  1. America failing test of history as offensive compared to terror tactics of pariah states By Charles Glass in Sulaymaniyah 09 November 2004 Muslim fundamentalist insurgents seeking to topple the government are holed up in a conservative city with little sympathy for secularism or pluralism. They raise the banner of Islam, and they call on the rest of the country to rise up and expel the oppressors. The government reacts by massing forces around the city. It demanded that the militants surrender or the city give them up. If not, the city would be destroyed. Fallujah this week? Yes, but it was also the Syrian city of Hama in the spring of 1982. The fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood seized Hama as the first step towards its goal of a national uprising against the secular Baathist regime. The Syrian President demanded their surrender. His army shelled the city, and special forces went in to kill or capture the militants. The Syrians employed the same strategy that the US is using now. Its tanks and artillery waited outside the city; they fired on militants and civilians alike. Its elite units, like the American Marines surrounding Falljuah today, braced themselves for a bloody battle. The US condemned Syria for the assault that is believed to have cost 10,000 civilian lives. The Syrian army destroyed the historic centre of Hama, and it rounded up Muslim rebels for imprisonment or execution. Syria's actions against Hama came to form part of the American case that Syria was a terrorist state. Partly because of Hama, Syria is on a list of countries in the Middle East whose regimes the US wants to change. Iraq's American-appointed Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, declared a state of emergency on Sunday to assume powers reminiscent of those wielded by Saddam Hussein: to break up public gatherings, enter private houses without warrants and detain people without trial. Perhaps in waging war against the Iraqis who want to expel the Americans and topple America's chosen Iraqi leaders, the insurgents have compelled the US and its Iraqi allied regime to behave like the two Baathist regimes that they believed were so totalitarian they had to go. Other Iraqi cities must now fear the use of what The New York Times correspondent Tom Friedman called "Hama rules" against them. Unrest in the northern city of Mosul, where relations between its Kurdish and Arab residents have deteriorated to the point where Arabs on the west bank of the Tigris and Kurds to the west rarely cross the bridges to each other's neighbourhoods. Already, because the autonomous Kurds of northern Iraq are the only ethnic group allied to the US in Iraq, Arabs have begun killing Kurds. And Kurds are seeking refuge in the Kurdish-controlled northern region. Mosul was the social base [of the Baath], said the deputy leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Noshirwan Ali Moustafa, in Suleimania. "There were 24,000 military officers from Mosul. The city is very poor. People went into the army and government service." With the army disbanded and most of the civil service unemployed, thousands of young men in Mosul have no work. The insurgents have made strong appeals to them to change their conditions by expelling the Americans. Religious appeals have turned against the Kurds. Residents report that graffiti in Mosul has appeared saying: "Kill a Jew. Kill a Kurd." Insurgent forces in Falluja are connected to those already in Mosul, the interior minister of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's government in the Kurdish region, Karim Sinjari. Sinjari, said. Abu Musab Zarqawi's representative in Mosul, a man he called Abu Talha, was actively promoting attacks on US forces there, he said. "They [islamic militants] exist in Fallujah, Baghdad and especially Mosul. Right now, a majority of the Kurdish Ansar al-Islam people are in Mosul. From Mosul, they want to carry out operations in Dohuk and Arbil. They have carried out two operations against this ministry." Mr Sinjari referred to two suicide bombings aimed at himself in the past year. The Iraqi forces with the Americans outside Falluja include Kurds, but the Kurdish leadership has been careful to avoid sending Kurdish units into battle against Arabs. They fear a backlash against the estimated two million Kurds who live in Arab areas such as Baghdad, Mosul and Samarra. William Polk, who served President John Kennedy in the state department, wrote recently: "Most Iraqis regard the government as an American puppet. The idea that America can fashion a local militia to accomplish what its powerful army cannot do is not policy but fantasy."
