In with the new, without with old, it is the natural progression of life-soon Al-Shabaab will control all of the south.

I don't know if it is the end since everything in Somalia is not that predictable. What is true however is that they are being sidelined by Al-Shabaab almost to the point of no return. Aweys joins no military or economic prowess anymore and Turki is talking to Al-Shabaab as we speak.

The Somali problem didn't start and won't end with Somaliland.

Maybe we should redefine the word "hero"? There's nothing heroic about celebrities as good person as Woods might be. That said, I do feel celebs sometimes. I guess it is double edged sword to be one.

The Sheikh has/had arrogant ambition that knows no limits and he paid no heed to any possible repucursions whether be environmental, economical, social or political-it looks like that arrogance and lack of foresight has come to haunt him. *Wonders what peacenow would say about 10,000 prostitutes and sex trafficking not to mention the ill treatment of the poor South Asian economic migrants* -
Puntland: where mediocres reign and maestros fade
Che -Guevara replied to Abtigiis's topic in Politics
And what did he get by way of recognition let alone an accolade from the region he hails from. Nothing. Where and how is he? He lives in a delapitated part of Mogadisho with abject penury. His problem is not because he didn’t compose ‘patriotic’ songs which end with the flourish “learn from Puntland”. His problem is his blood is “not clean’’ and he is what is correctly labeled as the “looma ooyaan”. What is your responsibility to him? where mediocres reign and maestros fade Only you will miss the irony in your statement. -
^Turkey if done well is really tasty, of course one must go the whole nine yards and add stuffings and other goodies to make it even tasty. Bari waaye is Turkey day-still at work.Hoping to leave early.

^You would be asking too much if you talk about ethics with Somali "officials" but you are right the biggest issue for Puntland is the type of governance any future Somali government will adopt-and to that end, they will throw many things in the mix to realise their goal. On different note, though it is international donors that decide where, when, and how their money is spent, it is good that this issue gets raised. Never understood Somali and troops will be trained in Uganda or Jabouti where they have easily done that in Somalia itself.

I was with you till you mentioned Xaaji and A&T, edit so this thing doesn't get hijacked! This "bad" press was learning curve for Faroole, hopefully he will take some lessons from it.In the bigger picture, it was an opportunity for Puntland to present issues that are great importance to it.These include the constitutional framework for any future government, foriegn aid, and the relationship with Ethiopia in the context Ocaden issue. The approach to addressing these issue could have been better, but the fact that these were raised is what will matter in the end.Now that they are out there,it is something both Puntland and other parties will be forced to address and come to some reasonable solutions.

Mr. Mohamed Heebaan, Ali Bahar Ph D Vs Abdul Ahmed III, Janet Britt
Che -Guevara replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
You are welcomed. The Fallacy of Regional Panacea By Mohamed Heebaan Oct 13, 2009 Abdul Ahmed’s and Janet Britt’s(who acknowledged to have co-authored the piece or their study with him) display their enthusiasm for Somali regionalism below, when Abdul Ahmed writes, “The international community must realize that Somali regionalism (whether it is a virtue or a vice) must be acknowledged. It must also be a parameter to consider when devising a policy for reconciliation and post-conflict institutional building. From policy design perspective, regionalism is an essential element to consider. US, UN and the international community must view the former Somalia as a country that consists of distinct and divided regions.” Mr. Ahmed takes one step ahead and urges the US and international organizations to abandon the idea of Somalia as one country altogether, when he writes, “ It is therefore sensible for the United States, United Nations and the EU to abandon the premise of Somalia as a single monolithic entity.” Abdul Ahmed, once more, takes one step further and puts the onus on the US and demands that America bring about the regionalism that he is proposing, and make it a fact on the ground, when he writes, “The United States in particular has a unique opportunity to treat Somalia as decentralized entities without officially affirming the country‘s dissolution.” It is very clear from the quotes given above that Abdul Ahmed and Co. are using every persuasion possible to have Somalia decentralized or dismembered into various regions. And the question is, what kind of regionalism are they proposing for Somalia? The indication we gather from the writings of Mr. Ahmed and Ms. Britt suggests that they do not want a region web page -
