  1. SOMALIA: Preparations for relocation to Mogadishu on track, say officials NAIROBI, 14 Feb 2005 (IRIN) - The interim Somali government, based in Nairobi, Kenya, is continuing its plans to start relocating to Somalia on 21 February despite the killing of a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) journalist in Mogadishu last week, the prime minister's office said. "The plan to relocate the government to Somalia is still on track," Abdurrahman Ali "Malaysia", the special adviser to the prime minister, Ali Mohammed Gedi, told IRIN on Monday. The first group of cabinet ministers that is expected to leave for the Somali capital, Mogadishu, will be led by the deputy prime minister, Hussein Aydid. The "prime minister will definitely be in Mogadishu within the next five days", Ali said. "The PM [prime minister] was horrified by the killing of [Kate] Peyton and has condemned the killing," Ali added. Ali quoted Gedi as saying: "If those responsible were expecting to scare us, then they are mistaken. We will not be deterred. We will return to Mogadishu." If all goes according to plan, "most of the cabinet and government should be in Mogadishu by 10 March", he added. Peyton, 39, was shot on Wednesday in front of her hotel as she got into a car. She was rushed to a local hospital and died there later, a local journalist who was at the scene at the time, told IRIN last Thursday. "I don't want to speculate about who killed Kate Peyton, but there are certainly groups who have an interest in painting Mogadishu as a dangerous and unstable city," Matt Bryden, the director of the International Crisis Group's Horn of Africa Project, told IRIN at the time. No one has so far claimed responsibility for Peyton's death and the motive is yet unknown. The latest killing was preceded by the killings of four senior Somali police and/or military officers since September 2004 by unidentified gunmen. All the Somali victims have, at one time or another, called for the deployment of peacekeepers to Somalia and had served under the transitional national government, according to local sources. The new government, which includes several faction leaders, has been unable to relocate, citing security considerations. However, it has come under increasing pressure from the Kenyan government and western diplomats to relocate. The transitional federal parliament elected Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed as president on 10 October. The election marked the culmination of a two-year reconciliation conference sponsored by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development that brought representatives from various clans and factions together. Military experts from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) were expected in Mogadishu on Monday to assess the situation ahead of the proposed deployment of a peace support mission to the war-torn country. IGAD, whose members are Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda, sponsored two years of peace talks between various Somali clans and factions that culminated in the formation of the transitional government. On the sidelines of the recently concluded African Union summit in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, the IGAD heads of state, who met under the chairmanship of the Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, committed to send a peace support mission to Somalia to assist the peaceful establishment of the transitional government in Mogadishu.
  2. Suudi’s argument is nonsensical. The underling reality on the ground in regard to the militia disarmament efforts need a neutral party to whom all the weaponry can be entrusted. This point was correctly articulated by the president C.Y. when he said on the BBC Somali service on the last Eid occasion that no armed Somali sectarian faction is willing to hand their weapons over to other Somalis and that his government can not be a guest to an armed militia. Suudi is filling the airwaves with throw ups. The most laughable one is his guarantee that his ministership can secure the peace in Mogadishu once the government moves in. Forget the last 15 years he had a chance to stop the killing, the rape, the hostage taking, the illicit milking of the poor and the unarmed and all other unspeakable crimes that a psychologically dented mind can think of. Forget all these. Why he simply can not flex his muscles, if he has any, and rescue Mogadishu International Airport from the mafia that has been occupying it for more than 10 years?
  3. Xuddaydi on BBC R3, please love Somali unity as he does Wisdom from serene mind, from musical tranquility…and from the love of Somali unity expressed in his sad songs, a glimpse of them you can hear from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/world/onyourstreet/ram/woyshudeydi3.ram

  6. It would be shame of all shames to Africa and in particular to the Somali people if the sovereignty of the Somali Republic remains hostage to few individualist criminals. The new Somali government must realize the magnitude of the power bestowed upon them. They must crush and eliminate all the criminal elements including the drum beaters of the secessionists and the inciters of the never ending sectarian wars. Nothing must stand in the way of the revival of the Somali Republic. Ka naxow nafta waa……
  7. I do not see his signature at the bottom of it. We need a photographic copy of it with the original signature.
  8. My Somali brothers and sister, a while ago I claimed my Hargeysaawi and Burcaawi have high I.Q. than the rest of Somalia but have a wounded self confidence. If this insecurity is repaired we have a better chance to take the leadership of Somalia because we are the life support system of Somali nationalism. If you have any doubt about this claim, look at how our members of the Somali Federal Parliament putting national interests forefront. 9. Whatever gives us a governmental framework and preserves the unity of Somali is a step forward. What other options do we have? BTW, most delegates in Nairobi have been enduring innumerable hardships and insults while volunteering their time for more than 2 years. They don’t live with their wives and children. On the other hand most Somalis who have access to the internet gobble up ice creams in the Western World and are looking forward to return back to a democratic efficient Somalia that has a 12-Cabinet government and strong security forces …… The members of Somali government deserve our respect. If you can do, go and change the march of history….. Otherwise shut up and salute your masters. We need Somalia to come back by hook or by crook.

