  1. ^^ I think he is just pulling your leg. Time will tell. The Arabs and the muslims are playing the patient game. Building up enough arsenal and logistical expertise to 'do sumfink'. Do they (we) have the bottle is the question? Its easy for a Palestinian to go to war because he has nothing left but will a rich Kuwait, Saudi, UAE go to war and risk losing all that black gold???????
  2. Many people in Somalia go to the cinema to watch the same movies as those in Cinemas in London, Toronto and New York. Does watching the average movie with the usual man & woman scenario viewed as the 'love interest' mean i would be guilty of watching a porn flick? I have some reservations about this issue
  3. Are you sure? Walee xabad subaaxadaan ku diibi
  4. What is the definition of porn in Somalia?
  5. Have your say BBC The problem with young Somalis in the U.K can best be explained by the information assymetry that exists in most Somali households. Somali parents are not only illiterate but also confined. Their children on the other hand go to school and mix with others. So what emerges is an independent child and dependent parents. So you have to ask how can parents raise their children in such circumstances. The answer is they can't and that is why young Somalis are involved in gangs and drugs in the UK As the matter of fact, it should've been the other way round, that the older gen from the Somali community rather than the young to feel alienated and unable to adjust with the British way of life. By and large the obvious under achievement at schools by the Somali youth which pushes them towards the wrong end of the society, is primarily as a result of family breakdown, experieced by many and the root causes of this being 'Qat'. Not surprisingly the severe alienations and mental health issues. Do you somalians who reside in the United Kingdon still learn and are being taught what tribes you are, what tribes are good bad etc and is this made a very important part in your somalian identity? remembering that its tribalism that caused your parents to flee their country in the first place do they believe against this idea or encourage you to accept it? and what do you personally believe
  6. "At least its for charity" is a common saying by folks who organise such things. Anything to justify the absurd The land of 'immoral morality' ey
  7. lol End july will keep this place lively with some sort of anticipation. But the August one will involve a little more than just posting a pic Get your creative minds into gear.
  8. Caano Geel I'm not sure exactly what your getting at saxib. Are you talking of the hijaab? Dress code etc? Making it compulsory? The wider Sharica Laws?
  9. Arabism? Everyday i'm coming across a new word  Has it become cool to criticise our faith? Have the criticisers' minds become clouded by westernisation? Let the games begin.
  10. ^^A Londoner with a garden? cool  I suppose until the end of this month will be ok with a rematch in August, besides patience is not an SOL trate by the looks of things
  11. Times are getting tense. Things have been brewing for a number of years. It is only a matter of time.
  12. Well the closing date is 31st August 2006. I was planning to conduct a poll by listing everyones names. Then you will have a top 10,,,,i think Amelia, no bribery. This is not Italian football
  13. I saw the documentary on BBC World the other day. Amazing how the orthodox christians blocked the mosque many times. What do they fear? In the run-up to the Olympics, and under pressure to portray Greece as internationalist and conciliatory, the then socialist government chose a site for a Saudi-sponsored mosque and Islamic centre east of Athens to be visible from the international airport. That provoked demonstrations by nearby residents of the staunchly conservative town of Peannia. Today there's a small Greek Orthodox chapel on site, built to commemorate the protests which thwarted the mosque proposal. On special occasions a bell is rung, and on the hilltop a cross now defiantly looks towards the airport. "We are Orthodox Christians here," says Angelo Kouias, a Peannia resident, involved in the protests. "We believe that when you arrive at the frontier of Greece it would be better to see a church to symbolise our country rather than a mosque." Alxamdullilah for the Muslims in Athens. There is a small Somali community there also.
  14. ^^ we are still waiting for yours madam
  15. "I think — tide turning — see, as I remember — I was raised in the desert, but tides kind of — it's easy to see a tide turn — did I say those words?" —George W. Bush, asked if the tide was turning in Iraq, Washington, D.C., June 14, 2006 "You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you're gone." —George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 5, 2006 "That's George Washington, the first president, of course. The interesting thing about him is that I read three — three or four books about him last year. Isn't that interesting?" —George W. Bush, while showing German newspaper reporter Kai Diekmann the Oval Office, Washington, D.C., May 5, 2006 "No question that the enemy has tried to spread sectarian violence. They use violence as a tool to do that." —George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 22, 2006 "If the Iranians were to have a nuclear weapon they could proliferate." —George W. Bush, Washington D.C., March 21, 2006 Bushisms
  16. ^^i rememeber the headlines in the UK when Bush was re-elected - "How can so many people be so dumb?" was the best.
  17. ^^I wouldnt go as far as they didnt know where i was from but more what being Somali represents. Being a muslim was obvious enough. At work i would be amongst many races but away from work it would be only Somalis, hence my double life compared to those i worked with who would even meet-up on the weekend and watch the Rugby or play golf.

  20. Picture taken: Ramadan 1426 Where: Muscat Oman This photo represents a new start, a new life after umpteen years in the UK. I think this photo best captures the peace of mind one gets living here. It’s a great view as well.
  21. Israel is contravening Article 4 of Geneva convention which outlaws collective punishment towards whole populations by bombing civilian infrastructure and decimating hospitals, power stations, roads, airports etc...
  22. Keeping the ME unstable has been an objective of the west whilst promising 'road maps' for peace at the same time. Isreal has gotten tired of the west in its failure to put an end to the situation even though it probably had something to do with it. With strong organisations in the US and Britain, the Zionists feel untouchable right now hence their brutal actions and no discussions or prisoner exchanges. The current PM, Ehud Olmert, is determined to 'end it' as soon as possible. End any possible attacks from the West Bank and Gaza together with ending Hezbollah and any outside interference in their scheme. This coupled with promises of setting Isreal's 'permanent' borders (which was one of the reasons why he came into office), one can only feel that the situation is very serious. With 101 other parties interested and meddling in the affairs of the region, its is anyone's guess what might occur over the next couple of years. One can only pray for the people affected by all of this. People who have known nothing but war and suffering since day one. May Allah make it easy for them, ameen.
  23. ^^stop being tight and buy the book
  24. I can make few comments on your last paragraph but i dont want to until there others who have read the book.
  25. I could basically write an entire book detailing how the Barre regime lead a campaign eradicating Islam from Somali life. The evidence is that damning. It's not even on a 'did he/or did he not' level. I'm suprised that you, an obviously astute observer of the Somali political scene, would dispute that. I 2nd that.
