You're misinformed about what spreads fitna, and what doesn't walal. Your obligation as a Muslim is to stop oppression first and foremost. This type of mentality is what propagates certain social ills. (check the domestic abuse thread - some good points were raised there) XG, I wish we had the answers walal. We certainly need more Muslim researchers and practitioners in this area. I think North American Muslim communities have made a notable progress in addressing family issues and creating a Sharia-informed support mechanism for women; organizations such ISNA and ICNA, among others, are providing much needed services. But more is needed. This sad incident has sparked further discussion among Muslim community leaders and masses, which is always good. In response, Shaikh Hamza Yussuf recently did a great lecture on this: . Explains the most misunderstood ayah in the Quran regarding this issue. More on Aasiya's murder: A histrory of abuse preceded Orchard Park beheading You are thinking as a Women first then Muslim somewhere down the line.... Where as you should be thinking as a Muslim first, your obligation is to the Ummah (which includes men and women) and not just to battered or killed women. Bad news does not benefit anyone. Hence, why in Islam, Slander is given a Hudood Punishment, making it a grave sin. Precisely because it spreads Fitna and Fitna is worse then Killing because rather than kill bodes, it chokes souls, divides families and turns people into kufr etc. P.S. This is sickening news and heartbreaking, hence why it is more of a confidence shaker in muslim products and in muslims in general. Fi Amanillah

Is God perefctly Evil? What an absurd title....Good and Perfection are in tandem with GOD and His attributes. Evil is the abscence of the Good. The better question is -Why is there Evil in the world? Which to a simple answer is because their is GOODNESS, because their is GOD. It is the Ying and Yang. The Devil is there because he went from being good to evil, precisly because he was not Perfection - God. Suffering is a necessary contingency of the world because after all, GOD is ETERNAL and the world temporal.

Originally posted by -Serenity-: The issue of siding with the ‘disbelievers’ is a multi-dimensional subject, subject to conditions like 1) Situation - are Muslims at war with non-Muslims? 2) If its not a war, is it still a stately issue concerning the Muslim State? 3) If not 1 & 2, is it an issue of faith and practice? 4) If not 1 – 3, it is an individual issue involving a Muslim and non-Muslim? Perhaps dispute over property, personal or criminal? This is where I would severely disagree with the above interpretation. An individual dispute is an individual dispute and must be settled fairly (depending on the governing body of the state, whether Islamic or democratic – unless the latter ruling conflicts with core Islamic beliefs). A crime is a crime. And a crime committed against another human being, whether Muslim or non Muslim is a crime nonetheless. You know when some of the early muslims didn't make the hijrah and came to the battle field with the quraysh because of fear and they hoped to switched sides during the battle and they lost their lives, Allah came down hard on them for siding with the mushrikeen of Makka. In sura Al Mumtahinah, when a sahabi who faught at the Battle of Badr, told the quraysh the Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) was going to surround Makkah (Conquest of Mecca) by surpise, for fear that his family who were in Medina would be harmed, Allah became angry at the Sahabi (even when the Rasul ((salallahu caliyhe wasilm) was willing to forgive him). It is an issue of where your heart lies and one sure sign of that is in what one speaks, is in their actions, their desires, their thoughts. To side with a criminal ‘Muslim’ brother/sister who has indiscriminately bombed a bus, is a crime against Islam. Wrong to side with them and wrong to take away their life for a non-muslim. A muslim's life is not equal to a non-muslim's life.

Whats the name of the book and its ISBN? NG hit the nail on the head. Is this dead woman a mistress or a 2nd wife? If she was a wife, then wife #1 has to raise the kid. The alternative being getting a new #2 to take the role. Because its safe to assume the reasons and situations that led to the acquisition of the original #2 are still present. Saxibo, When did you get your PH.D in psychology?

^^^ Haneefa, Sharing every info. about the muslim community is not in the best interest of the community. It just spreads waswasa/doubt in each other and feeds the muslim complexity that most have developed. Those of weak iman and will, will associate every NEGATIVE ACTION that a muslim takes with the ENTIRE DEEN.

Systems built on credit are bound to collapse. Today in the news, the big story was the review committee's hearings of the Securities Exchange Committee handling of firms. Congressional members were yelling "you could have stopped this....you could have have stopped this (in reference to the wall street bubble that began back in October, 2008)". My response to them would have been "and if we did, then you wouldn't be driving your G5 coupe and wouldn't have oak desks that cost $5000 in your office".

An Open Letter to His Excellency Sheikh Shariif Sheikh Axmed
Khayr replied to Koora-Tuunshe's topic in Politics
you must implement the TFG constitution that you took the oath for If it is true that the sheikh's alliegance is to the TFG constitution then he is on the wrong fought and no better then the others. I need a little bit of clarity here, is the Sheikh no longer part of the UIC? -
^^^ Good insight, SubhhanAllah, how history repeats itself over and over and over again....and yet, men never learn from it and have a very short term memory.

The Marriage Requirement of the 'New' Somali Man?
Khayr replied to MAXIMUS POWERS's topic in General
open mind, patience and flexibility there is something else missing there saxib and inshallah when you get married, you will find out and it will be like a jab from floyd mayweather. -
Abdinaftis Yusuf welcomes Sharif? Where is the Irony in that? Sharif should never ever speak with that man unless he is 6 feet underground. Hey, the Al Shabaab are being slighted here and they are the ones that did the job while Sharif was flighing everywhere. So there reaction is appropriate. He accused Sheikh Sharif of choosing the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) constitution instead of the Qur'an, the source of Islamic teachings and jurisprudence. If that is true, then he is not for the Deen but for Nationalism.

Slanders are cajeeb and to me are gareeb/strangers. JB, when the U.S. was flattening somebody's ayeeyo in Xamar with their F16 fighter jet, where were were the Slanders? Al Shabaab deserve massive credit. They got the Ethio's out and they resisted and now this is the thanks people give to them.

To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West - know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. Fair enough. Just pure hollyyyywoood rhetoric! During his campaign, who did he visit and rock back and forth with infront of the wailing wall? To me, this just sounds like the making of the dajjal. Legions and legions of euphoric ****** just cheering because - well it is in style to do so.

4) A strong base needs to be built, including military mighty to defend that city/country. This rules out guerrilla organizations that try to expand their territory without establishing law and order in the areas captured and bringing the population of those areas fully aboard, and via education bringing them up to speed and giving them the same base as everyone else. This will keep your stronghold more rooted and wider. This is probably the key destabilizing factor that plagued the ICU and Al shahbabah. In the case of the ICU, Sheikh Sharif and Aweys had different views which ultimately led to their demise. i.e. Sharif of the view of grassroots and not fighting and Aweys of the view of fighting and taking over multiple cities. Ibitisam, for an MBA grad, you are still a Muminah at heart - MashaAllah. You have swam some oceans.. May Allah preserve you iman and give you firasa/understanding. Fi Amanillah
