  1. They're wearing way too much clothing. Just imagine them getting a bullet wound. It'll take forever for the paramedics to stop the bleeding as they struggle to remove all that clothing.
  2. ^It is ambitious but viable. If you need to achieve greatness you need to aim big.
  3. As long as the locals are consulted with, those spearheading this Jubbaland entity are actually from the region and the new government in Mogadishu gives Jubbaland its blessings no one will/should be against it. But we know none of that holds true. The locals are side-stepped as evidenced by the 1001 different groups sprining up everywhere all claiming to be "true natives/owners" of Kismaayo. You have foreign government, Kenya, pushing some obscure clan outfits like Ras Kamboni to enforce their Jubbaland agenda against the expressed wishes of the new federal government in Xamar. And finally, just about everyone championing this fictitious entity, Jubbaland, including many here on SOL weren't even born in Jubbooyinka. Why should someone who wasn't born there have more say about the region's future than those who were and live there now?
  4. I've said it before and it's worth repeating that Africa will always be weak, poor and marginalized untill they establish strong manufacturing base. Manufacturing is the lynchpin of all economically robust states today. Every developed country went through industralization even tiny countries like Israel have strong industrial base - they can manufacture just about anything. Most of Africa's raw resources are exported without further processing which is where the real money is anways. Just about every raw resource for manufatured goods is found in Africa. But I don't like Westerners and their morose analysis of Africa. If they're not claiming Africans are droping like flies from AIDS it is Malaria or flavour of the month killer disease. If it is not about famines it is about ethnic cleansing and wars.
  5. Only 1.5 km? Talaabadeyda aaba ka dheer intaa. Ninyahow ha na ceebeen ee waxaan meesha ka tirtir.
  6. Yunis;876154 wrote: That said, for a genuine peace and coexistence to return in that precious region the clan has to play a prominent role. If anyone ever been to the Jubbada-hoose, as I have been, the undeniable fact is that those key villages and towns like Badhaadhe, Jamaame and of course Afmadoow as well as the grazing lands of Xagar are overwhelming inhabited by the clan. This is of course nosense. If the clan is really as numerous in Lower Jubba as you imply, then how come every single clan leader in that region was born either in Ethiopia or Kenya? How come this large community has not being able to rear a single prominent leader from within and need help from a guy born in 1000+ kms away? From C. Jees (born in Ethiopia) and Gabyow (born in Kenya) to Xassan Turki and Madoobe all were born outside of Somalia never mind in L. Jubba. In fact, you can say pretty much say the same thing for every clan militia that ever fought in L. Jubba, almost all were led by men born outside the region be it Morgan, Ceydiid, Indhacade, Hiiraale, etc. Fact is the L. Jubba is diverse region (as is Gedo despite the farce the region being made synonymous with one clan simply because that clan shared lineage with Siyad Barre) with many different clans. Credit to the true inhabitants of that region because they're civilized people with no interest in mindless warring unlike the maurading militias from outside the region.
  7. I always thought "tough/strong woman" was oxymoron but in your case, Muna, I'll make an exception. Just for you! There is something about women in uniform that is dementingly sexy.
  8. Haatu;875447 wrote: If it's not true, why claim it? Why not? Look at me I have most of SOLers convinced I'm kooky, bald octogenarian with a serious case of flatulence and halitosis as a result of a special penchant of ruminating on Catha edulis... most of have bought it hook, line and a sinker. If people are too gullible, why can't you claim anything, adopt any personality? Haatu;875447 wrote: I don't know why you resort to insults, I thought you were a reasonable fellow. Haatu;875447 wrote: If you're so good, have a crack at the last word I posted, Neef-ka-roon-dil I'll give you a little hint, it's a name that reer miyiga give to certain animals. It's related to zakah. I have no clue although I must admit that doesn't even look like a word more like a phrase or a sentence. But I'm curious what does it mean? More words: Gaafan Geyfan Gaafmeer Galangalcee Gabbaldaye Goror BTW, uunrays is another word for squirrel. Somalis must love squirrels!
  9. ^Then you should've seen him when he was in high school, he looked a lot leaner although still muscular. Man o man has the dude buffed up since high school. We went to the same school.
  10. Jacpher, a MOD should stay above the fray and not get involved in personal attacks which this thread clearly is. What bearing does what a member of SOL writes on other fora have on his standing here? Did he break SOL etiquete? No! Did he comport himself with SOL's golden rules? Yesiree... who, then, really gives a hoot what he writes in gutter press site like Toront Sun (marginally better than SUN TV). We all know MMA is avid Toronto Star reading (I'm more of Globe and Mail fella), starbucks cappuccinno sipping, granola crunching hippie wannabe fella, is this his way of getting back at hated Toronto Sun by attacking poor Blackflash (what the heck does this name supposed mean anyways?)?
