I think pele is slighly over-exaggerated! he won the world cup a few times but in todays footballing world he wouldnt be the star he was back in his time! I am an Awdalite, and the overwhemling majority of people from awdal support the somaliland government. Its all an issue of political representation, if awdal joins the Somalia then our representation will be 1/18 and our political voice will diminish considerably, however if we stay with the Somaliland Govt, we are more represented as our representation is much higher at 1/6 states. Those Awdalities who oppose somaliland are evil and not worth of mention! What exactly did the somali govt do for awdal in the 1980s and beyond. it was one of the most deprived and under-developed states in somalia. Dualism was highest there!

We do not share any culture, language or religious practices with our fellow Black Africans. As Muslims, we worship along side our co-religionist from Asian and Arab countries, but just as we diverge from Black Africans, Somalis do not share other aspects of culture, language or dress with their co-religionist. You could actually argue Somalis are the most superior people on Earth, our bloodline has not been diluted by the colonisers and those who have tried to conquer the Somali peninsula. If you look at a country like Sudan they have lost their indigenous cultures through Arab imperialism. Furthermore Somalis have fought of ancient Egyptians, Arab-islamo colonisers, the ottomans, the Egyptian colonisation of the 19th century and more recently the western colonials; they have all left their imprints but have not dominated and subjugated the Somali people. We are a strong people which is testimony to our homogeneity and cultural resemblance!
