In the long term Puntland security forces will be incorporated into the federal army. But for now you need to disarm all these factions there should only be the Somali national army and the Amisom support. This is a lot harder than many people realize. The clan wars of the 1990's have left many Somali clans insecure, and they believe that if they incorporate their men into the Somali Army, then they would be at the mercy of other clans which did not incorporate their men into the Somali Army, and still have a strong clan militia. Do you see what I'm getting at here? No one trusts each other, that's the problem. I don't think Ahmed Madoobe would voluntarily relinquish his power because he has no reason to trust other Somalis who have proven to be treacherous.

Xaaji Xunjuf;878359 wrote: Yeah aswj was allied to the government the same as raskambooni but you cannot have free lance militias freely roaming around the country, ASWJ is in galguduuud in gedo they are armed sufis. And i know it will be hard to disarm them but it must be done. We should start with disarming the civilian population in Mogadishu, and then gradually disarm cities like Kismayo and Beledweyne. Maybe political pressure is what we need to disarm ASWJ and RasKamboni and incorporate them into the Somali Army.
  3. Xaaji Xunjuf;878351 wrote: ASJW and raskaambooni and other various factions need to be dismantled and incorporated into the Somali army. Somalia needs strong federal troops with capable training and with the right equipment. Not clan armies all the federal states can have a strong police forces. First step should be integrating the Puntland Military into the Somali Army. They have the training and equipment and they know what they're doing. But I'm not saying they should be deployed to the South-Central regions, as Puntland is barely stable itself. They should focus on securing their corner of Somalia first.

Whatever happened between you and Idi Amin's neice is no one's business but yours
  5. Faafan;878316 wrote: The SNA has to be integrated because for now most of the foot-soldiers in the various regions all operate along clan lines, when the war is won a new force has to be built and the militias fronting as the SNA dismantled. I agree, and also the UN needs to lift their arms embargo on Somalia as the facts on the ground have changed drastically since the 1990's. It also would be a great idea if Somalia received Israel-style assistance from countries such as the United States or China. Billions of dollars worth of military equipment/training could go a long way in stabilizing our country. But integrating these various clan militias is gonna take a while...building a large Somali Army will take years but we're moving forward

Xaaji Xunjuf;877933 wrote: Carafaat made a good point Clan federalism in the long term will never work in Somalia states based on Qabil sometimes sub clans, Because the people of Somalia are not that so much different from each other if people had different religions languages and even looked different it would've made sense. Maybe Clan Federalism is a short-term solution, but long-term it will be scrapped for something better. I guess we're gonna have to wait and see.

  8. Carafaat;877845 wrote: And according to some Somali citizens Somalilanders are murqaam most of the time. what is your point? Look man, you're either part of the problem or part of the solution. Somaliland and Puntland were in a perfect opportunity to set an example to the rest of Somalis on how a "state" should be run. But instead, they're both crippled by petty clan politics. I don't know how long it will take for Somalis to change our mindset
  9. Carafaat;877831 wrote: Is Somalia a unified utopian State? No...according to certain Somaliland "citizens", Somalia is just a land of pirates and criminals.

  11. Chimera;877798 wrote: To paraphrase Mary Harper; Somalia was a failed 'state', not a failed 'country'. What your referring to is 'state-building', not 'nation-building', because we already have a single language, a single ethnic identity, and a single religion. Nothing about my 'expectation' is unrealistic, the infrastructure is in place and needs to upgraded. There is a vibrant private sector ready to invest. The schools only need to be 'reopened' and the attendancy rates will rocket. Cleaner hospitals and better care will see death-rates fall. A good taxation system will generate billions for the national budget. The distribution lines of the agricultural sector to the ports only need to be re-established and there will be a boom. Plenty of Somali shipping companies based in East Africa and Dubai that could lease or buy that many ships to give us a substantial merchant marine. FDI can be attracted by aggressive teams of Somali lobbyists speaking Mandarin and Arabic. The only thing that is needed to kick-start all of this is stability I understand that the Somali people have the same ethnicity, language, culture, and religion.....but yet we still don't see each other as one people. A classic example is the numerous clan militias which are springing up in the "Jubbaland" region. If they were sincere in working towards a stable Somalia....why won't they incorporate their soldiers into the Somali National Army.... I will elaborate more on this in a few days my friend.