  2. US troops facing stiff resistance in Fallujah REUTERS[ TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 09, 2004 02:01:20 PM ] FALLUJA: A US tank company commander in Iraq said on Tuesday that guerrillas were putting up a strong fight in the Jolan district of northwest Fallujah, which is a rebel stronghold. "These people are hardcore. They are putting up a strong fight and I saw many of them on the street I was on," Capt Robert Bodisch told Reuters. "A man pulled out from behind a wall and fired an RPG at my tank. I have get another tank to go back in their," he said without giving details.

  4. Togane, is Togane. the guy can piss of anyone even his own clan and his poems are quite new to Somali;s
  5. Save your energy brother and write to the SL administration or even better make duca for the sister. Walaahi i am serious about this. I have done the lot, and will continue to do so Insha Allah. I have spoken to my freinds and relatives from Somaliland to keep contacting the human rights organisations based there in order to pressure the Somaliland adminstration to release the girl.
  6. No double standards dear, I love Mohamed Shiekh Osman, and Ahmed Dahir Awyes. However Xasan Dahir the man is a well known clan based warlord- fake wadad like his protege Yusuf Inda Cade. He fought in Bossaso, Gedo and parts of Mogadishu killing Somali's all for the aim of setting up a power base for himself. Before that he used to torture people in the prisons for the Barre regime so much for his religious credentials. He supported the Arta government headed by his cousin Abdiqasin, he even supported Aydeed and Xuseen Aydeed's governments. But this one headed by a man not of his clan, he says he will fight a Jihad, funny stuff the actions of the people of the deen that you support
  7. I'm sure there are similar stories of inhumanity and hypocrisy, but thank-god not everyone is going for this tit-for-tat game where the actual cause is lost somewhere in the middle and the suffering of the innocent is used as shots Who is using it and gainst whom? I want the girl to be released thats why I am highlighting this story so that it is not brushed under the carpet. You on the other hand are on a crusade to stop this story beacuse it might make some people look bad. Who cares, all I want is that the poor girl is released. If it was my own 18 years old sister I would not want it brushed under the carpet.
  8. LOL, does it come to Xasan Dahri Awyes, one of the truly religious folks Do you even know who Colonel Xasan Dahir Aweys? Have you heard of Shiekh Ahmed Dahir Aweys, a scholar of the deen and a brother of Colonel Xasan Dahir. He Ahmed was onced asked what was the religiouns stance on the phenomenon of the so -called Islamic courts being set up in the south largely by his brother. He replayed that they where not in accordance with the Sharia and that he did not agree with his brother and his movement at all. Ask anyone from the UK for conformation of that story and who Shiekh Ahmed is.
  9. Rahima, because we are talking about SamSam and her treatment. Enlighten me here,
  10. what about the NEW incident of a girl THIS TIME from SL name d MAKA , again on a vissit, getting raped , tortured , etc etc by PL police ???? JB, provide the link and you shall see where I stand on that issue.
  11. I’m sure the pendulums of hypocrisy and inhumanity are swung both ways- you are choosing to see one side. In the case of SamSam how? As for leaving it alone no way pressure must be excerted until she is released and those that harmed her are put to justice.
  12. Do you know Maxamad Sh. Cusmaan (co-owner of Dalsan )? The Somali scholar? Very good family friend. LOL, I know him, I have love and admiration for him. I also know that he is a rival politicaly to the President and it has been bad from the days of Al-Itixad conflict with the SSDF. Dear Rahima its not good putting words in people's mouth for I knwo Shiekh Mohamed did not say that the President hates ISALM. As you want to convince us. Is that rash (from the stress) diminishing You the one who is mentioning stress dear, winners dont stress
  13. So far we have yet to see any SL condone the crime, question it maybe considering the Somali media is not reliable, but certainly not condone. So why attack SL? Beyond me. I attack the adminstartion not the people cause they and specialy their Vice President are the reason she is in that situation. The fact that the girl has been in jail for months and that no demonstrations happened shows the fear that exists in Somaliland. The topic has been done to death; i don't know why it keeps coming up. How can you say such a thing, when she is still in bondage? When her family are worried sick, when her whole life has been turned uside down. Where is your sense of compasion or even justice in this of all months? This is a crime against ISLAM and I see no Culima takinga stand, I see no one speaking except for her family and the region that she hails from. The hypocracy of people is this, that they would defend their warlords and fake wadadas such yusuf Inda Cade but they would ignore or even play down what happened to an innocent Somali girl at the hands of a so called government.