  11. Give him few extra days. He’ll soon wake up from this horrible hypnosis and re-embrace Qansax in Soomaalinimo fashion.
  12. Add this name in gold ink to the forever Somali living names: Axmed Maxamed Aadan (Qaybe) c/o Hargeisa, the second capital of the Somali Federal Republic. YAA SALAAM..... Somalia must come back with different vision to reach her national aspiration. She must cease being a laughing stock and ridicule to the whole world.
  13. BBC Somali Service News Editor somali@bbc.co.uk This is a major news development which gives more catalytic grease to the Somali chaotic political scene. 14. but at least he has one that he shares with me and that is the unity of Somalia. SOO MAAL, That is the legacy we inherited from our forefathers. It was the wishes and the dreams of the masses that gathered in Beerta Xoriyada on 26th of June 1960. As well, we’re the originators of the Somaliweyn concept. An inventor never abandons the invention of a good product whatever obstacles he meets but tries to go to the extremes to perfect it in every possible way no matter the years he toils. Only traitors and opportunists in positions of power, power being the power of bullet, disregard the national ambition of this great nation of Somalia. Riyale’s seclusion policy has no merit and is smoke screen to riches and ephemeral power. It has not been working and it will never work. Do not get surprised if you come across here on SOL Riyale’s drum beaters accusing you that you are a phony if you are from the northwest (Hargeysaawli/Burcaawi) and believer in Somali unity. Take care and stay Somali forever.

  16. Read it and make your own conclusion. Mr. Pentagon, a new Somali governemnt is born. Talk to her. The manaager's name is Mudane Ali Muhammad Gedi. http://www.hiiraan.org/2004/dec/somali_news1228.htm
  17. ^^^^^^Madaa dhagax maalla? Relax. Anyone can bring recondite objections to any discourse. One thing is for sure: Somalia is back. Like it or not.
  18. SOO MAAL, Welcome aboard. It feels good to know that I am not the only Hargeysaawi/Burcaawi on SOL who is out of the closet federalist nationalist.
  19. ^^^^^I might have missed it; but I can not recalled any Somali website or any other one for that matter, reporting that the Libyan and Egyptian head of states are part and parcel of delegates expected to meet in Khartoum to give extra steam and vigor to this new Somali Transitional Government. Were they scheduled for arrival in the first place? Wixii uurka kuugu jira afkaa kaa xada! Any ways, keep it, always, in mind, the peoples of Egypt and Libya are always in the front row to stand behind a united Somali Republic and will leave no stone unturned in the international forums to see the territorial integrity of Somalia unscratched. After 14 years of civil war with unspeakable suffering and lawlessness and after the failure of numerous initiatives to come up with an effective nationwide administration, this new government formed in Nairobi, is the best thing that has happened to the Somali people since then. Someone may argue that it has some legal holes and influences of foreign factors, never the less it is a good beginning and each of us must give it at least moral support if not more. Fix it later. Remember it is the Somali Republic that is at stake.
  20. Nationalist, I can only speak in political riddles. s=c+bp+/-a 0<=s<=1, -1<=b<=1, 0<=pf<=0.5 s=commitment to the restoration of the Somali Republic and the active search of the unity of all Somali people. A score of less than 0.5 will put you in prison in the best scenario or worst s=0 you will be publicly executed. If your s=1, you are a national hero. Of the living Somalis, Adan Abdulle Osman is the only one whose s=1. c=constant, by birth you are given 0.5. b.beta.= the tolerance of the Somali people. Now, it is high due to the current conditions we are in and temporarily forgives the past or present mischievous behaviors. I assume it is around 0.95. Just get the governmental institutions functioning again! p= your actions in public forums. Waxa kuu qarsoon Eebe og; maalin bay soo bixi doonaa, laakiin waxa laga yaabaa b du in ay noqoto mid ka yar eber!!! a=adjustment factor. As a I long time follower of the Somali political discourse since the civil war commenced, these are my p's for the warlords: Yey= 0.30, he built a semblance of provincial government in northeastern regions and he kept Somali flag intact. Qanyare= 0.25, he supported both TNGs without seeking Cabinet position. Caato=0.15, supports the current TNG without conditions. Suud= 0.05, he never said in public he will support the current TNG if he is not given his lion share. X. Caydiid=0.05, same as Suud. Dheer=0.10, same as Suud but he has built a semi municipal authority in Jowhar. Riyale=0, he tries to dismantle the unity of Somali people. In my dictionary he is a traitor. When the beta switches to the negative territories he is in trouble with Somali people big time.
  21. Sax, the second round will not disappoint the Somali masses, insha Allah, but let it disappoint the cockroaches that come out of the dark whenever their irrational thinking puts them in daydreaming cozy environment in which they fanaticize the demise of the Somali Republic is reachable and the recognition of the phantom state is inevitable. Quraanjoow naa ku quuso. For any cost Somalia has to come back.
  22. ^^^^Adeer, apology and accountability will come later. Let our focus be to lunch this government off the ground and rebuild the Somali Republic and create a forum of no fear and intimidation through which truth and reconciliation can be conducted.
  23. Cusmaan Caato in an unambiguous manner has assured the whole world that he is giving his undivided support to the Pro. Geed’s government without string attached to it i.e. even if he is excluded from the council of ministries and forced to remain as a non-influential backbencher. He is following the footsteps of his warlord buddy Qanyare Afar who in many occasions promised the Somali people that he will do every thing in his power to reinstitute a functioning Somali Republic without preconditions. I think Prime Minister Pro. Geed can and should smartly turn negativity and rejection into consensus and workable formula for all to file behind him. On the record, listen to Cusmaan Caato, a reborn Somali nationalist, on Hiiraan Online: http://www.saalamiin.com/Audio/caato.ram
  24. ^^^ If Siyad Bare comes out of the grave and wraps himself up with Somali flag, he is my hero. We will see how your HEATHY SUPER GENIUS Einsteinic mind will bring recognition to us. Just keep in mind I, a true son of Hargeisa, am not part of the “Queen Victoria is our grandma†syndrome. My genetic makeup is Somali and Somali only, PERIOD.
