While there is no question that the SNM struggle was just, there is also no question that the onset of anarchy and de facto statelessness in the south precipitated the blurring of its vision from anti-opperssion roots to secession. Most founding fathers of the orgainstaion fought heroically to uphold the dream of one Somalia with fair distribution of power, priviledges and resources. The young generation are just being fed the negative aspects of the union, and indoctrininated with something that is akin to clan cult beliefs. behind the facade of 'nation building' looms an act of tragic revival of clannish identity.

To be fair to him, he is fighting on the ground and why can't he be a General. I know General Gabre who is pulling the shots in Muqdisho has been a tribe fighter only a decade or so ago. Ninkan faraha halaga qaado!

^^^ Very good news. I think I read it somewhere. But I wasn't putting it here as information. I was more of postulating. Anyway, ilaahay ha rumeeyo warkaaga. Talking is not the problem Abu Geejire. It is talking for what? ma wax heshiin karaa kuu muuqda? Kala qaybsiga unbaan diidan ahay. If they have to talk, it has to be as ARS. A faction xal ma keenayo.

The Asmara group will fire the Shariif soon. The TFG will offer no substantial concessions to his team as they could bring in not much capital: They can't stop the fight. And his relevancy will evaporate soon. But, no one will remember him as a bad man. He was good-hearted, albeit a populist. He has done his best under the circumstances. Evidently, his best was not enough to make him a saviour of the nation. I believe he will rejoin his collegues in the not-so-distant future. It was with their muscle, that his words had might.

Only few days back, Obama's path-breaking 'let us talk to all' electioneering rhetoric was the pillar of the 'pacifists' argument for dialogue with the TFG (by extension Ethiopia). Not short of sources to fall back, I know they will mount their defences with yet another quotations and references from contemporaries or from history. Anyway, the Obama card is out for now! Read below. LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is distancing himself from expectations he would meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and taking a more cautious stand on talking to other U.S. adversaries. With criticism from Republicans turning harsher as Obama moves closer to winning the Democratic nomination battle against rival Hillary Clinton, the Illinois senator has shifted -- but not abandoned -- his position. Sen. John McCain, the Republicans' presumptive nominee for the November election, has expressed outrage that Obama would talk to Ahmadinejad, whose country does not recognize Israel and who has branded the Jewish state a "stinking corpse." "There's definitely been an adjustment in what was initially a pretty categorical position," said Ross Baker, a political scientist a Rutgers University. "As (Obama) has gone around the country campaigning, he has realized he's had to fine-tune his position." In a CNN presidential candidates debate in July 2007, Obama was asked if he would be willing "without precondition" to meet with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea during the first year of his administration. "I would," Obama said. "And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them -- which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration -- is ridiculous." CAREFUL PREPARATIONS That put him at odds not only with Republicans but with Clinton, who said she would pursue more engagement with foes like Iran but not promise a top-level meeting immediately. Obama later said that though he would not set preconditions on meetings, there would be careful preparations. He calls President George W. Bush's approach "cowboy diplomacy" and links McCain to the president's foreign policy stance. But as Republicans have painted him as someone who would be willing to "cozy up" to foes like Ahmadinejad, Cuban leader Raul Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Obama and his advisers have emphasized preparation would precede any meeting with leaders of adversarial countries. Obama said on Monday he would not guarantee a meeting with Ahmadinejad, since Iran is holding a presidential election in 2009. "There's no reason why we would necessarily meet with Ahmadinejad before we know that he was actually in power. He's not the most powerful person in Iran," Obama told reporters. Under Iran's system of clerical rule, the Islamic Republic's religious establishment has final say in all state matters. The Bush administration's stance on Iran was there would be no meetings unless Tehran agreed to suspend its nuclear enrichment program, Obama said. "Since presumably that is a major topic of conversation, what that really means is we're not going to talk to Iran, and that's the policy that they've initiated," he said. Preparations, by contrast, mean making sure that meetings begin "with low-level diplomatic engagement and that there's a clear agenda so that any meetings would be constructive." He also stressed a meeting doesn't guarantee concessions. In a speech on Latin America last week, Obama said he would be willing to talk to Castro's communist government but "at a time and place of my choosing" and "only when we have an opportunity to advance the interests of the United States." The McCain campaign accuses Obama of backtracking and says that shows he lacks judgment on foreign policy matters. Baker of Rutgers University said Obama's shift makes sense politically. A meeting with Ahmadinejad would be unacceptable to Jewish voters whom Obama wants to court. Promising unconditionally talks with Raul Castro might be unpalatable to Cuban-American voters, he said. "There are mid-course corrections in every campaign," Baker said. "It's better for him to make that course correction now than later in the campaign." ^ Noted. But, I transaletd what Gadid said to NN in Amharic. Emperor I have erred. As usual, my temperment is getting me down. But again, old age is not a sanctuary that offers immunity to cheerleaders of submission and indignity. Men or women , it doesn't matter. For every ounce of the riches squirted out audaciously in that gig, a child or two might have perished back home. It is probably stolen money. For I assumed most people there, are somehow, associated with warlords. If they had a drop of nationalism in their grey blood, hitting the floor with reggae and R&B, would have come last to their heads. Gadiid Ya sawye, tinishu NN, adhaghan-gnaa naw.Kaftagna ye goosaa Jigir alabat!!

