  5. But i did like Obamas response He said: "I think it's flattering that one of George Bush's allies on the other side of the world started attacking me the day after I announced. "I would also note that we have close to 140,000 troops on the ground now, and my understanding is Mr Howard has deployed 1,400, so if he is (ready) to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq." "Otherwise it's just a bunch of empty rhetoric," he added.
  6. "Islam neither requires one to be practising" To me this means its OK not to be practicing (maybe she didnt mean this). NG As for the practising parts, I think (and I’m guessing here) it might have something to do with the differences between those scholars that regard someone that does not practise as an apostate and those scholars that regard them as, simply, lapsed Muslims (the Queen is probably stretching that last point to suit her own ends). You may well be right their scouser (on good form for a Monday morning) but again i'm sure the scholars whos opinions she may be using do not think its OK not to be practicing.
  7. ^^Its an opportunity not to be missed by the media.
  8. Saxib, I cant say i've been exposed to one school more so than the other but then again I grew up in the KSA (very short), have cousins in their 3rd year at Medina and have a general soft spot for the place. I also have an uncle who is a Al Azhar graduate. That’s my ‘exposure’. Save the general Maliki/Hanbali differences, the more detailed differences between the two (who agrees with what and who doesn’t endorse what) I’m not entirely aware of. I can’t say I agree with a particular scholar(s) opinion because he is from the KSA or Egypt. I cant say I’ve been keeping tabs on scholarly opinions of late. Now I’m not aware of any scholars who have stated/endorsed that’s it OK to simply believe and not practice (i stand to be corrected) hence my earlier statement. I’m aware of differences in other subjects but not the 'practicing' of Islam. I know the shamis (she Filastini i think) tend to be more 'liberal' though.
  9. lol Yesterday they were talking of M Hassan and his wars against the Brits. Today they support the Ethio invasion. Thats just about sums it up!
  10. Are you saying to simply believe and not practice is ok?
  11. ^^Maybe, just maybe people do not approve of the Ethios on their land. But its just a maybe,,,,,,,,,

  13. If Iran is attacked who know whats going to happen? Iran Iraq Afganistan Syria Lubnaan Palestine Are all within easy reach in terms of influence to the Persians. UAE Oman Kuwait Bahrain KSA Qatar I think most of these countries if not all have american bases. The Iranians will not hesitate going for them (as they have already stated). A pandoras box indeed.
  14. Mortar attacks convulse Somali capital (AFP) 12 February 2007 MOGADISHU - Gunmen fired a barrage of rockets in several positions in the Somali capital, sparking artillery duels with government security forces, as guerilla-style attacks continued to intensify, witnesses said on Monday. An AFP journalist reported heavy shelling near Villa Somalia, the residence of President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, in the south of the capital, where artillery fire illuminated the night sky. Witnesses said gunmen fired grenades into Madina police station, triggering a gunbattle. “I saw gunmen attacking a police station. Then fighting started and one policemen was injured,” Osmail Mohamed, a resident told AFP. There were no immediate reports of more casualties in the Indian Ocean city as residents remained indoors fearful of getting caught by stray bullets. The attacks, which have steadily intensified since joint Somali-Ethiopian forces ousted as Islamist movement last month, were yet another sign of spiralling instability in the country. Dozens of people have been killed in the attacks, targeting positions held by the government and its allies. source
  15. I remember watching an England game. England won. We were all happy. England fans were celebrating on the streets and we did not look English. To cut a long story short, after a few bloody knuckles and alxamdullilah no harm onto us (you should have seen the other lot) I realised that this is not my country.
  16. I know you was refering to her. Which 'istan' is she refering to? Pakistanis mostly live in the middle and north of the country. Bengalis/Gujartis live in the East of the city and Indian sikhs/hindus live in the west. She works for the Daily Mail. Probably the most outspoken when it comes to asylum/immigration/religious issues. Would be an interesting read though,,,,
  17. Another case of i'm educated (not in Islam) so i can disagree with the scholars. Its everywhere.
  18. I use the term to annoy our nomads who reside there. Still havnt read the book which tries to portray London as a hotbed for 'Islamiofacism'. Any of our nomads read it?

Don't get me wrong i have not given up yet though not as enthusiastic about it. I have done 2x degrees in the feild of construction and have been practising for about four years. I feel i could do something of use, but will i ever get the chance. I am bothered with QABIIL but the lack of stability and lack of willingness. Miskin Which is your field if you dont mind me asking.
