Lately I am in to Maay Maay languate. its nice language wich you speak with a friendlier and softer tone. I think every Somali should learn it. And shouldnt it be teached at schools across all of Somalia? And there should be a Maay Maay news bulletin at Somali TV Stations.

 

If TV Djibouti can have tv programs in Arabic, Somali, Afari and Fench. then Somali Tv's could atleast add Maay Maay.

Soomaali national radio used to have Afmaay programs back in '60s. Dowladii kacaanka ayaa joojisay in the name of, allegedly, promoting national unity in one dialect. Telafashinka cusub ee qaranka ee Xamar kasoo baxo has some Afmaay programs now.

Both my parents speak fluent raxweyn, this is the language that is spoken in our household. I use to speak it much better, need to start picking up the pieces and start speaking it.

Maay is not a language sxb, it is just a dialect. I don't think it's hard to learn it, all you need to do is live in Baydhabo for couple of months.

I think Maay Maay is such a beautiful, under-rated and dying dialect. Growing up, all my neighbors and childhood friends spoke Maay Maay dialect which is why I am able to fully understand it.

Carafaat you are most all around Qawdhan or should I say Lander, mar hadii aad Afmaay faraha la gashay. I don't speak maay but I really think it's very sexy. Just watch Xasan Aadan Samatar iyo Liibaan singing Maay maay, What a beautiful Somali dialect.
