Good God, will the copy and paste never end?!?!

OG girl, I aced it apparantly. Lost 2 points for the outline cuz the stu***d printers at my school can't be trusted. NEways, my prof writes on the evaluation that I was focused and clear and that I had nice delivery. Personally, I lost my train of thought a coupla times (both due to the fact that some dude rudely came to class late..and practically wrestled with his chair). I'm glad its over though.

FirstLady, Don't you just hate presentations?!?! I have one on monday and Im nervous about it...but I like the nervesnous because it adds a little juice to your presentation. Trust me, all 50 people don't want to be up there either. So use the nervous energy positively...but like someone said above.....PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, until it pretty much rolls off your tongue...don't try to look anyone dead in the eye. Look at their forehead or something...lol..I find that works better.

Positive, I might be mistaken, but doesn't every culture change with time? What the Somali culture in the homeland the spitting image of the culture that existed 100 years prior? Change can be good or bad ...whatever you make of it really. In any case, positive, your categories are over-generalising people. So why don't you fully describe to us what the "perfect" Somali culture is? and where can one find the manual?

lol I never said anything about the power of ALLAH. If He wants you to be healed, then so it shall be. In the meantime, how would you treat illness such as schizophernia (?sp) or Clinical depression?

Originally posted by wind talker: EXPLANATION - Can't believe people are so materialistic nowadays! In the Islamic world, the Qur'an is read on a person who experiences mental breakdowns or disorders. lol are you kidding? Please say you are! So if I have cancer, I should call my local Imam to have him read the Koran over me? Therapists are SPECIALISTS in their fields and therapy has EVOLVED during the ages, as did medicince and technology. The way people treated illness during the Islamic era is not the same way we practice now. As with dentists committing suicide, Therapists aren't Gods and when a person's time is up ...its up!

Originally posted by Northerner: The important thing is to defrenciate between slavery galo style and slavery through islamic ways. There are rules on how to treat your slave. ie treat him as your brother. Slavery is slavery is slavery. The arabic way or not, doesn't make it right and acceptable. You take away someone's freedom and at the same time treat em like a brother? I don't think everything was THAT pretty and nice back in the day. -

Qori, Here is what I found: http://www.understanding-islam.com/related/text.asp?type=question&qid=619 It's so easy to copy and paste, isn't it? -
Lakkad, I might just take you up on that offer. Thanks

Think-tank, I read it a long time ago somewhere which is why I didn't include the name of the scholars (who are not one of the madhabs, if that's what your looking for). -
Never tried. I usually don't read political/autobiographical books. I've read quite a few african-american writers, but not african. I pretty much read suspense/spy thrillers. But I'm getting into other things at the moment.

Originally posted by wind talker: Joe Schmo or Joe the Cracker, whether he has a Ph.D in clinical therapy or not, is not always the solution to family problems. Explain why there's a remarkably high rate of suicide among dentists! Western folk can't understand the simplest of all idealogies: money and wealth don't earn you happiness. That's why they write endless ethnographies trynta decipher what makes rigid cultures that face the harshest conditions and realities but the people are still HAPPY! While a married dentist with a $100,000+ yearly income is committing suicide. Ok? What's this got to do with the topic at hand?

You are talking about racial slavery. But back in the prophet's time...there was no such thing as racial slavery. It was more political and from what I hear, it was never prohibited. -
