salam I wish i had a family in my city where i come home and see the food ready in the table.To me the last class i have is 4:45pm so i come home and pray asar then i get to the kitchen start cooking and i dont actaully cook little for me i make more food since i have 5somali guy who usually come knock on my door for afuur so you know how hard it is but i get ajaar. when iam dont i go back to school and start studying.And thats how my life is for ramadhan. Hey wassup ya....the way i grew up was quit different...but again i remeber that i was told by my macalim hussein that standing up infront of audience and giving out a speech is haram as long as its only woman it wount be haram but if a guy who is mature hear ya voice it's haram...also i came across when i was young i used to attend swahili duqsi which was diff from somali duqsi so i used to get up everytime when we have celebration i used to sing the qaswida where there was guy/woman.... so the way ic is if you are giving a speech about islam is not haram...but again if it's about haloween dance or kwanza dance that is haram coz you are incouraging other people to join some that is not involve in GOD so thats all i can say... and again thats the way i think but dont belive and follow wt i say.

sisade thanx sis for you helpfull words...but all the thing you said is actully talking about me.. i grew up in a different culture and different way in learning religion but i never hard that if you watch a t.v ya ramadhan is not required. the other thing is i have came across where ic alot of family cooking alot of food in a day iam actually refuring to my family if we say we will cook we will...but its not our attention that we wanna waste food no its just my family is a open house my momther would let stranger come in to our house and eat if you were fasting.. and we cant keep a track that only 2people may come to eat but is just i seen that alot.. also my sister she is maried she will cook alot of food coz she does not know if her husband may bring he's friends over to afuur so i beleave its not our attention to waste food but again the info you gave was really touching.
