  1. ^Apparently HAG stands for some Somali clan whose name starts with H that is Against God. Where have these guys been all my life I've been searching any Somali group that is against God the enemy of Somalis.
  2. Walee waa dhaqanguur iyo nus. Waayihii horey markii la isku dayo in gabdhaha la dhunkado waxee dhihi jireen "war maxaa iga dhunkanee ma Kutaab Ilaahey aa ii moodey!" Ayaamahan na gabdhihii dhunkasho ee ku waasheen. Ani waxaan aaminsanahay goorta la arko Xaliimo dhunkaneysa waxaa la arkey astaanta ifka dhammaadkiis.
  3. Jiririco = goosebumps Faataadhugle Caalgab Barbax Birdaawo
  4. Is Heensad some kind of traditional hut like cariish or muddul? And reading Baar in this thread reminded me of another word: Magoog as in the village in Somali Galbeed called Baar Magoog. Few more words: Macsi Suyuc Halco Yooyyool Xiriirnaq
  5. Don't mind genius pauper, he's just trolling.
  6. $7 million for one man?! Friggin' hell man, who is informing the Americans? Clearly, Americans don't know much about Somalis. The Somali is the consummate greedy, rational, calculating opportunist who will turn in for mere $500 not only any Alshabaab member but also his wife, kids, the family's beloved weershe waxar along with their caarlaawe camel.
  7. Of course Al Shabaab isn't special forces by dint of concealing their faces. And making such daft comparison is tantamount to committing the Fallacy of Equivocation. It's like saying: women like men have two arms, therefore men and women are the same. Of course, that is ludicrous argument even my 90 year old illiterate grandma, Dahabo Toolmoon, agrees. Al Shabaab conceal their faces because they're bunch of criminals and murderers whose ranks include international fugitives and terrorists.
  8. Dikaan = throbbing pain as in "madaxa aa i dikaamaya." Another word for Dikaan is Kaar You got janjeeri right... it can also mean to cajole someone towards your point of view as in "dadka soo janjeeri" Maar = replica/copy Bulbul = something with smooth flow, fluent
  9. aero;837991 wrote: Professing and putting its teachings into practice are two totally different things especially when it has to come from a level of power. If Islam was the solution to a people who's social condition was similar if not worse than ours 1400+ years ago, I'm sure it is the solution for us today. One of the many ingredients missing to bringing this into play is honest and faithful leaders who want to look out for the good of Somalia as a whole rather than their tribal constituencies. Islam is what Muslims do! Otherwise, Islam will be no more than bunch of words on paper with no pragmatic impact in the real world. In which case the whole corpus of Islamic dogma might as well have never been written to begin with. No body cares about theoretical Islam because we can't jude it as we can't see it. Hence why Islam as practiced by Muslims is the only objective way to evaluate the merits of Islam as a solution to the world's (or Somali's) problems. And by that standard, Islam flunks in every significant category.
  10. ^The prophet didn't "finalize" Islam 1400 years ago. It took 3/4 centuries for Islamic dogma to crystalize as per Islamic history even then one can't say Islam was finalized as Islam continues to evolve to present day.
  11. Shiikh Cagmadhige becometh Shiikh Ordaaye. Yaab!
  12. Why is Miskiin saying Wiriiri is not ant? Wiriiri is definitely a species of ant prevalent in Benaadir region black in colour with a stinging bite. Lets see who can translate these: Hawakac Hargaanti Deyd Darbaal Janjeeri Fallaago Bulbul Baraare Dikaan Maar (not rust meaning, the other meaning)
  13. You guys are confusing Strong State and Dictatorship. One of the great attractions of dictatorships or autocratic regimes is the illusion of efficiency and competence. It is true, to a certain extent, that dictatorships are more orderly, efficient and competent compared to their less autocratic counterparts but that masks an important fact. Dictators who are seen as more competent/efficient are often at the helm of a strong state. The key issue is the quality of the state the president/dictator/king presides over not the actual title of the leader. A strong state is one that can collect taxes, enforce its own laws, guarantee its own territorial integrity and the most important of all implement its own policies. Too often poor countries can not even implement their own policies because the state apparatus is too weak. So the goal for Somalia should be to creat a powerful state that can outlive temporal leaders/governments and act as a vehicle for efficient, rationalized governance.
  14. Marksman;836250 wrote: The Arabs (Saudi Arabia specifically) can only destroy Somalia by introducing a form of islam that is alien to us. A form of Islam? Who are you to reject anything Arab tells you about Islam? Some Arab came to your shores 1000+ years ago telling you to believe in Mohammed and Allah. If another Arab comes to your shores today telling a better version of Islam came out recently who are you to reject it?
  15. Somali Philosopher, your analogy between Christianity in USA and Islam in Somalia is a false. A witless greek some 2500 years ago said analogies must compare apple with apple not compare apples and oranges. Not much of a philosopher, are you? Anyways, Christianity doesn't determine or write America law secular, elected leaders do. If Sharia proponents have their way, Imams/Wadaads will write EVERY law in Somalia rendering parliament superfluous.
  16. If he is serious about his candidacy he should change his name. No way I'll ever vote for Mr. Instability (that's what Looyaan means). Rather stick with Mr. Cagmadhige, oops, I mean Mr. Shariif at least he doesn't worry me with his daft name.
  17. Halyey General Ceydiid, Ilaahey janada ha ka waraabsho, was a great Somali hero. Most of us SOLers would be languishing in the hellhole that was Somalia if it was not for the great General. Thanks to the General we now enjoy a good life as part of the diaspora community living a life that is infinitely better than what we had or would've had had the General didn't rise to the occassion. He is our Messiah! Ceydiid almost single handedly SAVED millions of Somalis by virtue of giving us the opportunity to come to the West where we enjoy world class healthcare, education, living standards, social benefits, freedoms, etc. The General deserves a statue and a national holiday. Instead we have bunch of uppity ingrates tarnishing the good name of our Messiah. The nerve of these people! It is occassions like this that I pull out my tooreey and dhenged ready to do battle despite my advanced age rendering me frail and feeble. Waryaada waxaan waa xadgudub ee ka fiirsada arrinta.

