Have you ever seen an Arab woman with abaya and niqaab wearing a North Face jacket and taking skiing lessons with snow in a place that reaches 50 degrees celcius in the summer? Interesting sight i tell ya! ^^This was crazy. I was watching documentary about this snow dome a month ago.....the construction and the cost were enormous. And the energy needed to keep the place cold  . Even worst all the people building and making money were white european managers and Indian laborers...where were the Arabs?...ridiculous but priceless I guess.

  8. The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program has a PAID internship program and is in need of applicants! The Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program provides college students the opportunity to live and work in a paid internship at an American Embassy overseas. Through work assignments participants learn various aspects of international trade, trade policy, international relations, diplomacy, regional and cultural considerations, etc. Positions are available in Western Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The internship is offered every semester and summer for graduate students and upperclassmen (juniors and seniors). Requirements: Be a currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate student (must be a junior or a senior), a U.S. citizen and in good academic standing. Graduate level students in business, international relations, regional studies (i.e. Latin American Studies, Asian Studies, etc), public policy, foreign languages, etc., as well as high-achieving junior and senior undergraduates in similar majors are particularly encouraged to apply, though the program is open to all majors. Please see the application at the website below. http://www.fas.usda.gov/admin/student/IIP_Brochure.pdf Also, the application states that you must pay for your own transportation to your job site. If that is a financial problem, still apply and FAS will see how they may be able to find financial assistance for the student. Please feel free to pass this on to your network. If you have any questions please contact the program coordinator, Lillian Gorman at: USDA Hispanic Serving Institutions National Program 1400 Independence S.W., Rm. 3912-S Washington, D.C. 20250 (202) 720-6506 (phone) (202) 720-5336 (fax) lgorman@ars.usda.gov More info here

Good recommendations there. Nonetheless, WaTerLily if you want something lighter but not less interesting you should read "illiberal Democracy" by that Indian Sakaria of Newsweek.
  13. So Ahura gets whats hers but young JB is left holding the bag...ouch. Anyone else notice the Bee and the good sheikh haven't been seen lately I'm just saying no.
  14. They should reprimand the organizers alone. Not everyone who may have showed up for the food.
  15. ^That was the point, to remind students who may not have heard it when this was first announced and also as kids are getting ready to apply college here.
  16. Khadija.....how you been sister adiga iyo black mecca yaa raayay. Anyhow, I used dell in college and it worked fine. I still have it now and it works ok. So don't count it out.

  18. ^You're right ESL classes mostly don't work and urban high schools are really horrible here. But in public high schools at least non-English speakers can take subject classes like sciences, math, physical ed, history etc, with other students. But since charter schools started to sprung up everywhere, some of them decided to focus on immigrants. They market themselves as more focused and accountable to students than public schools, when in fact they are just for profit institutions and care only about the bottom line. Imagine a whole school of immigrants with no one licensed teacher? That’s just crazy. They are paid by the government and other foundations to educate these poor kids and they short change them. Let them sue and sue and sue for all these scammers are worth!
  19. Yeah good for him. I wanna know how can pple in the US get this channel. Do we have to get dish network or something like the arabic channel? I hope we can order through cable.

  22. I hope they win the case. Just so other charter schools realize they will be held accountable to their curriculum.
