23 March 2013 - OTTAWA, CANADA–(Marketwire ) – Mindesta Inc. (“Mindesta” or the “Company”) (OTCBB:MDST) wishes to announce that it now has an option to earn an interest in a third exploration permit in the Republic of Somaliland. Mindesta is already earning up to an 80 per cent interest in, and can ultimately acquire 100% of, the first two mineral exploration permits issued by the Republic of Somaliland under an existing Option Agreement with Nubian Gold Corporation (“Nubian”). Nubian was recently awarded a third permit, Abdul Qadir, which is approximately 2,000km2 in size and is located in the northeast part of Somaliland adjacent to the borders with Djibouti and Ethiopia. Abdul Qadir is automatically included in the Option Agreement pursuant to its terms with no change in expenditure requirements. Nubian has agreed with the government of Somaliland to reduce the size of the Arapsyo and Qabri Bahar permits by 50% following completion of the first phase exploration program. Option Agreement Nubian already held title to two 2,000km2 mineral exploration permits, Arapsyo and Qabri Bahar, in the Republic of Somaliland. Under the Option Agreement, Mindesta can earn a 50% interest in these permits, as well as any subsequently acquired, by incurring total exploration expenditures of $2 million within two years and can increase its interest to 80 per cent by completing a bankable feasibility study on any permit. Mindesta is required to make an upfront cash payment of $100,000 to Nubian as compensation for expenses incurred, and the first $750,000 of exploration expenditures represents a firm commitment. Mindesta also has the option to acquire all of Nubian’s remaining interest in the permits at fair market value at any time after incurring the first $750,000 of exploration expenditures. The initial $100,000 payment to Nubian has not yet been paid. Field Program Mindesta has completed a stream and rock sampling program over the Arapsyo and Qabri Bahar permits which involved taking over 2,000 samples and has already initiated a similar program on the Abdul Qadir permit. The Company has received some preliminary assay results but the majority are still at the lab waiting to be processed. Once all results are received, the Company will analyze and compile the data and plan a second stage exploration program to follow up on the most promising targets. Mindesta has established an exploration office in Somaliland and currently has a staff of approximately 30 employees. To date, exploration expenditures of approximately $410,000 have been incurred. The Company will require additional financing to execute the second stage program. The Nubian Shield encompasses parts of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Somaliland and is host to many major mineral deposits including Bisha in Eritrea, Sukari in Egypt, and five gold/base metal mines in Saudi Arabia that are owned and operated by Ma’aden Gold, the state mining company. Somaliland has over 30,000km2 of exposed Precambrian rocks. Extensive sampling and mapping by the British, US and Russians in the 1970s identified a number of areas that are anomalous in gold, copper, lead, zinc and nickel. The program is being supervised by Remi Bosc who has 15 years of experience as a mineral exploration, resource and mining geologist in Europe, Africa and south- east Asia and was project geologist during the discovery of the Tasiast deposit in Mauritania, and Tucker Barrie Ph.D who is a recognized expert with a great deal of practical experience in the Arabia/Nubian Shield. Gregory Bowes, CEO of Mindesta stated that: “the Company has achieved first mover status in an area of the world which we believe has very attractive geology and an underappreciated political situation and the acquisition of the Abdul Qadir permit solidifies our position.” About Somaliland The Republic of Somaliland is located on the Red Sea between Djibouti to the west, Somalia to the east and Ethiopia to the south. Somaliland is a former British colony that gained its independence in 1960 and became a member of the United Nations. Somaliland subsequently agreed to join Italian Somaliland, in an informal partnership that was never ratified by their respective parliaments, to form the greater “Somalia”. Following the collapse of the Somalia government in 1992, Somaliland withdrew from the partnership and reasserted its independence. While the rest of the world has not yet officially recognized Somaliland’s “re-independence”, Somaliland has held three free, fair, and non-violent elections, it jails pirates and extremists, and it is one of the few functioning democracies in Africa and the Middle East. About Mindesta Mindesta is a junior exploration company that trades on the OTCBB and is an SEC registrant current on all 10k and 10Q filings. The Company has approximately 9.4 million shares outstanding. C. Tucker Barrie Ph.D., P. Geo., Vice President, Corporate Development, is the Company’s a “Qualified Person” under Canada’s NI 43-101 requirements and is responsible for and has approved the technical content of this press release. Somalia is not Afganistan no mountain to hide. i Hope the government get serious shapes up SNA . I 'm not fan of Ethopians if they choose leave i welcome it . The Au and SNA are doing great job . SNA will get stronger soon with arms embargo lifted ,,,, more training and funds will the job Somalia is not Afghanistan 2 reasons , Taliban is fighting NATO not some rag tag African Amisom forces. Taliban is more important than Shabaab while both are two terrorist organizations Yet not from the same caliber, But the world doesn't care about that they will try to stop it. By the way SNA has a long way to go when it comes to building an army they need to deal with the several militias with in the army they need good training new equipment and after all the trust of the rest of Somalia particularly those who want to establish their federal states like Jubbaland and others but good luck to you we wish you the best.

