  1. Suppose the troops come, are they going to sit in baydhabo forever? Are they coming to Muqdisho to fight on A/Y's behalf? And how will that enable A/Y to rule people he bloodied with foreign troops? Don't you think people prefer death over subjugation by a foreigner they don't like and being ruled by someone who guided them to their homes? Col. Yey must have forgotten the fact that Foreign Troops came to Mogadishu in early 1990s, and left with a bleeding nose. What makes him think Ethiopia will do better where the superpower failed?
  2. Oog Boi, do teach the old pal where Oog is. Malaa waxa uu uhaystaa inay triangle'ka ku dhextaale. btw I hear a brand new school was recently opened by the SL education minister there. Qudhac Riyaale marka uu red-carpet helo sida uu u socdo ayaan ku qoslaa. more
  3. Col. Yey thinks Foreign Troops will provide him security and let him operate in Mogadishu. There are two kinds of Foreign Troops. 1. Peace Keepers - 2. Occupying forces Peace Keepers (PKs) are well known and are very small in numbers and are only sent to monitor and not engage in warfare, unless they come under fire themselves. But their main objective is just to monitor and have access to both areas of the opposing sides. Occupying Forces (OFs) are forces specially sent to carry out specific policy (i.e. install a puppet regime or support a weak friendly regime) for a foreign state(s), i.e. Coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, or Isreali's IDF in Palestine. Col. Yey requires an Occupying Force to install him in Mogadishu. But the Big question is, is there any country in the region that is prepared to commit itself to becoming an occupying force?? I do not think Ethiopia, even if its prepared, is capable of keeping Col. Yey in Mogadishu. Occupyig is no easy job.
  4. to go back to the topic how do you see what seems to be the new thinking of africans towards somaliland and the weakining of the old adversaries such as egypt, and do you believe this administration of Udub is capable of takin advantage of this new wind of opportunity. I think this is a one-off offensive and not a complete change of policy from the UDUB led government. If there was any change in policy it would have reflected in the Budget which was allocated for the Foreign Ministry, which by any account amounts to beanuts. There is no doubt that Africa is open to the cause of Somaliland and is willing to listen to it. The 2003 succesfull visits to Senegal, Nigeria, Mali and South Africa support that fact. Somaliland didn't follow up to those visits and its really sad that we have no one advocating for our cause in most regions of Africa, specially West Africa. What Somaliland needs is not a one-off visits, it needs consistent communications with those countries and we need people on the ground. So, in my opinion, this indeed is a step in the right direction, but we need to keep it up and not leave it there. what is also your take on the power tussle between the lower and upper house of parliaments, what do you think saleeban nur is upto, rumours has it he is targeting riyaale seat in the next election I haven't heard about the Saleeban ambitions but the Guurti's recent self-relection amounted to un-Odeynimo in my opinion. Cumaamaddi ayay dhulka isaga rideen. A year or two - we could've understood and maybe supported, but to extend their term of office for 4 long years is uncalled for. The supreme-court's haste decision to endorse that was even worse. It shows that the "unelected" institutions (the Guurti and the Supreme Court) are not yet upto the mark as far as our democratisation efforts is concerned. I support the lower house on this issue.
