Athiests are too arrogant & passionate about their beliefs to lie about it. His motivation was power, and if that meant fake praying to jesus to please some donors in washington, so be it. He probably convinced himself it was for the greater good.

 

A leader is a product of his environment. Today certain somali leaders have kidnapped and handed over Muslims to non-muslims for power. Invite non muslim armies to occupy their land for power. These are among some of the acts of Riddah going on today under your nose. What he did is a shame, if true, but at least Siad Barre can say, 'I was just paying lip service'.