  11. Please, not this former DMV clerk again. We can do better.
  12. My **** friend, who is a close confidant of Mr. Farmaajo, has just informed me that Farmaajo is definitely out of the PM race. Apparently, the new president was dismayed at Farmaajo's offering of fistful of Quulle as token gesture and immediately resolved that no man who hails from a people who eat such unpalatable shid will ever be given the PM post. The same **** friend informs me that strong rumours emanating from the corridors of Villa Somalia reinforced by cacophony of braying donkeys point to a new PM from Feerfeer district of Hiiraan. Further probing failed to yield the identity of our future PM other than that he is best known as Feerduubte from Feerfeer. The plot thickens!
  13. Meeqo islaamo oo kastuumo ka siibtey? That is the only to be tough guy in Somalia.
  14. I heard differently. I heard it was Azania mafia masquerading as Kenyan troops because all the victims are from the same clan (camel lovers).
  15. ^Blessed, walaal how can we say mabrook to someone who doesn't have the common courtesy to invite us to her wedding or at least make an official announcement on SOL. Doesn't she know some of us have put our whole life on hold pending her marriage announcement? Had she invited me I would've wholeheartedly accepted the invitation; I would go to the wedding in my latest wig and pantaloons with marduuf in my right hand and Charles Darwin's Origin of Species in my left hand. Rudy, smell you aa? I hope for your own sake that you stick your nose up the right places. Ngonge, your title nearly had my new pacemaker fail... don't scare me like that again. I thought Johnny B re-established diplomatic relations with Allah. If the Commander of the Faithless jumps ship willnilly, where does that leave the rest of us?

  17. Haatu, you silly child... how can I help draft Somali dictionary in 1965 when Somali didn't have standard written script till 1972 (or was it '71?)? Clearly you're in urgent need of remedial classes in Somali history. I'm volunteering to offer to you my vast knowledge in Somali history at no cost. And as a added bonus you get to see my impressive collection of wigs free of charge. And please don't post words from colloquial Somali. No one is interested in peculiar terms used only by a bunch of dhaanto dancing longfoots from Wardheer. Post only Standard Somali. Showqi, you're not bad my son. Xagalfaraar means a depression. It is a compound word from Xagal which is the back of the knee joint (ever heard the saying "waa in loo xagal-laabtaa arrintan adeg?") and faraar which means a dent. It usually refers to a depressed area where water accumulates at the end of the rains. Hanfariir means fear/trepidation.
  18. I too think this shid is superstitious claptrap but we shouldn't impugn the integrity of the people in the video. I think they genuinely believe this shid. Lets show some respect peeps.
  19. Maroodi, wrong! Mintid is mainly used as a verb as in "ninkaas waxaas oo ku mintidey." It means to focus/strive/try your best at something.
  20. Will you then be prepared to burn the Iranian flag of Siilaanyo?
  21. I feel for the guy who seems to have been profiled. Loool@I prefer Chinese
  22. ^I don't thinkso. I think you made up those words. There is no way SAWYOCAAN can be Somali word unless you misspelled it. There is Suyuc (stuffy, musty). Just trust me on this, I helped draft the first Somali dictionary in 1965. Lets see who knows these words: Hanfariir Birinbirqee Mintid Xagalfaraar
  23. Tallaabo;870791 wrote: The question, is why don't Muslims protest when Jesus Christ (pbuh) or even God Almighty are regularly bad-mouthed in the West? Because Mohammed is more than just a "prophet," he is a necessary partner to Allah. That is why the Shahada has two componenets - believe in Allah AND Mohammed. No Muslim will gain eternal salvation without first believing in Mohammed. You can't be a Muslim by believing in Allah alone. That is why slights, percieved or real, against Mohammed draw so much ire from Muslims whereas similar slights against other "prophets" slide by unnoticed.

War waa maxay Af Somaligan qaabka darran oo waxba laga fahmin? Anyways, Malcolm X was a convicted pimp and a male prostitute and a khaniis to boot. But I'm not surprised that those facts don't dissuade you after all you are in bed with Alshabaab, the biggest purveyors of khaniisnimo in the Somali peninsula today. Anyone who tells you that we should model our society after Afghans and Saudis is flaming khaniis. As Chairman of the Committee for the Eradication of Khaniismo and Sissiness from Somali peninsula, I assure I will not put down my sword till I zap the last of your ilk. These mofos are telling our girls not to put on pretty clothes and perfumes lest they attract the attention of men. They tell men, on the other hand, to dress nicely and put on perfumes but to stay away from girls. So, who are these men impressing with their nice clothes and scents? Other men? This is pure khaniisnimo and I will not stand for it.
