  1. As the song goes..Dont start no stuff, wont be no stop..." I definately got my "gun" alright=Karate and Jujstu tactics...bring it on . But I pray to Allah for the families suffering and hope that this hatred will come to a stop, and we can all live in peace, love and harmony.
  2. I personally think that one should ofcourse weight their personal priorities before marrying a single mother w/a baggage. However, many are over exaggerating on the issue of Garoobnimo. Infact, I think this definition already separates views and brings a segragating factor in the horizon. Iam not trying to convey the slogan of "oh here comes a feminist" but Iam just wondering how come the same term is not practically defined in the context of divorced man. Anywayz, I think if one is strongly weighing his love life based on if whether the woman in his life had a previous marriage life or not is practically ****** and not ready for marriage in the first place. I have experienced the ugliness of divorce, but will never consider myself Garoob..and I have no baggage but if did anywayz, I think it would have just added something wonderful to my life and not a "baggage". Besides, the experience has given me a different outlook in life. I am still young, beautiful, bright, skillful and articulate, and definately will not a slight, one of life's-challenges overcome my strong character and capabilities.
  3. since I haven't grown up with neither of my parents,I am told most of the times that I possess some definate characteristics of both my parents. However, behaviour-wise, i would definately note that I have grown to take up some values possessed and instilled to me by my beloved aunt, since she raised me. I truely salute her strong standard values that she possessed and passed it on to the kids she raised. She is totally has a different characteristics as my mother..but due to genetic makeup, ofcourse they share some qualities together. Bottom line, I think there are so many factors that play into the one's persona makeup, but I think environment might play a major of all the qualities.

  12. Gediid...u are right walaalo..AIDs is a number one killer and has no specific treatment at the moment. creating awareness to "deaf" (a large # of people that agree that this is not an epidemic already, nevertheless already existing a blatant ignorant and statistically misproven misconception about the transmission exits and entries of the HIV-virus) will not only be an obstacle to combating the epidemic, but will restrict interventions that will help minimize the morbidity rate of this killer endemic. I truely support those that are creating the awareness campaigns, otherwise, when it's too late, who are we gonna blame, the Ethiopian for spreading the disease? C'mon grow up. (I blatantly suggested Ethiopians and Galoo's in general since many somali's try to paste their calamities and incidence of misfortunes-especially diseases-to the Ethiopians and the neighbouring Gaalo countries) . Did you know that the millions of Southern Ethiopians that are dying of hunger, malnutrition, Faminine, tropical/infectious diseases are predominately Somalis living in the Ogaden region? This people live in the worst of the worst "pit-holes" you can imagine, even a desert scorpion will not be able to survive in this kind of personal and climatic conditions. Anywayz, tropical/infectious diseases have cure or can be overcome if proper interventions are implemented such as preventative measures that will aid in reducing an illness from becoming an epidemic. For Instance, pest-control procedures, Evaluating breeding habits of parasitic vectors such as the Anopheles mosquitoes that carry the plasmodium germ of Malaria etc. Public Health experts, in particular, Epidemiologists (like me or will be insha-allah ) that work on combating infectious diseases in Africa claim that it due to the changing of breeding habits of certain vectors, the resistance to chemical and pesticidial treatments such as Quinine(or MalariaQuinne for those who can r'member) and overall climatic and environmental changes that have resulted in obstacles that can reduce the rate of morbidity of infectious/tropicals diseases. In addition, not to mention the ailing economies and insufficient medical aid and supplies to the poor. In general, to say that we are MUSLIMS( alhamdulihah we are and ofcourse) and that we will not be "attacked" by this epidemic is 'intellectually-wrong' and selfish, since we will not be considerate of the poor, famine, and hunger-stricken somalis that have been displaced after the civil war. Besides, this virus is an opportunistic one that happens to 'starve' ones immune system of its lymphocytes(immune fighting cells) and can result in massive undug graves of poor somalis dying from simple illness such as Pnemonia, Malaria, Yellow-fever,etc due to lack of immune capabilities. Nevertheless, AIDs is not only spread by being intimate (out of wedlock or within the marriage) and use of sharp objects such as needles; it can also result from blood transfusion-think of all those refugees getting medical treatment(such as blood transfusion) or just vaccination from infected syringes??? My sincere apologies for the long post-its just that i get excited when it comes to public health issue-no wonder I luv being an Epidemiologist