Hassan Turki: Somalis Should be Ready to fight against the UN Troops
Abtigiis replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
^ Inadeer, Axmaaro la'aan TFG waxba ma aha. They will be hanged in the streets Like Ceaseuscu of Romania in a broad daylight!!! The UN troops will not intervene in the politics, I assume. While the Axmaaro are holding the TFG togather. If they leave, expect replay of the boxing scenes in Nairobi. They are utterly ill-desciplined and won't last a week. H&T has made several uncalled for vitriolic comments on several occassions, including threathing to storm Hargeisa. Was that a priority at the time? Or is it wise all togather? What does we will fight the UN mean? Muu iska aamuso, till things get clear. -
^ Eienstien's thoery of relativity applies to this subject too. It depends on who stands beside you. But must all people be either tall or short. Away kuwii dhexe?
-
Nephtys, If you continue to harass short men like that, mid gaaban baan kuugu duceeyay. Anyway, how short is short. I mean in terms of centimeters. Give me a range, so that I learn the bad news. Is 1.77cm short? Malika How do you know?

^^Nepthys Sheekh HT meel uu ka socdo iyo meel uu u socdo anigu ma garan koley! There is no question on his stamina and valour, but his judgement and political awareness is that of an infant. It hurts to comment in this harsh way, because odayga Xidid ayaan nahay. very close xidid. He doesn't respect the chain of command. Remember i don't mean Sheikh Sharif or those whom he has a difference in outlook. I mean even his friends in Al-shababa. He is like an Island and takes all decisions by himself. -
Alla maxaa islaan nacamle ah meesha taagan! Graduates of 'geerasheyn courts' eerie nostalgia! Mistaking Ilbaxnimo for misbehaving! Waa kumii Somaliya fusqi ku dumiyay!! Gadiid Your Amharic is poor. The song is Erikum Erikum (from Wollo), a distinctive love song. Something in the line of 'Liilalaaw' in the somali, where everyone is allowed to sing a diffrent lyrics to a similar tune. The best was hit by Martha Ashagarii, though. [iriii bal sokota, iri bal garaado, Erukum, yishataal galahe, Erikum indhaaw Zamadheewaa] weeye; where is the nationalistic vibe????????? Erikum is an archaic Amharic word not known by many, but is supposed to be somthing like Foox in Somali. Only people in Bati areas of Wollo know it. The second song is an adaptation of the old man- Argaw Badhaso's Gurage song 'Alam Biree Naynay'!! Still a love song. From late 1980s. Gadiid, Dadka ha harwsan!! There is nothing wrong in listening to a music from Ethiopia, but I think Naxar Nugaaleed will know this is no mean search for diversity. It has a political message. It shows utter contempt to the Somali people's feelings and is a manifestation of nauseating submissiveness!! ISSHIIISH!!