    Ma ogtahay

Tiniixi mise tiniiqi? Horaa u aqaaney in Tiiniixi iyo Tincaro ahaayeen magac Alle sida Waaq iyo madar. Waligeey ma maqlin tincawsle. Anyways, you don't need to look far to find evidence of Somali's old ways. Take the word for pray for instance. When Somalis wanna tell someone to pray, they say Tuko which is the word for crow. The crow is the only bird in Somalia that makes the Waaq sound.
  19. lol@at the random pic of cheering crowds. Lets get down to brass tacks. How much oil are we talking about? There is oil in virtually every country. It is the quantity and quality that matters.
  20. Belo! Why name arguably the best president the perennially hopeless Somalis ever had after some godforsaken town in the middle of nowhere? Surely he deserves higher profile than Caabudwaaq, no?

You gonna have to explain your reasoning because I don't follow it. The goal of the test was too see how people react when subjected to distinct stimuli. How does the "analysis" of believe fit into all of this? And what right minded academic would want to carry out "analysis" of belief? Have you lost your marbles buddy? Could you envisage picking the brains of, say, Sh. Umul? The experimenter will probably pass out from boredom. N.O.R.F;828383 wrote: It’s irrelevant because he reached his decision based on what HE thought was the truth after his usual analytical thought process. He obviously wasn't any good at. "Analytical thought process" doens't shield anyone from reaching the wrong conclusions. You can't expect me to take seriously a man who believes Mohammed rode to the "heavens" on a prehistoric space going flying thingy named Buraq. What is this Buraq thing anyways? I wanna get piece of it. What sort of fuel did run on. If it jwas like barn animal plus wings, who fed it and what kind of feed was it on? How was it born/made? I refuse to accept any intelligent person can believe some of these Alice in Wonder, Harry Potter calibre fairly tales found in Abrahamic religions.
  22. Wax la yiraahdo "cadow so jireen" ma jiro. Dan killi aa jirta. Haddii cadow so jireen wax dhab ah ahaan leheed, ma dhici leheen in France iyo Germany bahoobaan. Waayo labadaa dal colaada iyo dagaalada soo dhexmarey wax la mid ah ifka oo dhan la ga ma heli karo.
  23. The most common argument used by the proponents of Somaliland's secession is that Somaliland was "cheated" by Southern Somali politicians from date the union was formed to the breakout of the civil war. This "cheating" predates the descent of S. Somalia into hobbesian nightmare. The chaos and instability in S. Somalia is ad hoc argument floated only because it makes eminent sense. But it isn't the core argument. The irony in all of this is that it was originally "southern" Somalis in particular the leaders of Bay and Bakool communities who vehemently opposed the union of British and Italian Somaliland. Those "southern" leaders thought, rightly, that their power and share of resources will be diluted by the union of the two Somalilands. Somalilanders on the other hand were all agog to join Italian Somaliland. Today, it is the other way around. Oh, how times have changed.

  25. You sure it took place today? Looks like Deja vu all over again 'cause I remember watching a debate between these two before.