  5. London, June 16, 2006 (Haatuf) – Wasiirka Arrimaha Afrika ee xukuumadda Britain David Triesman ayaa Somaliland ku tilmaamay Qaran leh dawladnimo dhamaystiran oo xasilooni taam ahi ka jirto. Lord Triesman oo ka jawaabayey su’aalo ay xubnaha baarlamaanka UK ee House Of Lords arbacadii dhaweyd ka weydiiyeen shir ay dawladda Maraykanku soo qaban qaabisay oo lagaga hadlayo xaalada ka taagan Somalia waxa uu sheegay in ay dawladda UK ka qayb geli doonto shirkaasi, waxaanu yidhi. “Siyaasada xukuumaddu waxa weeye in la taageero hay’adaha ku meel gaadhka federaaliga ah ee Soomaaliyeed iyo in hab loo dhan yahay loo maro dib u heshiisiinta iyo soo celinta nidaam dawladeed oo shaqeeya, sidii looga hirgelin lahaa Somaliaâ€. Lord-ku wuxuu ku waramay in xaalada Somalia ka sii dartay oo ay khatar colaadeed oo ka dilaacda qarka u saaran tahay, dedaalka ay wadaan dawladaha awood badan leh ee Maraykanku horseedka ka yahayna uu ku jihaysan yahay sidii looga hortegi lahaa halistaa. Wasiirka oo la weydiiyey in Qaramada Midoobay kaga haboontahay Maraykanka hogaaminta shirka lagaga hadalayo arrimaha Somalia ee shalay ka furmay magaalada New York, iyo inkale wuxuu ku jawaabay “Xaalada Somalia way ka sii dartay xoogagii Muqdisho qabsaday way soo ruqaansadeen, oo waxay gacanta ku dhigeen Jawhar, lamana oga inay dhinaca Baydhabana u jihaysan doonaan iyo inkale. Waxa kale oo jira ifafaalooyin muujinaya ciidamo badan oo lagu soo daad-guraynayo xadka Itoobiya, waxaanan qabaa qoladan [la magac baxday] Contact Group inay qaadaan talaabooyin deg deg ah, mana taalo in hadda laga wer-wero cidda shirka ka qayb gelaysa iyo cida aan ka qayb galayn, hase yeeshee si dedaalkan lagu raadinayo nabadu rajo u yeesho waa in dhinacyada colaadu dhexmaraysaa ay hadda dagaalka joojiyaan oo ay iyaga iyo xukuumadda ku meel gaadhka ahiba midba ka kale la shaqeeyaa, haddii kale xaaladu way sii xumaan doontaaâ€. Waxaanu Lord Triesman ku baaqay in beesha caalamka ay la gudboon tahay sidii ay u oofin lahayd xayiraada hubka ee saaran Somalia. Lord Anderson ayaa wasiirka weydiiyey in xukuumadda UK u aragto in xukuumada Somaliland ay door ka ciyaari karto wax ka qabashada arrimaha Somalia iyo inkale iyo weliba inay jiraan wax xidhiidh ah oo ay arrintaa xukuumadda UK iyo beesha Caalamkuba kala sameeyeen Somaliland. Lord Triesman wuxuu ku jawaabay, “ Waxa jira xidhiidha socda oo aanu la leenahay xukuumadda Somaliland, waxaanan halkan si weyn uga xusayaa xukuumaddaasi. oo inkasta oo aanu caalamku ictiraafin, haddana waxa halkaas ka jira Qaran leh dawladnimo dhamaystiran. Xasiloonida Somaliland ka jirtaana shuqul kuma laha xaalada ka aloosan Somalia inteeda kale â€. Isaga oo hadalkiisa sii wata Lord Triesman wuxuu yidhi. “ Wax kasta ha ku kacdee ilaalinta xasiloonida Somaliland waa arrin aad u muhiim ah, waxaanan aaminsanahay in arrintaasi noqon doonto mawduuc lagaga doodi doono shirka Midawga Afrika ee lagu qaban doono Gambia horaanta bisha July ee sannadkan â€.
  6. ^^ Xoogsade sxb, wali ma maqashay hebel guuxiisii wuu ka dheereeyey. Awoowe, waxa hore loo yidhi, ninka kabaha aad ka tolanayso kabahiisa ayaa la eeggaa. So far, waxaanu ka aragnay ICU'da oo Somaliland tidhaahdo alaylehe waa wax ku dayasho mudan, ma aragno. THe ICU appeals to those who long suffered under warlordism. But, I think if ever there is going to be a replica in Somaliland, I think they would need to work a little bit harder, not with guns but with the pen, if they want to win the hearts and minds of the people. Besides, in Somaliland we have a mature political system. hadii culimadda reer Somaliland damac kaga jiro siyaasadda waa inay u maraan wadadda saxa ah. Taaso ah waa inay u badheedhaan inay tartanka doorashooyinka ka qayb qaataan oo cod ku helaan kursiga ay doonayaan. But, like Qudhac said, we are pleased that Mogadishu, long last, is ruled by one group. We wish the people there good luck and we hope they succeed in their areas.