Opinion will not change because soon there will be a generation who will not remember Somalia they will just see it as a neighbor who are opposed to their country and right to existence. The anti Somalia sentiment will not change in Somaliland as long as relations are as the statusquo as for the Ethiopians the old generation like me and others still distrust the Xabashis. But the ordinary Somalilanders have no problem with the xabashis since the xabashis dont claim their land. And as long as the status quo continues Somaliland will have more trade relations with Ethiopia than with Somalia remember the berbera corridor project. There are Ethiopian Universities in Hargeisa Ethiopian livestock is exported from the Somaliland ports not to forget the ethnic Somalilanders in the Kilil 5 administration. If Koonfurians were smart they would respect the wishes of their brothers in Somaliland and live side by side and there could be great relations between Somaliland and Somalia and closer cooperation sometimes you have to let go to win something back. Its very sad that the 2 Somali countries Somaliland and Somalia cannot trust each other.

Somaliland and Somalia conflict is very easy to solve what is needed is honest mediators ( negotiators) to come to a solution by the way the international community both put pressure on Somaliland and Somalia to continue these talks but the Arabs always have an agenda and i do not want them to be the mediators but rather members of the African union. Its really out of your control now tell me what are you going to do when the Ethiopians leave you, How are you going to face Alshabaab? Who's going to fill the vacuum By the way careful who you mock Boqor raabi is not a minority he comes from the most dominant clans of Somaliland. But the law is the law and its the law of the Land as for sifir if he can be useful and serve his nation why not he is a Somalilander after all the same as xaglatoosiye who fought against the Somaliland troops. And is now respected Minister and is serving his nation.

Dr Sifir Got rewarded while the Elder minority man got 2 years ...... its dammm shame Sifir repented if Buuba today asks for forgiveness and comes back he will be rewarded because Buuba him self was an SNM veteran. There is a rule in Somaliland go where ever you want but if you come back there are consequences its not something new. Cigaal locked this guy up to after the carta conference nothing biggie. if Boqor raabi went to xamar and didn't go on TV and talked about securing MP seats in Xamar and just did his daily shoppings in Xamar he could have returned and no one would have said a thing. Former Kulmiye deputy Abduqadir talyane was in Xamar for 2 months and came back 2 weeks ago no one said a thing.

Boqor raabi went to Xamar not just for Ganacsi reasons he went there to take part of the Parliament formation of Somalia there are even videos proving that. If Boqor raabi today went to xamar and never mentioned politics or that he represent his clan than there would not be a problem its not a crime to visit xamar or to do business there my little brother is currently in Xamar. But to say you represent the people of Somaliland is just wrong

SNA soldiers fight each other in Lower shabelle marka
Xaaji Xunjuf replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Tensions high in Marka following deadly clashes on friday Hiiraan Online Saturday, March 23, 2013 After a day of clashes between Somali armed forces, tensions are still high in the coast town of Marka, the administrative capital of lower Shabelle region. Somali federal government is trying to mediate between warring sides, while military officials from Mogadishu is expected to reach there, but reports still confirm that both sides are re’inforcing their positions. Residents in Marka are forced to stay in their homes amid fear of violence escalation, while most of the businesses are closed. Deadly clashes have erupted on Friday when Somali forces turned their guns on themselves in a checkpoint in the town following unidentified dispute. Merca, an ancient port city on the coast of southern Somalia, is located approximately 70 kms southwest of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. -
Whats over i can give you a source that your goverment is not pleased with the ethiopians leaving Somalia. And you say u welcome their departure either you are lying or your goverment is dishonest. Lol @ 2 regions Somaliland is in full control of its country the past 2 decades, no one can change that and certainly not Amisom guarded HAG community. Alshabaab is not history if the Ethiopians leave Alshabaab will fill the vacuum, the SNA cannot defeat alshabab on their own gedo hiiraan bay and bakool are free of Alshabab because of the ethiopians if they leave you are in danger.

The Arabs particularly the Khaleeji Arabs have really changed their stance on Somaliland the UAE and Kuwait the relations between Somaliland and Arabs were very hostile just a few years ago. There were rumors the Somaliland goverment was considering leasing the berbera port t to Dubai ports international. This is the second trip the Somaliland president is visiting the UAE,there are also some sources in hargeisa saying he might visit Qatar to it all looks that Somaliland is enhancing closer relations with the Khaleeji Arabs. On the Talks with Somalia having talks with Somalia on arab soil i would not suggest that. Somaliland and Somalia should pick an African country or a European country Kenya Djibouti South Africa America United kingdom.
