  1. Rahima, I did read the rest of your post, but I only referred to that part. And what does the suffering of muslims all over the globe have to do with this particular beheading? Condemning the beheading does not constitute me being insensitive to murders of innocent muslims. But then again, we were not discussing that, now were we?
  2. I'm too much of a workaholic to get fired. Never been fired, and not planning on it. Layoffs though are different, because you can't help those situations and they are not a reflection of your performance.
  3. by rahima: Lakkad and crew, I suggest that all your sympathy be given to the Muslims, there just isn't enough to go around. Walaahi I'm so sick to death and tired of Muslims making such a bid deal out of such incidences when it happens all the time-the only difference is this time it wasn't a Muslim. Show sympathy because they are muslims? Do you know how ridiculuous that sounds? lol....Would yuo show sympathy to a child molestor because he is muslim and did it in the name of God? The issue here is whether their methods of revenge and using God's name to justify their actions is right or wrong? Every muslim does not have to get my sympathy because even muslims are capable of evil. There are muslim organizations that have the right intentions by utilize the wrong methods to get to their means. Should we support them then? or condemn them for their wrong actions? That is where the muslim community is lacking. We just don't stand up to the wrong that muslims do in the name of our religion. Therefore, these barbaric fools (who ever they are) will keep up our islamic fundamentalist image we see in the media on a daily basis, while we sit here and constantly complain about why o why the WORLD is against us. Takbiir
  4. Hasna, Happy early-Bday. (you are only few days older than me ) Taurus rocks!

He needs to prove that he is a worthy Qaxooti, if he still wants to secure his position in the Qaxooti Clan. It's a shaky situation, lakkad, but I am confident he won't disappoint!
  6. DO I ADMIRE WOMEN WITH HIJAAB OR WOMEN YOU MEET AT NIGHT CLUB AND WHY? Are we always forgetting the moderate non-hijab wearing sisters? To the original poster (if you are still around), There are alot of girls who wear hijab, but take it off to go to the clubs That's a fact. As there are guys who go to friday prayers, but go to jams/parties/clubs that very same evening. Then there are girls (many) who don't wear hijabs, are moderate in their demeanor, educated and assertive and always viewed as a clubbing-coming home the next day- miniskirt wearing freaks by judgemental Somalis. If somalis have narrow-minds like that, then I feel sorry for whom ever they end up with later on in life with that sort of mentality!
  7. ^ Yeah I have only half a brain. Mrembo, People either tend to really love the movie, or hate it. Sorry, I just thought the cinematography of this movie was genius. I love the fight scene with lucy and uma in the snow.

I think muslims should separate their dislike for American policy and the actions of muslims towards these policies. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you are against one, it doesn't mean you have to be pro another. In this case with the beheading of a civilian (on top of that, in the name of Islam) is WRONG. plain and simple. You can hate America all you want , but Islam teaches us to be the better person. Just because it is done in the Name of Islam or Jihad, does not make it right. There are rules and procedures even in our great deen. And I frankly do not appreciate people who tarnish the teachings of Islam.
  9. The question I would ask is whether these philosophers were men or women. It would make a world of difference, since they generalized all women who wear makeup(if they happen to be men and will never really understand a woman's psyche as to why she does the things she does). As a person who does wear makeup, I think that makeup just accentuates what you already have. Now, cake makeup does tend to change alot of woman's appearance, but again, if you werent "beautiful" underneath that makeup, it will not do much for you. Lord knows I wouldn't give two ****s about whether a man is attracted to me or not, or to make another girl jealous. I do, however, care about my appearance and take care of myself. Does that mean I have a low self-esteem? Or that I am just another sex-object in a man's world?
  10. Haniif, I'm sorry that you have no taste. Bourne Identity rocks! Checkmate, Just watched that movie. It was surprisingly good.
  11. It's always nice to be mentioned in topics I don't participate in.
  12. thanks bambina, I'll check it out today, since the indian store is less than a block away
  13. Alright, who ever said that Kill Bill sucked, take it back! That movies visuals and the action was nice. I can't wait to see the next one! I hear Bourne Identity 2 is coming out. Does anyone know when?
  14. ^ It doesn't matter if all the storylines are the same. It's all about the singing and the dancing! Besides, I think of it more as a musical than a movie.. Bambina, I only watched the first part of mohabattain, is the rest any good?
  15. A suggestion to save more space: Delete repeated topics! It just isn't cool when you see the same topics posted every 2 months, when they could've just searched for a similar topic! I've seem Mods in other websites remind theirs users that similar topic exists (by providing a link to that thread).
  16. I didn't know Snet bans? If it did, it wouldnt have half the members it does now! Mrembo, Ditto!
  17. Do you mean Western because they dont measure up to your somali standards?
  18. I've watched many bollywood movies. I can't read the titles, nor understand them. I only have fave actors whose names I don't know (ok, 'cept for ashwaryar and sharu khan). So I depend on my Indian or Pakistani friends to supply me with the good movies. Try asking your local indian movie store for good movies.

We see muslims painted in a bad light by the media..and here we are reinforcing that! Islam is about nonviolence, people.
  20. I think alot of Muslims are really missing the point. Why are there so many of us here in the western world, but a few of us actually involved in the political arena? instead of acting helpless and feeling injusticed, we should be trying to infiltrate the local, state, or federal community, so that we muslims can feel somewhat of representation. I remember when Bush was getting elected, many muslims voted for him because they didnt want to vote for liebermann, now I am thinking, was that wise? I think voting is key, and anyone with citizenship should do so! (now i feel like that damn MTV commercial), but every vote really does count. Some of us would like to think that they will be here temporarily anyway, and why even get involved in politics in a "kufr" land. If that is the case, then conditions won't change, and we'll all be suffering for it. Thats my 2 cents for today.
  21. Barwaaqo, According to professor S, you shouldn't care what they think because your parents are your enemies! lol