^^^^ Xiinoow Horta, miyaana sheegin meel Las-caanood ka so kaysa inaan Jawaabtayda laga doonayn!!!!!!!! Cali-dhuux iyo buuhoodle ma cuskatay. You know what, contrary to what my clansmen wanted me to believe, as I listened to Gubba years back, I always felt Cali-dhuux was the best!! Given that you have to fall back on that legendary man for a response, the analogy of qunbulad and Miskiin doesn't reflect the poetic contest between Xiin and A&T. If it does, then who is Miskiin, waa la arkaa! I saw your Hadiyad. I want to exhaust what is in it, but my initial reaction is that it only confirms the picture I have of you. Halgamaa daalay, deh!! Jacaylbaro isaga waa horaan fahmay. Iilkuu ila ekeysiinayaa! In fact it is a big minomer. Xumaanbaro in la yidhaa bay aheyd. Sheikh Shariif wali hadda way isugu kaaya jirtaaye la soco.

^ Xaaji Caddani is a prudent and pious man of immense stature. He sure matters and if he thinks the Sheikh will acheive something with his optimism, I for one, welcome it. Now that the division I feared has materialised, I won't jump the gun. Let us see what the 'pacifist' wing can deliver. I will not wish them failure just becuase that will dent my earlier lamentations and self-affirmations. The Somali people are more important than winning debates, and if I am forced to eat back my words, because the talks yield results beneficial to the suffering Somali's, it is a huge honour for me. Let us hope my mordacious navel-gazing will finally be wrestled to the ground. Having said that I can also see long knives are out of their shades from all sides; and expect heads to roll this week. Which faction's decree of firing the other matters is what I am eager to see. Fingers crossed, but I think in the end, this development hearalds the fragmentation of ideologies and antagonists in the somali conflict rather than a coalescing of divergent ideas. It is a detrop. The wrost spoliers will be Ethiopians who will see this as a product of their hard-hitting military strategies. They might opt to continue with more stick than carrot. I know they will do!

^ Whether General Ilka-jiir or Ilka-dacawo, what counts is his policies and vision. Anyway, why is it most puntlanders are Generals anyway? What happened to the Captians, Colonels (except yey) and Lieutnants. And why is it that after General Cadde, another General is needed? Once a solider, always a soldier. And solidiers are not reputed for promotion of democracy. But maxaa iga galay bal. The man certainly has some charisma. I only want to know his positions on extradorinary renditions and human trafficking. That aspect concerns me more.

Ayoub Adiga calankaa aad is hor wadaan diidayba, to start with. But good of you to show Xiin's position years back. Curiously, it only cemented my beleif that the man is a patriot and a pragmatist. I agree with all the arguments he stated above. Except one. Xiin the one thing that seems to escape your attention is who is in charge of the TFG? is it not Ethiopia? Then how do you expect such an entity to do what you rightly say willl be to the disadvanatge of the masters? for the sake of argument, let us do away with the simliar quaqmire the opposition is in Eritrea. For my intention is to show the irrelevancy of the TFG as a credible government. As a group among the many competing forces (not government) it is logical that it has a role to play in future reconciliation. But they have forfeited the claims of governance when they do nothing about upholding the soverignity of the country and protection of its citizens. Ethiopian commanders who come back from Somalia hadaad la sheekayasatid, waad is dili la hayed as a somali. It is disgusting how they talk about pushing and shoving 'Minsters' and 'Parlimentarians' in the ignominous TFG. Gabay is not my forte, I know. In fact I have rarely tried to compose two lines before this week. But you must admit, if I take time, I can perfect this raw talent and can be a composer of "afareey's".I don't think I can be able to do a proper poetry. Xiinoow faraska ka dag oo xabad joojin iga guddoon!!!
