I would prefer those you mentioned to wear the penguin hijabs! because its better to be covered up in bright Stripy pink then to have so-called Muslim sisters with butt cheeks hanging(tom boys I’d imagine) out and tits popping out. I am not anti-Hijab IBZ! I love the hijab! It’s an institution that demands respect, especially in these difficult and islamically challenging times! Those who wear the penguin hijabs are normal people as well, who should be guided towards modesty and humbleness. Don’t try to philosophise the point! Perhaps i didnt make my point clear! or maybe it due to the highly sensitive nature of the hibaj!
  2. Indhacade might a reference to a condition of his eyes, perhaps he has untreated cataracts! What are you views of the penguin style hijabs Mr. NG?? You have developed a method of skipping around all the threads like a school girl on a rope without actually taking a stance of certain issues!! You have exhausted your impartiality theshold!

Sxb, I have no problems with the hijab, in fact I have always supported but I think there has been a miscommunication between my intentions and what people are asserting my intentions are. I am merely saying these bright, conspicuous and attention-grabbing colours and styles are not in tune with Islam and modesty. As Malika so eloquently put it: ‘‘Wearing attention grabbing colours is not very Islamic. A garment which is intended to conceal a woman and her beauty from public view cannot be a thing which enhances her beauty. Therefore, the garment should not contain bright colours, bold designs or reflective materials that draw men’s attention to the wearer. Imam Adh-Dhahabi says in his book Kitab AI-Kabalir (The Book of Major Sins): " Amongst the deeds which a woman is cursed for are displaying the adornments she wears, wearing perfume when she goes out, and wearing colorful clothes " Hence, the Muslim woman is encouraged to wear muted, somber colors and to avoid bright designs, patterns and colours.''. Also these penguin style hijab are aesthetically dreadful. What does it say about Somali women? It screams: sluggish and can’t be bothered to make an effort! I am sure you could look good dressed modestly. Personally I am turned off those with Penguin Hijabs!!, but then then again these tend to be recently arrived immigrants or middle aged women!!

May Allah give me the strength to wear that one day. Buxxo i agree with you! but wearing a religious article doesnt really define your faith!! I think we need to be more open minded. Many problems that we Muslims face these days is because we are so worked up in our old traditional and cultural values and have infused them with Islam. Most of these traditional and cultural values have absolutely nothing to do with Islam. We have actually forgotten how flexible our religion is. JB, thats a pathetic suggestion! nudist camps are immoral!!
  5. This type of hijab has become endemic amongst the Somali females in the west and in particular the busy streets of London. This is a worrying phenomenon and should be offset as soon as possible with preventative measures! If the whole point of wearing hijab is for modesty, why we do see this in all sorts of conspicuous and attention-grabbing colours and style. There should be new legislation against this type of hijab! I understand we live in a democracy and should have the right to wear what we want but this type of a hijab is absurd and unacceptable. It doesn’t achieve its religious objectives nor does it promote modesty or humbleness. It’s also dangerous and makes our woman highly susceptible to attacks from islamophobes or those who eyes have been hurt from the bright and highly luminous colours of the penguin hijabs!
  6. All the better! scored against the scum of North London! Share your greatest goal!!!
  7. Originally posted by Emperor: Marx, what clan are you from, in other words what is your qabiil? ..... Just courious, you see its a traditional Somali way to know each other's clan, and in here most of us actually know what clan is everyone else, its you thats unknown, so bal tell us, Lool.... I thought i made my qabil clear a long time ago. I was born in Djenne, Mali but raised in Saylac, Somaliland. I am a tribe-less person with no allegiance to any qabil! I don’t think my qabil defines who i am ( a hint there!). It’s not important. In fact many of my closest friends and people in general dont know my qabil. I don’t tell them in case they try to categorise me! Contrary to many people perceptions on SOL, I speak almost flawless Somali with a standard accent! Although I prefer to communicate in my mother tongue (Bambara) when at home! Or many of the other languages I am fluent in: English, Somali, French and Bambara. Speaking of censoring qabil names! Why are derogatory terms like 'MADIBAAN', '******' and and 'YIBIIR' allowed to be hurled around the forum like lethal bullets without been censored? There seems like there is a consensus on the treatment on these innocent and Somali people! Make Allah make their suffering easy and give them opportunities that allowed 'them' to move up the Social hierarchy in Somali and wherever 'they' inhibit! How many of you would still love me if I was from ‘non-noble backgrounds’ or do you select people based on their social order and qabil name!