  14. Man, stop deluding yourself brother Smith , adeer CY detests the people of the diin. That must mean he hates his own daughter who is very religious and a large number of his inner family who also are. Or are you of a special people of the deen? Rahima, a Muslim must not slander other muslim's specialy those they do not know, its evident you dont know President Abdullahi and are going by what your clans folk are feeding you Its funny how irrational some people get, What Culima are you on about? Is it Yusuf Inda Cade and Xasan Dhari Aweys? Your talking loads of trash, to think that you care more and are more religious than everyone else is silly and that you are a defender of the faith when we are not is just insane.
  15. Rahima dear, the Somaliland adminstration has been abusing a young Somali girl who's uncle happens to be a minister of theirs imagine what they would do to the ordinary folks of PUNTLAND. This incident has opened our eyes.. As for Puntland, its a Somali state and not a so called republic.
  16. Juma My stance is simple, Somalia needs an army that can control the whole country, and there must be no clan, courts, business or individual security forces in the country. There must be a limit to the ownership of weapons by individuals. Now, why you get defensive about this issue I don’t know, maybe you are in favour of independent militias roaming around the country, doing as they please. The problem exists and should be tackled lets not be abstract about it, but the approach to tackle it is delicate and needs tact and ability which is either absent from this President or he wants others to do his dirty work for him. The opposite view is the President is a realist, an experienced military man who understands the magnitude of the problem and has taken steps to get support from the neighbouring countries. It is after all the neighbouring countries who have armed opposing factions since the outbreak of the war. As ever you don’t present a real clear alternative to the issue of foreign forces apart from lets trust the Somali factions to keep their word, what if some don’t? Irrational hysteria and closet clan sentiment does not excuse the fact that Somalia has multitude of warring factions, many with various reasons for exiting all hampering the progress and development of the nation. Wiiilo, Somalia is a failed state and it must not become a haven for drug production and what many refer to as terrorism. The best way to insure this is by giving the country back to the people and making it transparent so there is no excuse to say that it is a hide out for terrorism.
  17. Wiilo, has Somalia an army or security forces? Does it need training and support to create such an entity? Also do you suppose the President and PM will undermine the success of the government they are heading?
  18. Juma, As I stated before if we [somali’s] manage to disarm ourselves then there will be no need for foreign troops. However if some of our MP’s and other groups outside the parliament decide to take the selfish route then there has to be a way of dealing with them. I hope that’s an easy enough answer. The foreign forces are needed for, training the new Somali army and for the decommissioning of weapons, as well as for looking after the security of the government and the MP’s. As for terrorists, there are many definitions for it but I will give you an example, the people who killed the retired officer in Mogadishu a couple of weeks ago and who seriously wounded General Mohamed Abdi Mohamed this week are terrorists and they have to be dealt with.
  19. In ay ka amar qaadan doonaan dowladiisa.........Yeah we will see that happen. Refresh my memory in Somalia when did you hear that before??
  20. wiilo, The Culima are not terrorists, the terrorists are all those that hold weapons and want to stop Somalia from becoming a normal functioning country. The foreign troops are needed in order to disarm the groups mentioned who continue to hold Somalia in bondage, those that think they are beyound the rule of law. As you know we have no army or security forces, this group will substitute for that. But if you read the article above with the PM, you get a clear picture that if we manage to disarm ourself there will be no need for foreign troops. Juma, the President has set out his plan, to get Somalia stabel in one calander year... That is a noble task and one if acheived will be celebrated by all the Somali people.. Also Juma, its funny how you only opick out Dayniile.com
  21. Juma, I will go back to Mogadishu soon brother, I need not worry about accomodation got nuff family there