  18. Exactly Lefty and Ameenah...no more talking, just some action!!! Dang!...just look at the coffee shops..somalis sitting there with there koob of Shaah listening to BBC..but doing notha!...sad  I was moved while watching Feed the children program on TV last night...they were showing clips of Somalis in the OGaden region of Ethiopia..dying of hunger, famine, malnutrion, sorrow, infectious diseases and worst of all AIDs. Walaahi, I was silently sobbing and thinking once I get my degree, insha-allah I would do something, however small it is...So, so sad and shame on us(somalis in the diaspora)...they way we boast so much and how illeterate, ignorant, selfish, and brutal sometimes we turn out to be...Ya Rabi, when will this cloud of sorrow move away and give rise to clear blue skies...

    Weakness?

"Having said that, i want to add something else. I have been seeing alot of posts about Soomaliland (and Puntland to some extent) i want to tell those who post anything about another group are just weak people who only seem to complain about things. I have been seeing alot of negative posts about Soomaliland, and i think those who do that are mostly some dumb ****** weak people. "...... Do you recognize the contradiction in your post? Shouldn't you be saying that regarding all not only one-sided (Somaliland)? ..(Iam not for either of the regions)

couuldn't agree more..with the above posters..I think the somalis have the worst nutritional guidelines/pyramid that any other africans. They majorly over-consume carbs and less of the Vegetable group. Nevertheless, instead of using sparingly on oils, they ofcourse use oil predominately in all meal cookings. Mind you, sad to say that most of the oils are of Trans-fatty acid and saturated origins that majorly contributes to athelosclerosis and heart disease. Point of clarification: Diabetes is not caused by uptake of sugar but is due to complications with you insulin level in one's body. Type 1 ( can be fatal, is genetic): due to lack of insulin hormones in the body-therefore have to be constistent with insulin shots Type2: Body resistant to insulin or low insulin levels that will not be able to correspond to body's flacuating glucose level. Type 2 can be overcome by exercise, and low glycemix index foods. apologies for the long post..but just little insight. Personally, I drink herbal tea or Chai. Some teas have antioxidants and flavanoids that can help with preventing oxidation of cholesterol(HDL-good-cholesterol) by higher homocysteine levels in the body . This is not to say that iam caffeine free but atleast Iam in moderation.
  21. Ordinary hobbies: playing volleyball, B-ball, ultimate frisbee, hanging out with boyz, listening to music, reading novels and attempting some crazy stunts like "drop-from-hell". Out of the ordinary: A humanitarian leader (with good cause, but without the fame part) , Marry a famous somali sports player(whatever the kind of sport) , become a pro-volleyball player , or become the Next Oprah .
  22. King..bro..have you asked your self the degree of her love to you as much as you do love her?....No need to ask her parents for her hand in marriage when the girl is still contemplating on whether to get married or not(big mistake!)..., she might have some other priorities in life to fulfil, or might have a different outlook of marriage life maybe from past experiences or such baffling obstacles and issues before she accepts your lifetime proposal. My, advice, is that you consult her and watch for hints...she might just accept your proposal but yet deep down she is not really ready for marriage..then a nasty divorce will be the outcome(hopefully with no kids-coz this will even be more constraining). For Xalimo7...I think, like the bro said, he got mad respects for you but you are trying to make the situation complicated for him if got him thinking double    .
  23. King...what world do you live in...Oh! I know what u thinking, U thinking that Danny Weirffel will take the superbowl by suprise since he won the Heisman trophy back in 1996. C'mon, this aint happening. The man can even finish one game without injuries...Iam thinking he been fakin' it so that he could end up with a bigger deal to the Seahawks....man! atleast the Vikings had a chance at the Superbowl...but I think we got a very good chance now of kickin' some ass with the new quarterback...He aight too ..... Anywayz, if it comes to betting' I would rather vote for the Browns than Redskins making it to the bowl...By the way, this year, Watch out for the Gophers raising some heads in the College Bowl....ASAD ABDUL-KHALIQ...u da man!....
