Completely unnecessary theatrics. He should be fired ASAP. He will then have plenty of opportunity to make all his prayers on time.
Do u even pray? Or do u even comprehend how salat is the difference between muslims and non muslims?

For those of u who keep saying he should've changed his shift to make sure it doesn't collide on a prayer time how do u know if the brother's shift was supposed to end before the prayer and maybe he got stuck on rush hour or something?

It takes lots and lots of iman to do something like this. It is very big deal ilaahay xagiisa to skip a salat on purpose!

Agree with Castro, he should be sacked to give him the above mentioned opportunities.

Why not some advise and provide him some accommodation?

In the seerah, there were many times the sahaba/companions, interpreted something literally and did it, out of sincere belief and taqwa. The Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) didn't scold them for their sincerity and naivety but rather gave them advise.

Inshallah, the brother will get the barakah, if his intentions are inline with his actions and inshallah, he will gain some wisdom and perpective out of this incident.

This story was published in 2008, it was FAKE; What happened was the brother (who was not Somali btw)was at the bus station and people were waiting at the bus stop for him to leave. Then he prayed in the empty bus while they could see but it was still his resting time. He pulled up to the stop, some people were too scared to get on and others had already phoned the police.

I wonder - could he say "oh People I am going to pray, just a chill at the back for 5 min?"... was he worried that the Salat will pass before he gets to his final destination? why didn't he change his shift if he was worried he would miss the prayers? Did he ask the Local imam what he should do in case such he faces such a problem? did he seek a fatwa of what he must do?

Feels the dude just acted without much thought of the consequence of his actions!

LOZ do you personally know the person in question or whether he did indeed ask the questions you are insinuating that he did not already know the answer to?

It is one thing to share your views and suggestions on the matter and what you would have done if you were in his shoes, but it is completely different thing to pass a judgment and to condemn this guy based on facts gathered from SOL and other twisted tabloid newspapers that are bent on vilifying Islam.

This story might be fake but here's a real story for you! The only difference: instead of praying the driver took a 7 minute break in a coffee shop :D

TTC Driver Caught on Break

A TTC bus driver has been suspended after being caught on video taking late night breaks in a donut shop.

The seven-minute video shows the driver exiting the bus and entering a doughnut shop, where he uses the restroom and then buys a drink. The bus is left idling, the door open. When a rider complains about the delay, the driver can be seen putting his finger to his lips in a gesture meant to silence her.

^^I think it made the news b/c a lot of TTC drivers have been shitting on us riders for years, but finally someone caught it on video.

It was a pretty big deal last week. the problem now is riders are running around with the cell phone cameras trying to catch other drivers 'in the act'...to the point where they're harassing drivers who haven't done anything wrong.

I don't get what is the fuss, if a driver wants 5 minute break to get a coffee..no biggie...Unless you are late from somewhere which one shouldn't be like if you are going anywhere you gotta give yourself enough time to get there either on time or like 5 minutes early...

It truly annoys me when some passengers just swear when a driver goes out of the bus for a second, obviously hes human and wants a break..its not even much of a break he comes back right away..some people just have issues...(cadhada aduunka u qabaan dadka masaakinta ula dhacaan)

salaam

In this case he was clearly out of line for taking long & unauthorized breaks in the middle of his route while ppl sat in a cold bus at 3am...and I guess it was against the rules too since he was suspended.

I don't think most rational people have a problem with drivers stepping out to buy coffee/food... but long breaks shouldn't be in the middle of the route. shouldn't they have rest stops at the end of the line?

It's a bad time to be a TTC driver these days. Did you guys know at least 2 are assaulted every day by angry passengers?

^I guess you have a point about taking long breaks.

Anyhow, isn't that why they have that glass thingy nowadays...not that its gonna save them from a crazy passenger..but they are taking some steps for precautions.

TTSC BUS DRIVER SHIELDS

On this side of the world, the driver is the captain of the ship. He can order you off the bus or get the transit police give you a ride in few minutes. Plus video cameras rolling. I can't remember last time a bus arrived on schedule.
