world records are being smashed. I was just listening to the radio the other day and it was about Michael Phillips, swimming and this year's world championships. The broadcasters were saying that something like an astonshing 16 world records were broken in swimming, this year alone. Why? Because of new plastic suits that made the swimmers more aerodynamic/fasters (can't remember exactly). Point is - this is happening because of new technology. A world record generates publicity, which inturn generates revenue for the sport.
