  1. NGONGE" I can’t decide here weather you’re being stubborn and argumentative for the sake of arguing; or unaware of the history of that war; or, which is the worst of the three really, your moral judgment is flawed! My dear NGONGE, lol there are atleast three historical intepretations - Orthordox, Revisionist and post-Revisionist - which are used to explain and analyse the moral decision of dropping the atomic bombs on 'hiroshima and nagasaki'. As it seems, you've only used the typical 'orthodoxical approach to divulge the bombing of Japan. Yet, you've thought wise to disregard the lady's (supuu) comparison as flawed! Is her comparison really flawed? From the Trumanian' traditional view, her comparison is indeed flawed. However from the revisionist's point of view, she is not! This is because, unlike the traditionalist historians, the revisionists believe that the heroshima and nagasaki bombs were droped, not 'primarilly' to defeat Japanese 'aggression', but to deny the Soviets their influence on the pacific, which was the agreement. So the intention was not really war, but the creation of psychological american hegemony. And since that is the case, what difference does it make if one compares both Japan and London bombings? PS: This is a psychological tag of war. A different kind of war where many people's loyalty becomes misplaced. A moral game of manipulation. Who will fall for it? Maybe most of us will.
  2. I wonder if discusions such as this yield any benefits, since rigidly pre-tuned views are bound to remain as they were. Views are taken out of boxes, are compared, and then repacked, unchanged . Be sincere and willing to compromise your stances, nomads. That is, if the hours spent here, discussing matters like this were expected to become a good investment. W/Salaam
  3. There are already reports that Muslim males are getting arrested in some London areas, while some muslism women wearing xijaab have been targeted. I am not absolutely certain about this report, but I advice London nomads to be extra-vigilant and take a great deal of care. Avoid crowds off all kinds and make sure to not go out unless it is absolutetly necessary. Stay safe
  4. Nafti glad ur ok too. Use the landland fones to contact your family members, the mobile might not go through for you. Again, I hope everyone is well.
  5. dawoco have you gotten through to all family members?
  6. Lucky, I didn't keep my Uni appointment. My Uni is in Algate East right next to the tube which I frequently use. Blame it on over-sleeping...it is said there are 90 casualties in Algate. There are six explosions all over London...and reports on ITV say the deaths are 20 right now. Mind you the Mobile sytem is over-stretched, since everyone is calling their friends and family. I hope everyone is okey.
  7. ^^^ confused.com Sky, from confusion comes clarity. Now contemplate.
  8. Thanks for the correction. I mean can.
  9. Rahima, I haven't replied to your initial post and your last one too. I wasn't annoyed and will not be annoyed with you on matters such as these, since you show little knowledge of what 'nationalism' or other similar terms are made of. As I suggested to Haddad, start another topic and I will explain why I think you misunderstand the term nationalist or nationalism.
  10. Haddad, If you must know, the protection of national culture and interests are the classic functions of Political Realism. The functions of the 'state' (being the only legitimate actor or authority) must be concerned with the Three Ss - Statism, Survival and Self-help. But what you must realise is that we Somalis are today struggling with 'survival' and are lacking 'statism and self-help'. So we're far off from our 'national culture' being superior over others. The question of superiority is often a contegeous one, which many shabby wannabes use against anyone who loves his/her land, people and culture. Now Haddad, I don't wish to digress this topic any further, so if you wish to discuss this matter matter indepth, start another topic. Maybe in that topic we can delve into it at will.
  11. ^^^ You seem to know of other nationalisms quite well and yet you cannot imagine what Somali nationalism is! This is something that you (if you are at all a Somali) need to contemplate and realise on your own. Do not expect me to indoctrinate you with the meaning of Somali nationalism, as schools have done for you already on other matters. Don't wait for 'explanations' or to be shown what is what, just because schooling predisposed you to be such. If you can think, then I say exercise your brain to find out what things mean and are. Start with the ingredients of nationalism. What is involved? We have a land, people and culture..and so on. Think for Allah's sake..think!
  12. "Uncle Ted fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to pull him out, but he fought them off playfully and drowned. We had him cremated and he burned for three days." Looooooool no words come out...
  13. Lol What can I say? Thank you, for PC's sake...
  14. Nafisa thank you sister, you actually answered the question. I wish others who posted irrelevant comments in his topic would learn to do just that- give an answer to a question. Comments were not asked for in the topic, yet most here failed to see that. May God help them.

  17. ^^^ I have a degree in Political Science Haddad. I know what nationalism is or isn't. So give it a rest please. Get with the topic.
  18. MMA, then your old man is the guddoomiyhii baarlamaanka of that era? I am not sure about it. Was he sxb?
  19. Haddad, you are going on about nonsense and irrelevancy. Who asked you to give us 'what nationalism is or is like or what it isnt'? The questions of this topic are: who is a nationalist? Are you a nationalist, yes or no. You either say yes or no. If you can't asnwer it then please don't digress the topic. PS: Frankly speaking, any comment that goes beyond answering the asked question is bollocks. If anyone has something else to discuss, let them open a topic that deals with what they wish to discuss. I really don't care to see anyone's debating or analytical/critical skills. Give us a break, will you, please? PPS: Once again I don't appreciate those have identity insecurity showing it in this topic. If you feel you are not proud of being Somali, tough luck. Sell yourself to any other nationality you wish to, but don't tell us 'somalis this, somalis that!'. For Allah's sake if you don't like something, avoid it!
  20. I can't believe it is the fourth time I'm celebrating Kowda Luulyo on here. ...And you should never get swayed for many years to come. Never give up. ....H'bday Somalia

  22. Thank you Politically-Inclined and SOOMAAL PS: STOIC, the questions are about nationalism, and not patriotism.
  23. I am dis-interested in shallow analysis of what is or isn't nationalism. I am interested in today's Somali nationalists. Are you a true nationalist? Yes or No? PS: Cut the crap
  24. Happy independence day again... The eve of the big day!