  8. Saalam soo dhawoow! Let me take this opportunity to welcome you on behalf of all the nomads on this site! its very impressive site where you could learn alot but also a place where you could easily become disenchanted and lose hope. The key to success is to keep your resolve and never share your opinions! safe guard them or many of the highly educated and articulate people on the forum can savagely destroy your hopes and dreams for their own gratification!! This place takes cynicsm to a whole new level!
  9. I have in recent years grappled with the notion of tribalism, its a disgusting divisive disease with no rational explanation. To my surprise, I was ravaging through some achieves at Home and found an article about the discrimination faced by what has been termed ''those from non-noble backgrounds'' to my shock and dismay. I read the article with absolute shock and I am really ashamed by the treatment of these Somali people by their fellow Somalis. Does anyone know where this derogatory term came from? And how do those who stigmatise and discriminate against these people justify their behaviour?
  10. I am sure Somali women can roam around Mogadishu!! without any fear or intimidation. Those who label Mogishudo a dangerous and violent city are outsiders with voyagistic ideas!
  11. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XlbELSBXW3s&feature= channel_page Pimping aint easy... this is top notch..
  12. Since you took it upon yourself to be the promotor of the interests of other nations!
  13. the idea of ibz and xidigo engaged in a timo jijid political contest is not pretty sight! but still sheer entertainment Odds: do we have any takers!? 2/1 for Ibz 3/1 for Xidigo
  14. there is no room for those who self-hate and promote the interest of other nations! that is tantamount to treason! punishable by years in hargeisa central prison with no phone link to with either Gaza or Burco!
  15. As an awdalite and a Somalilander, Dahir Riyale is a war criminal like Morgan, although to a less extent, however he should be tried but based on the shaky evidence mentioned today, he is likely to continue his reign as the president of a democracy! your reference to 'brothers at the other fence' is the xenophobic attitude that has destroyed a once prosperous nation! divisive attitude like will not be heeded in the republic!!
  16. Let Morgan run for president! we will extract revenge! that would make things equal amongst other things! The Somaliland defence force, will arrest this criminal and execute justice at our discretion! Dahir Riyale is also a war criminal but he has been redemped! if Morgan wants to be baptised and saved, i think SDF will carry this task out with mininal distress!
  17. Classic Youtube Clips of a Somali man, though i doubt he is off Somali origins! He looks Kenyan Impersonating a Rasta Man Crazy Somali man returns Mulllers final Rap
  18. This is wonderful news! Imagine if we got our acts together and established peace in the somali pennisula. The possibilities are endless! We are people of honour and dignity in the face of adversity. This is testimont to the potential of our people. I often cry my-self to sleep thinking of the wasted potential!
  19. The biggest obstacle to a unified Somalia, for people such as myself is that war criminals continue to be sheltered and widely supported in South Somalia. Gen. Mohammed Said Hersi(Morgan) "Butcher of Hargeisa" is widely accepted as being responsible for many other atrocities committed against the Somali population during the Barre government and during the civil war of the 1990s in the region of Kismayu. His military campaign in Southern Somalia in 1992 was one of the main causes of the famine in Somalia in that same year. As a consequence 300,000 Somali may have died. In 1988 operations conducted by the Barre government against Somali National Movement (SNM) rebels in the northern part of the country led to the death and imprisonment of thousands of Somali civilians by the Somali National Army. Gen.Morgan was in charge of these operations. It is generally accepted that General Morgan, who was in Siad Barre's Government at the time, was responsible for the shooting of a large part of the male population of Hargeisa. An independent paper written for the UNHCR by Professor Kenneth Menkhaus in August 2003 stated, "General Morgan is a political pariah, likely to be the first Somali leader charged with war crimes at some point in the future.". However, as yet no charges have been leveled against General "Morgan" by any international criminal court.
  20. Thank you Adam Zayla for preparing that well articulated and presented report on the progress made by Somalis. Our community is indeed making many great strives towards integration and this is very postive. I think there was a slight miscommunication between us, i was merely making notes of the rapid increase of revert marriage but I acknowledge that is the result of intergation. Rather than calling people self-hating perhaps we should recognise its a result of intergation and many other social factors. Athough there are a high number of self-hating somali people amongst us. Thanks Again Brother!!
  21. I am sorry if my shukaansi is below the standard you are use to! do forgive my sub-standard performance!