Statistics = knowledge = power . If they manage to achieve the above, then they deserve another term, and that's when the exciting stuff really begins. Don't you think this is a little unrealistic? Nation building takes decades my friend. Somalia is in serious need of it.
  13. There doesn't exist anything close to a manufacturing base in Africa. The main reason why countries like Botswana and Angola have grown so quickly is because of the high price of diamonds and oil. That's it. We've got a long way to go

And it's funny cause the Somali's seem extremely indifferent to Ajnaabis. It's like we forget they exist and we associate only with one another. Very strange
  16. Reer Hebel and Reer Hebel can't form a state. Really....Somalis really need to stop thinking of ourselves as Qabiils and move on. How is it that Somalis haven't learned after 21 years of warfare that claiming lands based on your lineage is harmful to the functioning of a modern society? Before you know it, Somalis within Puntland will disagree and decide to form their own states, and before you know it, small cities like Garowe will be "Federal State of Hebel" and Calula will be "Federal State of Hebel" Somalia will have like 10000 federal states, this is ridiculous. We still haven't learned
  17. I don't see Sheikh Sharif too often without his Kufi! Man! He has a SERIOUS bidaar
  18. There's 1 of 2 options here 1. Somalia be a nation filled with nothing but little tuulos, but with a patriotic and united population. 2. Somalia be a nation of cities, but with the population divided and mistrustful of one another. By Allah, I would rather the 1st option. Unity is the hard part. Everything else comes easy Before we start constructing pretty buildings, maybe we should focus on ACTUAL Nation-Building. The rot in Somalia is so deep that it will take years--if not decades-- to clean out. Please don't misconstrue this as an attack friend.

How do you link that with being a qabiliste or didn't you even listen to her message. Unless Alshabaab and the Pirates and those that hate to be civilized are all from the sama qabil? Do the Italians who live in Northern Italy insult the Southern Italians by calling them all "criminals" and "Mafia Members"?? After all, the Mafia DID originate in the south of Italy..... She called ALL of us terrorists....All of us. Except her own sub-clan of course Qabiilism is the disease that destroyed our nation, and honestly Edna Adan isn't making the situation any better. She should just stop talking

Prophet Muhammad taught us to love our neighbors no one can deny Ednas Somalilandish origin or her Somaliland nationality or that she is a patriot that loves her people and country. There are some traditional differences between Somalilanders and the Koonfurians they way we treat our elders is one of them, But these are minor differences as for jacpher Somalilanders are not people who hide their feelings what makes you think they hide things ofcourse there are hardliners ultra rightwing nationalist who do not want anything to do with Somalia who if it was up to them they would construct a big wall between Somaliland and Somalia. But keep in mind the vast majority of the Somalilanders are loving and welcoming people they will tell you how they feel about you and will never hide their feelings. They will express themselves in the way they want the vast majority of the Somalilanders want to have closer relations with Somalia closer than they have with Djibouti or Ethiopia or any neighboring country of Somaliland. So there are no feelings hidden behind close doors everything is out there loud and clear. This woman views Somaliland as a clan entity sxb. She is a Qabiilist Remember what she said regarding Mo Farah. She stated that Somalis have no right to celebrate Mo Farah's success since Mo Farah is an I-Block member, and thus a citizen of Somaliland, despite the fact that he was born in Mogadishu. She actually had the nerve to bring Qabiil into something as innocent as millions of Somalis celebrating Mo Farah's win. If Somaliland truly wants to go their own way and have nothing to do with Somalia, then that's fine by me. But this hatred and animosity doesn't serve any purpose. Somalilanders are just like Somalis, they're more concerned with their day-to-day struggle then this silly politics
  22. Jacpher;875113 wrote: Adna tells the world to stop working towards peace in Somalia because the people of Somalia don't want peace? Wow. Between Adna & Waraabe, I'm not sure if Somalia wants Somaliland back. This women is really hateful, disgusting and very sick, sick to the core. No wonder the comments are disabled in that clip. She said what many landers say behind closed doors I guess. She's speaking as if the she's entitled to force the world to abandon Somalia and recognize her clan entity. Unfortunately, what you wrote in the underline may be true. How can Somalia be re-unified if the people still have hatred towards one another?
  23. Xaaji Xunjuf;874862 wrote: I know but that's politics , she than speaking as a politician and it can sometimes come over as very coarse. Not as Edna the woman that takes care of the sick in her hospital or the edna who opens clinics and betters the health situation of Somali Woman. When she degrades her fellow Somalis in front of foreigners, then she's a lunatic woman. No self-respecting Somali would ever call Somalis "a bunch of terrorists and pirates" in front of a group of European journalists. In the eyes of Westerners, all Somalis are the same, regardless of Qabiil or whether they're from "Somaliland" or "Somalia". Do you ever hear of the Swiss President calling Germans "terrorists" and "murderers"? ...Do you hear of the Japanese call Koreans "losers" and "lowlifes". Not even the Ethiopian Politicians insult us like this. She's a disgrace and a woman with a tarnished reputation. I used to have immense respect for her, but since I'm from Somalia and therefore a "terrorist", I no longer care for her
