Mogadisho International Airport open for business

Recommended Posts

SOO MAAL

Great news,

Courts are doing good job by opening the International airport/port, improving Mogadishu’s security etc

The fact that Mogadishu is united for the first time in 16 years is a remarkable breakthrough. Courts deserve a credit for their excellent work

Although, the executive leader of courts sheikh shariif Ahmed is honest man, however, MMA, your concern of warlord indhacadde’s awful involvement in courts is fair. I believe indhacadde is more of liability for the courts

Soomaal, Indhamadoowe is gacanta midig of maxkamadaha ku sheega. Without him and his little cousins of Cirfo, Goobaale, Dhuxuloow, Seeraar -- they just wouldn't have reached where they are now. Ma kala haraan. I don't know why dadka u kala bixiyaan, as though they are separate.

Indhamadoowe is the so-called courts, they themselves made it official by appointing him at one of the top posts, though he declined publically, but behind the scenes asagaa maamulo wax badan.

They can go all the way to Jalalaqsi, pressuring the locals there to support them, but, yeah, waala iska indhatiraa to liberate the occupied Afgooye oo Xamar afka u saaran, iskaba dhaaf Marka, Baraawe iyo Kismaayo.

Indhamadoowe is the power, the force behind it, and he, eventually, will be the one who disintegrates it hadee afaarahiis soo faragishtaan.

Only a todobaadyo ago, sawirkaan ayaa laga soo qaaday.

U.N. officials assessed security conditions in the Somali capital on Monday and met leaders of the Islamic group that has seized control of Mogadishu, the first formal contact between the two sides since the militants' dramatic rise to power in the city. The two-member U.N. security team visited Mogadishu's airport and sea port during a preliminary assessment of conditions at the facilities likely to be used by aid agencies that are considering stepping up humanitarian operations there. MMA,

Everyone is familiar with warlord Indhacadde’s past, his harsh rule over shabelle, his public claim over the ownership of the Pasta factory and the farms in Shebelle, as a result indhacadde will only discredit and damage reputation of the courts

Most Somali and the world will assume that the popular movement of the people of Mogadishu that led to free Mogadishu from the various secular warlords is hijacked by another ruthless warlord

I believe only new, honest and youthful individuals with no background history in Somali political arena like Sheikh Shariif Ahmed can bring a positive change

My advice to courts is to distance them selves from Indhacadde, and to force him to resign if he holds any position within the leadership of the courts, to save the credibility of the new movement

Its for the benefit of the courts, if shariif publicly denounce warlord indhacadde and his actions in shabelle, shariif should request indhacadde to hand over the pasta factory and farms in shabelle

Mogadishu’s International seaport reopens for the first time after 11 years

By: Aweys Osman Yusuf

Mogadishu 23, August. 06 ( Sh.M.Network) Mogadishu’s International l seaport has officially been opened for the first time after so eleven years of closure.

Union of Islamic Courts second assistant chief Sheik Abdulkadir Ali Omar, accompanied by the Isklamist finance manager Abdulkadir Abokar Omar Addan and marine transport manager Sh. Mohammed Kahiye, stated that Mogadishu’s main port is formally open.

Mogadishu’s main port has been shut down since UNOSOM, the UN & US forces, departed from Somalia in 1995 after failure of forming an administration.

Omar Afdoje, an Islamist engineer, made an estimation of one million dollars that, he said, would cost rebuilding the vastly devastated port.

A big celebration for the opening of the seaport is anticipated on Thursday.

Many Mogadishu residents endorsed the opening of the port, while many said they had been waiting for the news for a long time.

Elma’am, an informal seaport, in north Mogadishu has been the only port business people have been importing their commodities.

Reliable sources close to the Islmaists says that the newly opened port would be the only one that Somali business people might legitimately use. This may mean that Elma’an seaport will be out of use.

After UNOSOM many attempts of putting the port into use had failed after Mogadishu’s once most powerful tribal warlords could not compromise over the revenue and which ship was to be taxed of the seaport.

It is hoped that the port would alleviate the inflation of all commodities in Mogadishu.
