  2. Nope, i don't believe in Santa Clause but i do believe in Jeremiah Oginga Odinga I am sure you do. Is he your father?
  3. ILL CAPO: Believe you in Santa Claus?

  5. This is not even argument. To argue one has to present a rational form of reasoning (i.e. deductive, inductive, reductive) arguments. You know like with premises and a conclusion. Please do not besmear the art of argumentation. The dissenter's stipulations amount to nothing save an attempt at mindless bickering. Ah! some such minds invariably induce a sense of repugnancy. With Salaams PK
  6. After reading a thread of the "reality of dreams", I thought it an ethical duty to confute and make manifest the sophistry, the contradiction, the illogicality of that thread's insinuation. Thus I registered. Notwithstanding the obstinate nature of that poster, I forced him to perform a list of actions that encompassed a wide range of exercises such as "jumping to conclusions" , "beating around the bush", and "dodging questions". 7. This forum is for communication, so you are required to be able to communicate in the language of the forum, which is English(and to some extent somali, but that will change). You do not have to be a native speaker or perfect, but you need to be decent and most of all you need to try. Would not you agree? The recent hurricanes have had,I think, a detrimental effect on you. I am sorry to hear that. P.S. Please do not spew that gibberish about "academic cowardice" because you know that it has, as Wittengstein would say, no-sense (compare nonsense). However, should it make you feel any better to write that, then I would suggest that you scribble it on a restroom wall somewhere instead, that gives it a timeless power.
  8. J11: I find your implication downright obnoxious. To say that I am unorginal is a subjective evalutaion which you can rightly behold; however, to charge me with "plagiarism" (academic theft) is a different matter. Perhaps it was merely a typographical error on your part(or inappropriate diction). Whatever your conception of "plagiarism" is, you must realize that it does not mean "unoriginal"; they are not synonymous! Speaking of originality, I am convinced that you believe that unreadably bad grammar and spelling are justified as hallmarks of "originality".

Do you honestly feel that paranoid? Very well then. This is the last time I will address you. I did not know that you were emotionally sensitive. Ralli ahoow With Salaams PK

  11. A very informative paper. Hats off. P.S. What school of medicine do you attend?
  12. I think it would not be a bad idea to have a "thread" where SOL members can post thier pictures. Of course only those members who are interested in posting their pictures will post it. I am not computer savvy so I will not volunteer.
  13. here goes, i think religion is for the weak, i mean look at the "first world" and the rest ,personally i think religion is a like a good hondar car, very long lasting but man made. So you are, confessedly, an athiest. That is to say, God did not make man, but man made God. I have had many an argument and debate with seemingly "logical" athiests (you seem to be an emotive one)and I have consistently noticed that they are as dogmatic in thier disbelief as theists' are in their beliefs(even though athiests display a fascade of logicality). You must understand that dogmatic insistence is not the "intellectual" or rational way. I doubt very much that you are intimately acquainted with the "philosophical" arguments against God; however, you seem to prefer the "emotive" drivel of your mind. Perhaps you are not using the term "first world" in its conventional sense; the afore-mentioned term is a categorization of countries based on economic and social development. What has the "first world and the rest" to do with the logical or rational legitimacy of religon in general and Islam in particular. If you mean to say that "first world" (a subjective classification mind you) countries are more developed economically and socially as a result of thier "disbelief", then you are wrong. This is a classic case of non sequitur . In other words, your conclusion does not follow from your premises. Your claim is similar to this claim "If I read a book, then it will rain"; it simply does not follow and to infer that it does is a sign of idiocy. In any event, next time you post anything you must needs ascertain whether your post is logical at all. You can not possibly (unless you are a depraved fool) think that you can charge religon, gratitiously, with "inferiority" and "backwardness" without providing arguments with acceptable, adequate, and relevant premises. Maybe this "counter-argument" will "smack" some genuine logic into your admittedly irrational psyche. here goes, i think you are weak, i mean look at the "you" and the rest , personally i think you are not even average person(perhaps mentally challenged), not very long lasting and not man made That is to a great degree the "structure" of your fallacious argument!
  14. Classique I know a SOL member who has great knowledge of the reality of Dreams. Ask our esteemed brother, J11 (Cali) as he is well-versed in these matters. "Dreams are more real than life because it is good to think thus" he shall tell you.
  15. Question 1: Do all of us think of what we write when starting a topic or posting a reply? Of course one "thinks" whenever one puts pen to paper; one thinks, necessarily, as one writes words because language in and of itself implies "thought"; that is to say, all persons think however nonsensical their thoughts. Perhaps you meant to ask whether one thinks and writes in a "logically coherent" fashion. I strive to pen, as far as possible, polemic pieces, which do not suffer of a lack of "logical strength". Most of SOL membership, however, are more often than not, "illogical" writers! And I am strongly convinced that that will change. Question 2: If there were students that learn from the wisdom of the words we write (in SOL), do we think our words contain any useful information that can benefit them (student)? That what I write is nowise futile can be attested to by my writing. Most of the SOL Nomads, do not, I believe, knowingly or delibrately write "incognitve" posts; it is perhaps a lack of critical thinking skills that is the cause thereof. Unfortunately, the SOL fora of late has been permeated by a virulent pathogen. The conspicous symptoms of this virus are the pervasive posts that do not encompass any "comprehensible" thoughts much less educational or informative. Question 3: About chitchats, do our words in regards to general talk contain anything beneficial to any reader that browses SOL, or does our chitchat serve any purpose? Forums are were made traditionally as conduits for educated discussions, that is the very rationale behind a forum. Social chit chat has no place in any forum; however, if members have the tendencey to engage in chit chat, then they ought to join chat rooms. Perhaps this site is a forum/ chat room. Question 4: When we start a topic what is our intention? Are we after learning from others' opinions or just to seek popularity of some kind? Seeking popularity of some kind say you? Please tell me that you are but jesting before I take your words literally. Popularity and fame (not notoriety) often yeild benefits of some kind. An online forum would be a "unprofitable" venue for obtaining any "valubales". Still, I can imagine a despondent soul( being socially ostracized)who works diligently to attain fame in a virtual world. I am not so much interested in learning from other members of this site as in seriously discussing matters of utmost significance. I have reached a point in my life that I will not change any of my beliefs (social theories, islamic beliefs, philosophical theories, etc.). After having read many a book (islamic and otherwise), I do not think I will change considerably any of my core beliefs . I guess I would like others to marry into all my ideolgoies as I believe they are true. Hopefully, I can teach the nomads how to think "in logic". I have joined this forum after reading a seemingly intellectual piece on the Reality of life. What is real? The title of the thread, if I recall correctly, was "Dreams or Life which is the true reality". A classic thread of mere assertion and no argument. It went something like Dreams are more real than life because I say so. Wait a minute. Dreams are the ultimate reality because you cant prove that they are not. P.S. Posts have either an "educational" value or an "entertainment" value. The educational value should be given priority. I think the moderators and Admins would agree.
  16. As arabic poet said: "Fadac saaxib al-mizmaari wa al-qinaa wa maa ikhtaara can daacati allaahi madhabaa sayaclamu yowma al-cardi ayya bidaacatin adaaca wa cinda al-wazni maa khaffa ow rabaa" J11 (Cali): My intial assumption of you with regards to Music was a "incorrgible fanatic"(of course this is based on the various post you made with regards to that natural "aberration", music). It is good to see that your passion for Music in general and Somali music in particular is gradually waning.