  7. This could be a lesson for our own Somali ones who strayed from the right path. Veiled Hanan Turk calls Iran ‘role model’
  8. Yeah "Stuff History" This is the year of the underdogs. This morning the English team almost survived what was to become one of the big upsets of the tournament when they managed to score two late goals against firsttimer T&T team. We gonna give Brazil a tough time too, if they ever gonna win that's. Hey Rokko What do you think of the match between Austrlia and the Croats. Will the Aussie Croats stay loyal? I know they are ultra nationlists, these Croatians.
  9. is also a good chance if the Maxaakimta kick out that last warlord remaining Riyaale who held the people of the North hostage and denied them their full rights, and now he is demanding from the Guurti he wants his time be extended! Get your facts straight sxb before you vomit such nonsense next time.
  10. This is amazing indeed. The H-clan needed something to kickstart a revolution since the USC revolution died in its infancy. I hope this lives on and unites them under one rule. This is a chance to put together an adminisration which extends from the banks of Jubba in the South to the deserts of Mudug. I reckon such an administration could easily become one of the most powerful blocks of what used to be Somalia, not only in military terms but also economy and population size.
  11. Warlords Warlords Warloords watcha gonna Do when the Wadaads come for ya. Yusuf Indho Cadde is on fire. Make M.Dheere the 5th warlord disabled by him, in a row. I thought M.Dheere would put up some sort of a fight, wuxu intaa ku soo dhabarjabay ayaa sacaado lagaga dhiqaajiyey. Waxa Warloorka la yidhaa ileen waa xaabo. I hear Indho Cadde's melitias are heading Westwards and are near Buur Hakabo near Baydhabo. Bal Col. Yey wuxu sameeyona aan aragno, ceebtoodiiba waa niman kitaab sita la dagaalame.
  12. It was one of the best matches thus far in the WC. The fighter spirit of the aussies is amasing. Cameback from behind to beat Japan 3 to 1. Go Aussies
  13. Suldaanka- As I penned those words, I had a nostalgic recollection of our Oodweyne and one of his more more longer articles on "Somaliland and the affirmation of its statehood". It doesn't cut it cammo. You gotta back it up with something that reflects the realities out there on the ground or withdraw from it.
  14. ^^cammo ragganimodu wax bilaash lagu helo maahe waa shay lagu hanto goobta raggu isku xiniinyo taabto. You gotta earn it. Rag haddaad u haysiyo barbaar halabsatoo fuusha Mar uunbaad u heensayn lahayd hawlyaraan subaxe Aniguna halkaad degi jirtaan ka haasaawayaaye
  15. Clever Suldaan, you know what die-hard secessionist and warlord followers have in common , lack of rationality and fairness! You think Puntland is warlord held land, and Somaliland is, well, a shining beacon on the hill! Xiinow cammi, Qolqolkiina maana ku xidhay Qaalinka candhoobay? Waa yaabe. Sxb, anigu warlord kamaan dhigine, taariikhda ayaa ka dhigtay.
  16. ^^take that vomit to some waste dump Cammi, in the 1960s it was Hargeisa that took you to Mogadishu despite the opposition of your politicians of such move. In 1990s, its again Hargeisa that has decided to revoke the union. Either case, you were not important and had little in the decision making process. So sxb, relax and enjoy the ride. Cammi, colaad iyo nabad - marinkaad soo martaa waa kuu mubaax.
