  1. I've long held the view that Sharif Hassan is a degenerate politician who not only is incompetent, but is extremely corrupt and dishonest. He isn't fit to run a Post Office, let alone be a senior Government official. He's exactly the type of poisonous person which the Somali Government needs to rid itself of Good riddance
  2. If I'm not mistaken, there were attempts made towards reconciliation between the ICU and the TFG in 2006, mediated by the Somali author Nuriddin Farah. However that didn't end well, as many of the losers who are Leaders of Al Shabaab today were also part of the ICU in 2006 If they truly cared about Somalis then these men wouldn't have acted in this manner. They are nothing more than wolfs in sheeps clothing

Just like Alexander Litvinenko converted to Islam on his death bed, I ask people to refrain from insulting the dead, for there is a chance he [Meles Zenawi] might have converted to Islam on his death bed. That's all. Being Muslim should not exempt you from being criticized....especially when the person is the Leader of a country. It's not like Aideed or Siad Barre were exempt from criticism....even though they were both Muslim My philosophy is: If you are a Politician or a Leader...then you're gonna get criticized and even insulted. Deal with it....if you can't handle criticism, then don't go into politics

Xamar will never recover becos it doesn't have the capacity to reach those ever-so-critical prerequisite for development. these are not difficult. they are peace, stability and most importantly governance. there is killings, pillaging and destruction on a daily-basis and not only towards the government but on a micro-scale affecting its social fabric. your people have become degenerates, they've evolved into pariahs and have developed an absence mind that is incapable of thinking let alone one that is capable of making strides towards development. if you expect me to believe that hype generated on SOL boards or the hyperbolic relative success covered by international media like TED then you've clearly mislead. at best Xamar and its environs will continue as it currently is - slight economic growth coupled with some semblance of governance and at the very worse - well... we haven't seen the worse yet but something similar to the criminality, rape orgies in mosques, protracted inter-tribal warfare and lawlessness of the worse type as witnessed in early 1990s and beyond anything seen or covered by international media. there is bound to be some evil force lurking in the background - when it makes it apparence, i shall again be there to state it but for now enjoy your success for now....! The only reason why the degenerates are walking around freely in Mogadishu is due to the absence of the rule of law. As long as the system exists, these degenerates will be shoved into prison where they belong. Every society has sick degenerates, but these societies made.the decision to lock these people up.
  5. Not everyone is for having an Islamic government in Somalia...especially after the failed Al Shabaab experiment. However, I support Al Islaax because they have a proven track record if doing the right thing, establishing schools and promoting peace. Islam is a reality in Somalia, it makes no sense to completely shove Islam out of the way when establishing a Somali State. Al Islaax believes aislam is compatible with modern society, unlike the useless degenerates of Al Shabaab or the Taliban who build nothing, but just seek to micro-manage peoples personal lives (banning soccer, forcing men to wear beards, etc.)
  6. Al Islaax has never been known to engage in terror activities. They are well known for engaging in charitable work and promoting the well being of the Somali nation. Dr Baadiyow, the Presidential candidate, is a well known member However they are considered, and they consider themselves as, the Somali equivalent of the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does raise concerns by some Secularists

The more I think of it , the more I see the picture that there is no way on earth that Somalis will ever get alone. Is like looking for cure for a family devastated by sexual abuse, physical abuse and mental abuse internally . They can try to talk about forgiveness and getting back to normality but there is no way getting back to the normal days. There were very few "normal" days in Somali history. We have for CENTURIES, fought one another due to tribal differences, and this is the main reason why we are still poor and backward as a people. I have absolutely no faith in most of the Elders....they have no understanding of politics, and no understanding on the needs of the Somali people. After this RoadMap is over with, I'd prefer them to take a step back and never involve themselves with Somali Public Affairs again.
  8. Oil isn't the answer to our financial problems though. If we don't have oil we are perfectly capable of overcoming this. I am strongly in support of building a solid manufacturing base in Somalia
  9. You're unbelievable Caraafat....Just unbelievable. you'd rather there be water inside the well than oil....oil which sells at $100 a barrel?
  10. Russians are especially infamous for racism and harassment of minorities! Even many of the Russians who immigrate to the USA/Canada don't let go of their racist beliefs.
  11. I believe Dr Abdullahi Baadiyo would be the right choice for Somalia... www.drabdullahi.so I really love his platform and he reminds me of Mohamed Morsi, the new leader of Egypt
  12. Well a ghost town is better than no town. This town can house 500 000 people, which is a LOT of people. Maybe the Government should invite foreign corporations to invest in the country, creating jobs whilst simultaneously expanding credit so the newly employed Angolans can acquire a mortgage. Most Angolans live in small shacks without even basic services. If the Government can figure out ways to move these people in, it can set off a chain of events which can create a strong Angolan middle class. This project cost 3.5 billion dollars, and it can house 500 000 people, so thats 7000$/person. Honestly i dont see this project as all that bad.
  13. ^^^well....women sure. But definitely not children lol There are plenty of capable Somali women out there, theres no need to limit ourselves by restricting the rights of women.
  14. This is 1 of the most disturbing things about current Somali affairs....this misogyny exhibited by a large percentage of the men in Somalia! We should be more progressive, and recognize the immense contributions women can make to Somalia. I dont know how we are gonna change the thought process of these men, but we have to start now. I know a British Somali man who actually believes that woman have no right to work outside the home. This is unbelievable!
  15. I think Puntland is behaving this way to insulate itself from the relative chaos occurring in South Somalia. Just in case these boneheaded Politicians in the South can't agree to establish a peaceful Federal Government, Puntland would be able to declare its own independence and already have all the right institutions to govern. And if the politicians in the South can agree on a Federal framework, then Puntland will be admitted as a Federal State of Somalia Its ingenious, and the late Abdullahi Yusuf deserves all the credit for this
  16. I would gladly contribute a portion of my paycheque every month to support the establishment of a professional Somali Army

