  3. ^^^ Sorry mate, I've had it upto here with baby books.. 900 pages markaan akhriyeyno ma aduunkaa noo istaagey! I've recently finished Reading Nuraddin Farah's Novel .... 'Gifts'. I am not a real fan of Mr Farah but this one was just splendid. It is based in the 1980's Muqdishu and the main character is a single mother. Dunya a nurse lives in a run down district of Muqdishu and she basically falls in love with a rich dude .. or he with her. Anyways, the way this storey unfolds is so cool.. cos youd get a snap of her past, a bit of the presnt and at the same time the writer deals with the political situation in Somalia. He also explores the stereotypes found in Somali society, like fgm and even a crazy reer Burco female. I can say more, but I don't wanna spoil it 4 ya! U guys have to read this book, it is funny, political and has a bit of romance in it. Be warned though. it is not for the critical pro. dhaqan peeps. The author doesn't write for Somalis so the books lacks moral fibre (according to the Somali standards). Which is cool for me cos all somali books do is preach to ya.... If any body has read this.... or will read it ... holla back...

  8. Bush n Blair are bull-shitting! If they wanted a diplomatic solution they wouldn't have spent all that money in the first place. This war is gonna happen with or without anyones backing! Londoners... I know we ain't really under threat but just to keep it safe ... Where do they sell gas masks?

  16. I haven't watch the programme. But I am really disapointed with reaction of Somalis and the some of the comments made here! Someone dissmissed it as a begging excercise and another objected to it because it put 'us' to shame..... that is entirely pointless ... walaahi, wax laga yaabaad tihiin  It is time ya'll relised that complaining about trivial matters is not gonna help our people.... ama wax u qabata ama amuusa! Scarface I think you need to do a little growing up before you attembt commenting on reall issues!

    Ladies First

Lol Nasra Over-racting again  Politeness -- It really separates the boys from the 'gentlemen' men. The worst thing about going to Riwayads and arooses or anywhere Somalis hang is because there is lack of respect for the ladies... I mean where do you get of, brushing past a girl, trodding on her feet.... and then 'chat her up' moments later? Walaahi... no bun intended ... but our brothers can do with some how to be a 'gentleman' tuition! Gone off topic .. sorry
  18. Walaalo, if he changed his mind about you because of your disability then he can't have loved you that much in the first place. could it be that you've made an assumtion because your disability bothers you? maybe he didn't even notice that? i am saying that because a lot of brothers seem to fear commitemnet and relationships these days. Anyways, girl... Don't stress yourself over him walaalo... i am sure one day you'll find some1 who loves you for you.
  19. nimanku badankoodu gurayaha ayeey joogaan. Laakin, they don't take an active role in bringing up the ciyaal and supporting their families. Single motherka la sheegtana waa iska sheeko loo dhisay DSSta sidey reerku u helaan free rent, caydh money etc.... 8/10 ninku guriga wuu jooga .... but this system lets some morons get away from their responisilibities. Haday naagtiisu u ogashahay maxaa laga qaban karaa? I guess I lot of ppl also suffer from culture shock... so don't take my comments at insults directed at men ....
  20. I almost forgot about this topic Seems like some of you have understood my opinon as being anti-jihaad and pro American. Allah forbid! Basically what I was saying, was that some muslims are misguided to the believe that terrorism is the way forward for the muslim community. Though, I understand that many of us are left with no other choice but to resort to desperate measures. What these brothers fail to see is that terrorism / or what ever you call it ... is counter-productive and as we are witnessing making matters worse for the muslims. Muraad n Rampage I too have my lil theory about Bin Laden but I won't share it with ya'll... my mates reckon I been watching too much 'crime films'. If it was him, then Allah help the brother. There are some groups that advocate jihaad n turn their back on muslims when it comes to the crunch. And coming back to your Q. Rampage. A terrorist is someone that instills fear on others to achieve a political solution. Bush n Blair are the biggest players at the moment, only their form terrorism is some how legitimated by 'International Laws' ... made by whome and for who.... Allah knows. The iorny of it all was that 'terrorism' was introduced to the world by the ppl who now claiming to 'fight' it. Basshe, Islam is not about following your instincts though is it? The Prophet of Allah (saw) was himself mistreated by the gaalo. But, he (saw) didn't run arround killing innocent ppl ........ I think we can learn alot about our history! Tamina, I hear ya. We are a some 'reactionists' I must admit. It hard to ignore something when it is staring at you in the face. But, I guess what we are all saying here is ... to educate ourselves about Islam.... I hear that. Remember : "Allah does not change the Condition of people, untill they change themselves" check this out: http://www.harunyahya.com/32terrorism_main_soc05.html
  21. Oh I say, yous lot have had a field trip with this one  Not exactlt the reponse Ive anticipated. But man sha Allah I see some really good feedback .... can't say much more .. just finished work and me wants to go home and get some food ..... will be back though,
  22. Oh well  No culture is static and change in values and morals should be expected from a nation whose population resides mainly out of the country. Some of your comments are exaggerated but true. I guess, it all depends on who is setting the standards?
  23. Baashi! And heres me thinking I've finaly made it good! I guess I gonna have to give the Independent Woman thing some thought. I am not crazy about un-pleasnt surprises. Imagine finding out your Man - the - Doctor is actually a Health Assistant

  25. woooooohoooooooo Barwaqo xagxagato! Here's a cuppa mate... I believe you need it after all that 'cago dhigo' talk I wear my hijaab masr-style. Hijaab is a personal matter between Allah and his creation. It is also a refelction of who you are and your level of piety. It isn't only about what you wear and how you wear it .... but your attitude. Unfortunately, there are some sisters who wear a full-on scarf (i won't call it a hijaab) and still act trashy. And you have some who don't even cover up but have all the attitude! Anyways, I am not here be-little the value of hijaab.... but it has its prequists and should only be done to please Allah. Lets not disrespect each other.. after all our intention should only be to help ecah other achieve some good. Let Allah be the judge!