  17. ^^ Sxb relax I was just trying to imitate Baashi's kaftan-dhable. Jalxadaha inoo ilaaliya taariikhda yayna inaga lumine.
  18. Sxb not only that, But Rayaale waa nin kasoo jeeda qabiil laga tiro badanyey oo hadana cod ku helay inuu ka fooso nin mujaahid ahaa oo dalka u soo halgamay. Halkee ayay ka dhacdaa, gayiga Somaliyeed?? if there is anyone of his equal in the Somali political landscape, I would like to hear it. To put it in terms that Horn might understand, it is when a leader from the Garre community of Ceel Waaq run for president of Jubbaland and wins against Bare Hiiraale in a competitive democratic elections... that is when you can compare Rayaale to anyone else. But before that, whatever you say here amounts to the LAX I mentioned earlier.
  19. Legitimately, Somalia is an intact state lacking a central government. In that respect, Dahir Riyale Kahin is a warlord and Somaliland is a warlord fiefdom. Mind you, I did not say Riyale was a bad warlord or that Somaliland is a badly administered warlord fiefdom, nonetheless he is a warlord and Somaliland is a warlord fiefdom. This is lame Horn-ow. You are trying to twist the fleshless definition of the word as found in the dictionary. But we are talking about Somali "Warlords". What is a "Somali warlord" in your opinion?? As for my take on Somali politics, C'mon Horn, ma siyaasad ayaa lagu mesaali karaa siyaasadda Somalidda, even 100 year old aged blind habar will tell you all about it. Wax qiimo dhacay haduu aduunkan jiro, its the Somali politics. Markaa sxb, don't think you are better than anyone. The data is more or less the same and the sources more or less the same, the outcome depends on which clanish-sieve you sift it with.
  20. Horn What is a "warlord" in the classic Somali sense? Isn't he someone who starts life as the head of his clan's melitias... works his way up the ranks (thanks to the BBC for giving him 5 minutes of airtime), becomes a household name.... deligates the role head of melitias to an aspiring future warlrods and assumes the role of an overseer bargaining his newly found fame for more political successes.... or uses that as a stepping stone towards more successes at national level. And at times of hardship returns to his former role and leads melitias in clan wars and occationally takes to the airwaves... Col. Yey and Col. Cadde Muse spring to mind as classic text-book examples of what every warlord is dreaming about. Cadde Muse came all the way from Canada and spent time in the bushes being the head of his clans melitia before he was rewarded the position he currently enjoys. Sxb, how does that apply to Somaliland and its president? you said it, don't mince words, explain sxb la iskama bacaacyidhaa sidii laxda e. Gen. Duke Since the Artha Conference in Djibouti there were two sides competing for power in Southern Somalia. 1. The Artha faction and its supporting warlords (Headed by Cabdiqasim Salaad Xassan) 2. The SRRC faction and its supporting warlords (Headed by Col. Yey) It is obviously clear which of the competing factions was dealt with a serious blow. If Col. Yey did not participate himself, it was the political ideology that he subscribed to that was defeated. Unless Ethiopia breaths new life into the SRRC, it seems its days are gone. Col. Yey is no doubt a desperate man today. He has been pressing all the buttons trying to reach out to the victors so they could hold talks with them, and hope that he might be welcomed in to Mogadishu under their mercy. But its Cabdiqasim, Col. Yey's archrival, who is the top dog today, its he *Cabdiqasim* who is playing his cards close to his chest. There are a lot of options open for Cabdiqasim and his boys at the moment. 1. To slowly but surely cripple Col. Yey and destroy him overtime by first: a.) making it a precondition to sack Cali Geedi from his PM role and install one of his close kins in the role. b.) by forcing him to take a position that Ethiopia might not find confortable with. c.) And eventually taking over the TFG behind the closets (Using Sherif-ka speaker of parliament and the Member parliamenterians) d.) Finishing him Or. 2. Cabdiqasim and his boys will put together a rival administration in Mogadishu Either way, Col. Yey's days are numbered.
