@cadnaan1 said: and this is how the puntland media are reporting caawinaada dowlada dhexe bunch of ungrateful people. http://puntlandi.com/imaaraatka-carabta-oo-laba-diyaaradood-oo-saanad-milatari-ah-soo-gaarsiiyay-puntland-iyo-federaalka-oo-isku-sawiray/ http://puntlandone.com/2016/03/18/daawo-dowladda-imaaraatka-carabta-oo-dowladda-federaalka-puntland-u-soo-marisay-saanad-ciidan/ Ungrateful? You remind me a bunch of Somali fathers that I met long ago. The men were congratulating each other for babysitting/taking care of their own children, an obligation bestowed upon by virtue of being fathers. The Federal Government, at least in theory, is a government for all Somali regions. It is their job, nay, their obligation to help whether Planders are grateful or not. Now if you are saying the Federal Government is a regional government, then, of course that's different story.

Tallaabo, The money came from Pland Government, business community, tax on utility and communication companies, tax on school fees and diaspora. Traditional and religious leaders have also taken on upon themselves to collect money. The collection will be ongoing. The first phase of the project would be from Ceeldaahir to Baran. http://allsbc.com/daawo-barnaamij-gaar-ah-wadada-ceel-daahir-iyo-cerigaabo/ I think the project will start in April. We, Somalis, need to stop being beggars, dhib waaye hadee gacanta kaa horeeso markasta. Baryo badan waa la isku nacaa. There's a project to build coastal road from Xamar to Hobyo. It's my hope Puntland and Somaliland will build on that road, just imagine from Xamar to Zaylac. We might be politically divided, but at least we can hope for people to people movement and commerce can increase.

Good progress, Ceeldaahir and Ceerigaabo is road about to start. These roads will benefit Sanaag and the larger region immensely.

Galbeedi, Let's hope the locals in Puntland understand the gravity of the situation. Al-Shabab even with Gulf money and southern support cannot get a foothold in Puntland without local support.

@cadnaan1 How can hundreds of armed al-Qaeda / ISIL fighters wander freely in the Somali waters right under the noses of international navies? An excellent question. And I find it hard to believe that these boys were simply escaping from the South. Miyir. This is no coincidence,

It doesn't matter who sent them, what matters the security of region is secured. This could only be done with the help of people. Puntland needs to take care of mountain hideouts once and for all. Local tribes need to be involved. Everybody must have a stake in this. -

Al-Shabaab militants seize Northern Somalia port town Dozens of al-Shabaab militants took control of the Northern Somalia port town of Garacad on Monday, residents and an official have confirmed. The coastal town, which is located in the Mudug region, was seized by the extremists with no resistance. ‘’They landed from the sea and immediately took control of the whole town. They told us that they will be here for six days and have warned that they will kill any armed person,’’ said one of the residents who spoke to Horseed Media. Mayor of Garacad told the local media that foreign fighters are among the militants that have seized the town. Garacad, once a pirate hub is administered by the Somalia’s autonomous state of Puntland. No senior official has commented on the fall of the city to the militants. Residents accused the Puntland administration of allowing the militants to take the town unopposed. Elsewhere, our correspondent in the town of Galkayo says that Puntland authorities have prepared troops to launch a major battle to retake the town in the coming hours. Over the past few months, the al-Qaeda-linked militant group has been making substantial advances in some parts of the country. The al-Qaeda-linked extremists remain dangerous, unpredictable and bold, known for audacious and chilling attacks. Their fighters routinely target the Somali government in Mogadishu. The group has also sought to terrorize neighboring Kenya. https://horseedmedia.net/2016/03/15/al-shabaab-militants-seize-northern-somalia-port-town/

Haglatosiye: Galaydh is the biggest coward, always running away.

This dude is the quintessential example of what's wrong with "Somali" leaders. He was a presidential candidate, a rebel and loyal secessionist. -
Here's wiki version https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultanate_of_the_Geledi
-
The Geledi was the successor to the Ajuran Empire. It was established by Ibrahim Adeer who defeated the declining Ajuran . It lasted 150 years. There are many notable things about them, but the two I found the most interesting are: They made Omanis pay tributes and they kept the Oromo at bay. Originally, it was the Ajuran who defeated the great Oromo invasion of Southern Somalia. Unfortunately, I haven't found many writings about the Geledi aka Gobroon. The Geledi were eventually defeated by the B!yamal.

We, Somalis, have the unfortunate destiny of never claiming our true history. We rather read what others wrote about us Ajuran along with Geledi Sultanate were two interesting Somali political entities.

I always thought these were sexually frustrated sickos. Al-Shabab practices a benign version or maybe not so benign version, forced "marriages". -
The technical feasibility study of Maydh port has been completed
Che -Guevara replied to Saalax's topic in Politics
Sanaag needs roads and perhaps an airport. In terms of commercial ports, Berbera and Bosaso should suffice. Maydh can perhaps be developed fishing port. -
