A Zionist is just a person who supports the jeweish peoples rigth to a homeland, you don't have to be a jew in order to be a Zionist. You asked why will they help us: Somalia has large reserves of proven oil and natural gas, these are important natural resources which Israel can not get from its Arab enemies, our country is located geographically so that isreali military bases can be built in Somalia and attack Iran or the Arab countries. You should always be 1 step ahead when working in the interests of Somalia.

I know what a zionist is sxb and it is exactly because I know what it is that I do not support, nor warm to the support of it. The thing is, a zionist doesn't just "support the jeweish peoples rigth to a homeland"; in the essence, a zionist supports something far less benevolent. What I do support, however, is the Palestinian peoples right to a homeland; one need not be a palestinian to support their right not to have their homeland taken away from them.

There are plenty of non-Arab countries with "large reserves of proven oil and natural gas" -of these countries, and that is if Somalia is counted amoungst them, Somalia is probably the least able and likely to benefit from such resources. Where you go wrong in your little 'plan', is to try and do the thinking and planning for the Israelis. The thing is, Israel has already ensured that it and its allies have large military bases in many places [israel, Djibouti, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq], including Arab countries, from where it could attack any middle-eastern country should the need arise; again Somalia is probably the least able and likely to benefit from this. Perhaps your 'thinking 1 step ahead' is many decades, too little too late.

Israel indeed is a fine case study for development. Excellent thread.

It has been hard work but the political support of the US made it all happen, not so much the financial support. They worked from the bottom up, obviously with 3 billion dollars since 1985.

But they started with aid from the US covering only basic food, medicine and the stuff they owned in Germany as repatriation.

Other regions Somalia should look at includes Kurdistan and Oman. However it is important that we rediversify our potential natural resources and make the economy sustainable, we can't be dependant on income from oil and minerals. Ethiopia is not and so isn't Kenya but we can outpace them in no time.

- Focus on agriculture in the south - Somalia all together is very arable but the south has rivers so it has most potential, including some central regions of Somalia.

- Small sea ports along the longest coast of Africa connecting to Somali Galbeed and inner cities of Somalia. The funding for these should be from the mineral and oil income.

The ports are small and for the fishing community. Arab states are setting up these ones all along their coasts.

They are not large and worth the money, will not be more than a few million a piece Galmudug State of Somalia representatives which have been lobbying the German government and it has been kindly and looked at proposals.

- Fishing industry could be thriving with regulation and a basic navy for protection.

A visiting Somali delegation tabled a request for
two search-and-rescue ships and six coast guard boat
s, worth some 250 million euros, during talks at the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, or SSM, in Ankara last Friday, a senior SSM official told the Hürriyet Daily News.

The Somalis requested that Turkey provide the vessels either as a donation or as part of a
barter deal with an offer for future opportunities in Somalia’s fishing sector
, the SSM official said.

- Livestock expansion, we should be looking to New Zealand. - The industry is worth $2.7 billion when only counting beef and lamb.

One blessing we have had of this civil war is that the Somali diaspora is more educated than ever and they will be the future of the region.

Most of these things can be worked on instantly when peace prevails.

Israel is not a good model for any country, its not even a country that started from rubles to skyscrapers. They were affluent group of people brought from different parts of the world, well prepared and supported by the west. The have always been and will always be the shadow of America and the west.

If you need an economical or developmental model look at China. 30 years ago China had the same GDP as Kenya and today they are the economic power house of the world, the envy of America and the lenders of the rich west. Why shouldn't you point out at Malaysia in which within a decade of Mohamed Mahatir's rule the country transformed itself from being one of the poorest in the world to a rich state.

Why also ignore and not highlight the model you may get from some African successes, today despite all odds and unfair trading rules imposed by the west Ghana leads as the fastest growing economy in the world as of this moment.

The Israelis are good at one thing - Lobbying and corrupting politicians, lies and creating fabricated stories using media, business and only profit making through usury and manipulations - If that's a model you see fit for Somalia then by all means.

Somalia

But lobbying is exactly what we should do. Israel has just had the right friends and it got the right friends through lobbying and spending money the right way.

Just like Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf countries have been doing. Some countries benefit from support in the beginning and we should take all means in finding support in the West. Arabs have not been our best friends so I would rather look West for support.

Agriculture export is worth around 4 billion in Israel, a land that is only 20% arable, they meet domestic requirements and they export, of course they have supplements in some areas.. They use a method known as drip irrigation.

Banana irrigation - India

I would like to start by saying that I support and admirer the Israeli nation, I am proud to call myself a Somali Zionist.

Of course, Israel is a great development model for Somalia, just in 60 years Jews developed their country from a poor backward desert into an, economic, political, technological, military, political, superpower which is self-sufficient. The somali people can also achieve the same as the jews if they are, nationalistic, unite, have visionary politicians, put their country's interests above everything in life,Somalis abroad to use their influence in the countries they live in to help Somalia's national interests, Israel can help Somalia develop our farm areas in the southern somalia to an agricultural paradise, Israel can help Somalia to build a strong military and share their knowledge in all areas with the Somali people, long live Somalia and Israel.

I'm speechless.
