab (the kind that leaves bare only the eyes) is the same right that allows muslim women to wear the Hijab.
  18. What were you doing looking for Somali criminals in the first place?
  19. Man, why are you inundating the site with these political news/screeds? So much ado about nothing. THere are 10 other threads open dealing with same subject.
  20. ^When Shevchenko hits all cylinders, watch out everyone!
  21. Originally posted by Khalaf: This is wrong...and anyone who sheds blood unlawfully will be punished by Allah. Mistaking yourself with Allah again, aren't you? Allah punishes and forgives whomever he chooses. And we can't know what fates Allah will mete out to us, regardless of our deeds.
  22. Originally posted by tHe oNe aNd OnLy: Well what ells could be expected, hell governments, society and libertarians have all dug their gore at us, why cant the pope?.... I think the expectation nowadays is people would see sense in using their God giving brains a little more. Steven Weinberg had it right when he said, "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
  23. Originally posted by Sharif_seylaci: The results were POSITIVE, proving ALL FOUR MEN originated from Ali Binu Abi Talib (RAA)!! That's not what the test results showed; only that they all got common ancestor. But we don't know if that common ancestor was Ali Binu Abi Talib or someone else. And relying on genetics to validate your ancestory is double edged sword. If you accept genetic similarities as prove positive of common heritage, you must also accept you and chimps (or a bananas) had a common ancestor (as posited by Evolution Theory with the support of genetics). Since Chimps and humans share 98% (to a lesser degree for bananas) of their genetic make-up. There's really no good reason to accept one and reject the other.