Isn't it better to forget and move on where the situation is too confusing to rectify it? My family has old property somewhere in Hodan district, but I have no interest in claiming it. Instead I have my eyes on better land, still empty. This is not to say there shouldn't be some compensation, but twenty years is a heck of a long time, this is like opening a can of worms. The crooks are long gone, with only the purchasers who paid real money for it left in place. I completely agree with you--for the time being. My grandmother visited Mogadishu last year and visited her old house, only to find some random family living there. She couldn't do anything to evict them as the house was actually bought by this family. They bought the property from some Crook who claimec the property was his. So the situation is now too complicated to find a solution. However, for simpler predicaments, I think the government should take the case to Court and figure out a solution
  18. Chimera;849939 wrote: Piece of sh1t article. Somalia is moving forward regardless of whose president, prime-minister, mayor or ugaas. All these nasty characters will still be here five years from now, just as the nasty South Korean characters were still there five years after the Korean War and beyond, but the country move forward nonetheless. As long as there is a superstructure or the resemblance of one it will be infinitely better than our current predicament. As Somalia returns to stability and peace inshallah, a new generation of Politicians and Leaders will emerge who will be FAR more competent and sincere than the likes of Sheikh Sharif. As long as the System is in place, there are endless possibilities. People need to stop focusing on ****** and petty politicians and instead focus on the SYSTEM. Leaders come and go. People fail to see that
  19. Homunculus;849912 wrote: The laziness and corruption in the Somali government is holding this country hostage. The squabble over trivialities like the capital or borders will result in mini states like Somaliland and Puntland and many others to form their own countries. This line "well-armed men some linked to the TFG’s forces are now gang raping women and children on a full time basis" is a reminder that this country has devolved into such a state that it will require generations to remove this barbarity. That is completely silly. Please just put the statements in this article into perspective: Somalia's problem right now is that there isnt a strong State with strong institutions. So all of those Criminals who otherwise would be in Prison are walking around, harassing and raping women and children. With the introduction of a Court System and a Prison System, these Criminals will be locked up and sentenced. Criminals exist in every society. The problem we have as Somalis is that our criminals are living amongst the general public instead of sitting in Prison.
  20. Carafaat;849601 wrote: It's definetly a good idea Somaliland to support Somalia security wise. Rather a Somali doing the job, then a Kenyan, Burundese or Amisom/Unosom. Come on dogg, just think about how silly this sounds. This will give Somaliland an excuse to legitimize their "independence" from the rest of Somalia in exchange for token assistance...the existence of this so-called Somaliland threatens the interests and aspirations of Maakhir and Khaatumo States.

The world is busy putting lawyers, inventors, strategists, engineers, politicians, academics, etc on a pedestal while we turn individuals- that don't even know what 2+2 is - into kings. SMH. Well the rationale here is that, these clan elders have the best interests of the country at heart, and are inclined to pick Politicians who would be best for the country. Now whether these clan elders are honest men or not, I don't know. I know at least some of them are dishonest. But it's not smart to make a judgement on men you don't know.

Mario B;848959 wrote: I'm in Libertarian, I believe that the government doesn't have do to everything for you [although I accept the need for socialism for the 30% of the population that misses out in a free market economy]. They could use this opportunity to collect money and form civil engineering companies that can pave the roads and walkways. You could also have landscapers and gardeners to beautify the place up, all these jobs created can come from the community. Mario, this has already been thought of. Private companies would be hired by local Somali businessmen to pave the roads and improve the infrastructure of the district, clean up the neighbourhood as well as help with landscaping.... HOWEVER, you would need some sort of licensing permit from the Government to be able to do this. And you think the Kenyan Government is willing to grant these permits to these private companies? Definitely no
  23. I remember when Al Shabaab (a few months ago) withdrew from parts of Central Somalia and began to move north to the mountains in Galgala, Puntland...I actually heard MANY Somalis celebrating. Even though these Somalis despise Al Shabaab, they actually celebrated when they heard that Al Shabaab was entering Puntland. Why? Well their logic was this: Al Shabaab has killed thousands of Somalis in the South for several years, beheading, torturing and generally making life intolerable for the population. "So now it's time for the people in Puntland to suffer the way we've suffered. We want their sons to have their hands chopped off, because it's happened to us also. Al Shabaab has made life in South Somalia difficult, so now we want you guys to experience this living hell as well" Extremely twisted way of thinking
  24. Garnaqsi;848719 wrote: Also because it gets one's priorities completely upside down, as I've said earlier. Talking about helping your country not only before you even get a degree but making that the reason for your choice of subject is so laughably naive and unrealistic, to say the least. Garnaqsi, well many of these fields are also profitable, intriguing, and could potentially help Africa if the situation calls for it. A degree such as Economics, or Engineering, or even graduating from Medical School makes you extremely versatile, capable of working in any country, and makes you stand out in a competitive job market. A job does become more fulfilling if you genuinely believe what you're doing is helping a cause you believe in, or a cause which interests you

However, I met MANY people in Somalia who were wild, who were violent and who were small-minded. Many Somalis were so small-minded that they were actually willing to inflict violence on their fellow Somali SIMPLY due to his Qabiil. Many of our politicians steal GOVERNMENT MONEY and buy houses and cars for their family members, and see nothing wrong with doing this. It's such a sad state of affairs. I know this sounds outrageous, but we definitely need to import thousands of psychologists into Somalia, to change the way people think. I can't think of any other solution
