  1. Thanks Abdi, Stoic and Uchi. Uchi where is that picture taken? Stioc, a beautiful day and a very good setting for your graduation. Abdi, your first pic will have to be taken
  2. ^^so thats why you always go on about visiting the outback in Oz? Aboriginis are a people i have respect for due to their unfortunate recent history but their weddings i nothing about mate!
  3. Dont laugh On the plane the other day i wanted to check if it was dawn so i opened the window flap thing and to my astonishment the sun wasnt there but it was light. I looked across the other side of the plane and realised the sun was on that side (left side of plane). I broke into a cold sweat thinking the sun was rising in the west and it was Friday. Then i remebered i was in fact travelling south and not north  scary stuff
  4. Elvis Presley is a dissendant of Arabs who settled in Mexico?
  5. http://www.huda.tv/ This is the channel availabe here in the ME. It's in english and available on Nile/Arab Sat with some great programmes.
  6. http://www.islamchannel.co.uk/ Interesting channel i had the luxury of watching over the past month. A little too polictical for my liking but a great job non the less. They say its available world wide now so flick through your channels people.
  7. One woman overheard me once on my mobile and asked if I was speaking French. What an intelligent bunch you work with
  8. ^^I think an Eid version in Dubai would be good
  9. Amazing is the influence that israel has on the media worldwide. Not even one TV or a newspaper dared to show a picture about the little children who are dying in the south of lebanon and in beirut. The israeli are saying that they are targeting Hizbollah, meanwhile they are bombing families in their places or on the road while they are running to a safer place. I wonder who is the terrorist?
  10. When your country is occupying Iraq, under zero provocation, and that occupation has cost perhaps a hundred thousand Iraqi lives, where do you get off accusing the Israelis of being brutal, overreacting, international pariahs etc, for killing a hundred? That's still a hundred too many, and they may be making a big mistake, but at least they are actually defending themselves from daily rocket attacks. What's your excuse?
  11. I don't see how Isreal can attack Lebanese civilians. Hezbollah are not the Lebanese government. the Lebanese President has called for a cease fire. is this not the equivalent of Britain bombing Dublin during the Irish troubles or attacking American for funding and harboring Irish terrorists? Also, at first glance, it seems that the BBC are giving more coverage to Isreali casualties than Lebanese. BBC Have your say
  12. I was only occasionally asked about my origin whilst i was in the UK. But now nearly everyday i will say i'm soomaali at least 3-4 times a day. Usually after my arabic dries up during a conversation or to explain my sublime footy skills on the beach Then the inevitable 'but Somalis are arabs are they not' is asked. My answer is usually yes but,,,,,,,but at times i say no. I remember discussing this with a Kuwaiti who was very surprised ps dont expect much on Iraq war as its only briefly covered.
  13. Well i think As-Safiir As-Sakhar will provide us with the signs of the last day(s) and i'm sure there are many.
  14. LST is just trying to look important but he does have point  We want more pics people!

  16. lol@ 187 So you go to the Jame mosque in St Albans on Hatfield Road? I met Kolo there a number of times on fridays which made my boss (an arsenal season ticket holder jelous (spelling)). Nothing wrong with aborigini weddings mate but what are you on about? Is Cisse an aborigini?
  17. Some great pictures, keeps them comingand dont forget to share what the pic means to you. Valenteenah, i see work is in Wembley area, but why are you standing in the bikers lane when taking the pic? your lucky you didnt get hit, health and safety people! Amelia, a very good pic of Vauxhall Bridge (i think) but it also captures St Pauls, The Giant Gurkin, the Natwest building Shehehehe, very exotic and will take some beating, i think you have an unfair advantage due to more travelling I will post tomorrow IA as soon i manage to leave the beach  Wilo, where is that then? Stoic, where you at?
  18. The brother lives in Malaysia which means hes probably well educated and makes a decent living.
  19. I think the term 'left in limbo' is very convenient right now for Ina Yeey and his supporters. 'Unity' has gone from Ina Yeey and his BS govnt of killer warlords to 'i support a sheria state' then Somaliland is mentioned in the midst of it all to portray them as the enemy  carry on this is entertainment to say the least
  20. Since we have become photographers over recent months I thought why not have an SOL competition for the best photo of the year (at least half year anyway). Throughtout the yer I have seen photos from Somalia, Somaliland, Oman, UAE, France, India, Iceland and probably others I cant remember at this moment in time. So come on, trawl through what you have on your PC and cameras and post the one picture that means more to you than the others. Explain the significance of that one picture, where it was taken and why you took it. The winner will be voted for by the SOL members at the end of closing date for photo submissions. If there are too many photos then an elimination system will be devised. Rules Each to submit one photo of his/her taking Closing date for entries is 31st August 2006 If more than one photo is submitted then the second photo will be disregarded Enjoy!
  21. I heard of sharks roaming the Somali water but now i have proof  Some great pics
  22. ^^Just left blighty (couldnt stand the place) bought the book at Heathrow and got straight into it much to the annoyance of the passenger next to me when i kept the light on during the flight The title of the book, only half of me which he goes into at the start of the book is so true. Its like we live double lives. When at work and when out of work we lead different lives. I hardly ever discussed my ethnicity with people at work and i certainly didnt lead their lifestyle to discuss on a monday morning. Are Somalis double agents?
  23. Very bad for the sport and for Juve in particular. They will be back in say 5-6 years time to be the mother Italian football again. Now it get interesting. The following Juve players just won the world cup * Fabio Cannavaro * Buffon * Cammoranesi * Zambrotta (Man Utd target?) Not to mention Viera and Thuram who play for France. Who will they be playing for next year?
  24. ^^I remember picking up a leaflet at the recent IslamExpo in London. There was a muslim travel agency who specialise in tours to Andelucia/Granada/Valencia. Cant find the leaflet now