  21. I gotta tell ya buddy, ur fixation on the fate of the strongman in Arlaadi territory is uncalled for Nin durbaan qaatay ilaaq dalbay Baashow.
  22. to "me" I have asked you to discuss the morality & legality of the issue. I am not disagreeing that sanaag is a multi-clan province and that the peace that is holding on the ground today is a peace of convieniance this peace is better then war for both sides but the people from the triangle know how fast these things can chance so hold you horses. LOL Sxb, if you are not disagreeing that Sanaag does not belong to a particular clan then why would you come here and make such claims earlier on? Anyways, you mentioned in your previous post that: 1. The clan of "lascanod" was never colonised. 2. That the clan of "Lascanod" volunterily joined the Somali Republic. On both accounts you couldn't be any more wrong. I wonder if there is any other indivitual who agrees with you. If you find any, let me know. Before that, I urge you to go back and learn the facts of the subject matter. But I just want to let you know... jalxaddihii ingriisku biyaha ku shubanjiray waagii isticmaarka ayaa wali Lascaanood la isticmaala. The people of lascanod looked well after them - intact, while the clans of Burao and Hargeisa destroyed them on the eve of 1960s.
  23. ^^ The clan of where?? Sool Sanaag and Cayn? There is no such thing as a particular clan owning those regions. If you don't believe me, I urge you to go right down there and let your own eyes be the witness. You will be surprised at how much lies you felt for. In fact, you will curse those who made a fool out of you by telling you cheap lies. This is how things are: Sanaag region is made up of 3 districts which are Ceerigabo (The capital), Ceel Afwayne and Badhan. Ceerigabo and Ceel Afwayne are both under Somaliland control, while Badhan is under a clan melitia control. Sool region is made up of District of Lascanod (Capital), Caynabo, Talex and Xaddun. Of these 4 districts, the district of Talex is the only district which 100% out of SL control. All the other districts are either 50:50 or 100% (Caynabo). Buuhoodle district is part of Togdheer region. There are 11 major villages that come under Buuhoodle district, of these 11, 8 are under Somaliland control, while the other 3 are under clan malitia control. In the 1960s, Buuhoodle district was represented in the Parliament by a MP from the clans of East Burao, this is because the majority of the people in that district are from the clans of East Burao. So sxb, if you don't believe me again, be my guest and get the ticket and get the real facts on the ground.
  24. I can understand that y’all itching to lambaste the strongman in Beydhabo . "Strongman" in where?? Baashow, the old man is 'up sh!t creek without a paddle’. The current top dog in Southern Somalia is non other than that shrewd looking crook-eyed shiekh Yusuf IndhoCadde. The man proved time and again how powerful he is. He was the central player in all the conflicts in the south since the start of the MBagathi conference, helping his friends succeed where they would otherwise be facing defeat. And he delivered time and again from Morgan to Baydhabo and to the current defeat of the warlords in Mogadishu. As they say, the man is on fire.
  25. Inna Kaadi Najaasle has some good points there, Baashow. But he gave the toothless TFG more than it could chew on his take on things. The current conflict which is raging in Banadir region has exposed the irrelavance of the TFG - not just to Somalis but also at the world stage (mind you, islamists taking over a capital is a big news headline). The thing is, if Ethiopia or the US were to use anyone to do the dirty work, it will be Mogadishu's defeated warlords. They are in a better position (on clan grounds) than anyone else to take on the Courts. And since they are no longer part of the TFG, they are particularly attractive to get outside support (ie Ethio or US). Ethiopia, having playing the cards for the past decade or so, will not sit idle and watch its eggs being distroyed like that. I think it will, one way or the other, flex its muscles. If and when that happens, I think Geedi's haste decision to sacking of the Mogadishu warlords is something thats gonna haunt him for the months to come.
