Garab, You got it twisted brother. I dont want to be equal to men. Why would I want to aim that low Stop complaining about how we are not in the same level and start proving WHY we're not. You keep going around the issues (is it safe to assume that you really do not have a POINT?) I am curious, though, about the surge of women-bashing on SOL? Are some men on here threatened that most of the sisters (if not ALL) are well educated and assertive in their mannerism? This needs to stop. Women do not want to be just like men....they want to do what they are allowed in the eyes of GOD, not in the eyes of MAN. Qac Qac, Actually, its spokesperson Underdog, Why dont you find yourself a nice respectable girl who fits your standards. Good luck while your at it, because in this day and age, women want to make their own decisions and not live under the rule of a man. There is no sense in being frustrated at how successful women are becoming, really!

Pet Peeves.(what pisses ya off) About SOME women
Reality Check replied to Tuujiye's topic in General
Can we stop the female-bashing thats rampant in SOL these days. and always from the same perpretators!  -
^ lmao @ your tag! *two thumbs up*
-
Qac Qac, So you are going to tell shabella and the rest of the girls on here when it is right by you that women work or when its not right? Garab tuujiye, lol, right, I guess someone doesnt know english expressions too well..so your excused. Uhm, the western world came up with the term feminist, but the idea has been around a long time bruh, do your history. Second of all, you are getting three things mixed idea. The role of a WIFE, the role of a MOTHER and the role of a WOMAN. Learn to differentiate between the three ok because the life of women is not as simple as you
-
I see. So instead of you staying home, and taking care of YOUR kids, you would rather a woman do that Gotcha!
-
^ see that's a girl who made her choice Besides, my mom raised us AND she worked. We all came out fairly sane...so that's one successful story, don't you think UD?
-
All I am saying is a woman can make the choice: to be a homemaker, careerwoman, or just plain ol' in the middle.. From your post, all I understand is your animosity towards women who work. Do you think careers are exclusively a man's "thing"?
-
Originally posted by underdog: No, I'm afraid of women making regrettable decisions. [/QB] What is regrettable, that she chooses to work? so is your stance, that women should NOT work? As for the divorce rate, i never mentioned the causes of it, but rather that divorce HAPPENS. I am not narrow-minded enuff to think that its all MEN's fault
-
Rudy, I guess congrats are in order.. Congratulations!

winger, check out the room with 4 people in it..

ALIAS! second choice : 24 Reality show: Paradise hotel (Athena, that show was on last summer for us  )

Originally posted by underdog: DA, I said nothing about denying women education, and I'm disturbed how you and your posse always raise that issue (you can quote me if I said you shouldn't get an education). How about the part where you said "career is a feminist lie". Second of all, its not logic to think that men will always be around. Isn't the divorce rate above 50% nowadays. That's a proof men are not always around. Look at the somali demographics. Didn't you notice all those women who have 5 kids but no husband in sight? My man will be expected to be a man, and I am supposed to be the woman. I think the whole conflict lies in what men think women are supposed to be. Let him be the father of my kids and support them. Let him go out into the world and work and interact. But do not say women do not belong there also. If career is a feminist lie, then Kadijah was the biggest feminist of all! (we're talking about the first convert here). I think that all men should just get over it! Honestly, are you all that afraid of women with options a friendly message

Press refresh....and look at the bottom of the list.
-
Gosh, why can't some men just stop the whining and figure out its not the damn WESTERN at fault for everything wrong in this world. Western and muslim men have the exact same mentality! and women are not having it. I say..just GET OVER IT..
-
UD, Coming from you, this thread is no surprise. To go around and say things like "career is a feminist lie" shows that you have a problem with women who "choose" to work and provide for themselves and their families. You would rather save a damsel in distress who relies on the male species for survival. This is a cutthroat world we live in where men cheat, lie and leave their spouses and kids. To not have women working or gaining education and work experience does not make sense. but then again, you must have the male definition of feminism; that feminists are lesbian man-hating bra-burning psychotic women with no feminine grace. Got that all wrong. Men just have a problem with women who make their own life-decisions, and i suggest you stop blaming it on the feminists and start getting real with yourself on how you view women. Sincerely, Damsel in control

Originally posted by Khayr: Salaamz, So reading from the examples given by this article, African Women and in general Muslim Women are preferred to be MANILY and can be VERY MASCULINE and this this is indeed a PRAISEWORTHY QUALITY. Lol, where in that article did you read that they were mascular and manly? They learned strategic techniques, yes. and if they were smart, used the men to carry out those strategies ..just like other male empire-builders who had their minions carry out the hardwork! So Khayr, do you think women who are in leadership positions can not retain their feminity or have you been brainwashed by the media you so often speak of?
-
how romantic!!! **secretly puking**
-
If we take Prophet Muhammad's example, he married his some of his wives because of the attraction he felt (ie zaynab) and others because of their intellectual companionship. Back to Nur's story, are you condoning that young girls should be taken on a "little" trip and be forced to marry off a guy? Sometimes I like what you write (that is if I have time or patience to read such long articles) but other times you disguise misogynistic elements into your posts. This one being one of them!
-
English definately. Typing paragraphs in somali looks weird with all those double vowels. Maybe when they changed the written language into latin words, they should've also used signs with the vowels or something. Anyway, I prefer english.

Originally posted by nervous-chic: you see my sistahs 'n brothas, muslim women have their place in history. we need to remember that the next time someone tries to say "oh, poor women, they are being oppressed" and sum 'ish like dat. Who said they were oppressed then? They are oppressed now. BTW, nice article!

Vanquish, Find proof of what you just said. That we are properties of MEN. Nomad, By calling them Jareers, you are implying that we do not have kinky hair...and that is a total LIE. Besides, by also implying that african-americans are "sankadhuudhi" you are saying that west africans are on the same boat (since they are, in fact, descendants of AFRICANS!). Somalis are the most confused people on this earth
-
I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware that we were the properties of somali men. Maybe that explains this rapid mentality that its a shocker to see somali women with other men.
-
Khayr, I don't think that's the case thou. You have totally ignored those women (and MEN) who've been raised in the culture, know more about the language and the deen than majority of us who date outside their race. This is not a new phenonmenon to Somalis only, as it happens in other cultures too. I personally know of people more somali than myself (and older) who've married indians, arabs, african-american and white men. How do you explain their circumstances? Can't be as simple as "they hardly see positive somali role models".