Shabella: Think you this thread is indicative of "concious" cowardice? I think that would a most euphemistic evaluation of this thread. Cowardice, if it be intelligible (comprehensible), is a hundredfold better than insipid writing.

  20. I lack the lack of interest of genuine matters of existential and philosophical merit that most people lack the knowledge that they are lacking as they commence to enquire as to what other persons lack. Now this lack of interest is something many people at first do not lack, however, it is possible to lack this lack of interest in some such topics should such desire to lack this lack be sincerely desired. Thusly, you ought to perform some introspection and find what you so described as "desperate information": the wish to discover the what others lack so as to eliminate the lack of knowledge of what others lack; only now, this information will be about "you". What do you lack and why do you lack that which you lack?
  21. Are Humans "essentially" selfish creatures. In this life is it ultimately about how "I" can obtain salvation and how "I" can avoid damnation. Is it possible to worship Allah not of fear of Hellfire or want of Paradise, but to worship Him, as it were, because of "Him", out of sheer love. Is not the latter rationale more worthy of the Human "essence". Are Humans such that they are "existential" beings who can not ascend into greater heights; namely, the higher hieghts of ontologly? of existence? There was this beautiful arabic poem that engendered the meaning of the precedeing statments. Ah! it escapes me.... (laa jannatan uriidu walaa naaran akhaafu...) With Salaams PK

In this case, it really is not just words on a screen I agree with you brother. I have this obsession with arabic poetry. Good stuff.

And obviously this is completely pointless on an online forum catered for everyone to use and that’s EVERYONE not a selected few! Yes. I must own that I agree with your sentiments but I must quibble over your expression. The SOL fora is not to be used as "play grounds" by those who either delibrately or inadvertently "discolor" site content. I have stipulated this many a time; however, I do not think the Admins(the owners of this site) see this as a form of deteriorating the quality of site content; that is to say, in asmuch as one does not violate any of the "golden rules" it is fair game. You can post something like "bisaddii way boodday, kadibna canjeelo ayay cuntay" (the cat jumped then it ate "canjeelo") and you would still be "abiding" by the rules. The problem is not that some posters write cryptic messages but that the posters pen incomprehensible thoughts. Nomads, your thoughts and meditations need not be "intelligent" but "intelligible". If this rather notorious cult trend continues (I suspect it will become the dominant norm), then I think one has to seek refuge, as it were, elsewhere in the vast vistas of cyberspace.
