  1. Interesting. A similar phenomenon was experienced in Togwachale district couple of years ago.
  2. The Nairobi group is already failing the diplomatic and political war before their military adventure began.

The Laaska clan's big guns and well known politicians are all in Hargeisa. The so called "biig" (lesser valued cards in classic Somali Turub/Cardgame) who gathered in Nairobi will not bring any new thing that will change the reality on the ground. We will see where this warmongering Garaad's words fall.

  5. I would have prefered if a cheap politician delivered the ultimatum and not the Garaad but that shows the level of experience of the young Garaad. Anyways, this will not change much on the situation on the ground. The Garaad is underestimating the level of support by the locals for Somaliland just like Puntland had. And as Somaliland's Deputy Chair of Parliament Mr. Baashe stipulated, if there is ever a breakout of clanish war in Sool as has been in the past then it will be between the locals and not anyone else.

  11. UDUB political gurus must have thaught real hard about this and they must have concluded the political costs are too great. Kulmiye must be disappointed that UDUB government refused to go under the same roof as the warring factions of Southern Somalia. Had that happened, it would have definitely been an election winner for Kulmiye. All the conspiracy theorists would let hell loose. UDUB pulled it off big time.

  13. Timesonline.com Nevertheless, he intends to make Dahabshiil's foreign exchange, banking and mobile phone businesses as popular among Somalis as the money transfer business. His ambitions are seen clearly in downtown Hargeysa, where a huge new Dahabshiil bank is under construction. “Very soon people will be able to go to a Dahabshiil ATM in Hargeysa and withdraw money,” Mr Duale said. “Very soon, we will offer a lot of the products you can get in London here in Hargeysa. Why not?”
