  1. Sorry to be a party pooper, but really hate the cavalier way people toss the word 'rape' around.
  2. The 40-year-old has been wearing straight hair extensions for years, but it turns out all those glues and chemicals have really messed up her natural curly hair underneath. "It looks like traction alopecia, hair loss caused by the use of extensions," a hair expert from the Institute of Trichologists tells The Daily Mail. "It is very common in people who wear braids and tight buns, as well as extensions." Source Tight buns? Braids? Really? Does that mean I'm going to be bald since 90% of the day my hair is in a tight bun? And I used to braid it a lot a couple of years ago. Anyway, hopefully people would stop putting all these crazy chemicals into their hair. An interesting take on it
  3. ^I love going to movies alone too for the above reasons. Amd also because I hate to compromise and watch what the majority wants. I want to watch what I want dammit!
  4. He starts reading at 2:34, if you don't want to watch the whole thing. It is so difficult for us to memorize the Quran when it is right in front of our eyes...so this video is extra special. May Allah bless this young man, increase his knowledge of the Qur'an, and grant him Jannah, Ameen.
  5. Assalamu’Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh Welcome to Western Canada’s largest annual Muslim Youth Conference. This momentous event is the result of the collective efforts of most Muslim youth groups in the Metro Vancouver area who are constantly looking forward, through the lens of our Islamic faith, to better understand their religion, become better Muslims, meet new brothers and sisters and serve as a bridge to the future of Islam in our community, insha’Allah. This year’s conference theme will be: Following the footsteps of the Prophet (saw) LIVING ISLAM LOVING HUMANITY "O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)". Hospitals

Why is it that if a Somali person goes to the hospital for any reason (mild respiratory issue to serious illness)...50,000 Somali people (whether or not you know them) come and visit? I know the hadith about visiting the sick and I think it's great but there are no manners! They are oftentimes loud (disturbing the other patients sharing the room), they bring their 84 children and let them run loud and loose in the ward (the hospital is a nasty place, I wouldn't bring my cat never mind a baby!). Ugh. So embarrassed! **don't worry if I don't make sense...I'm writing this after a twelve hours shift...why the hell am I on the computer anyway?!!!!**
  7. Khayr, Did you try to shukaansi a sister into being your second wife and she rejected you? Is this a response to that? Hmmmm.
  8. Wow. The girl is not asking you for money or to share your husbands. She is simply asking for dua. I can't believe how xasid some people are with something as simple and effortless as dua to a fellow Muslim sister in need. Some of you refusing to make dua are probably happily married yourselves... Anas reported: The Prophet (s.a.w.s) said, "No one of you is a true believer until he likes for his brother that he likes for himself." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Amna I pray that Allah blesses you with a husband that makes you closer to your deen. A man who is a good father, husband and friend. Ameen.
  9. ENGADENT --- Color us (not) surprised, but Apple is definitely launching a tablet tomorrow. At least, according to the CEO of one of the planet's most noted book publishers. In a recent interview on CNBC, Terry McGraw (head honcho of McGraw-Hill, naturally), very openly admitted that books from his company would be coming to an Apple tablet "tomorrow," and he also confirmed that his company has "worked with Apple for quite awhile." As he dug the hole deeper, we also learned that the "tablet will be based on the iPhone operating system," and he noted that said books would be "transferable." We're assuming an updated iPhone OS is also in the works, one that presumably supports textbooks in the way that the mythical tablet might. Obviously we're not taking any of this as gospel until Stevie J confirms or denies it on stage tomorrow -- for all we know, Mr. McGraw may have just seen something speculative -- but it's not too often you see a CEO blow this much pointed smoke. Peek the full quote after the break along with the interview clip. Watch the video ----------- Would anyone actually buy the iTablet (or whatever it will be called) if Apple in fact does introduce it tomorrow? I just hope that they say something about the new iPhone 2010/4G. That's the only thing I'm interested in. Some artist renderings of the iTablet:
  10. The whole book is ****** and anyone who bought it either lacks common sense or just wanted to have a good laugh. 1. A beautiful home and a well cooked meal makes ANYONE happy. Men & WOMEN. I remember how much I appreciated my mom's well cooked meals after a long, long day of school & work. No arguments there. That' not the point though, is it? 2. Ask no questions? When did man rise to the level of God? This is such a retarded statement - it makes me wonder how many of those hundreds of women interviewed for the book are in an abusive relationship, because that's one of the signs of a controlling, abusive relationship. Do your job, ask no questions, follow orders. Goodness Gracious...
  11. Mz-Alpha Soup - go do what you gotta do...but why come here and tell us? Are you trying to convince yourself that's what you want or ...? As Rhianna so eloquently says: So live your life, ay ay ay. Instead of chasing that paper. Just live your life (Oh!), ay ay ay. Ain’t got no time for no haters. Just live your life (Oh!), ay ay ay.

    PDAs

I was thinking about getting an iPhone to use @ work (hospital) but I'm not sure whether the phone & camera parts would be considered violation of HIPAA. I don't want to waste that much money & find out it's not permitted. Anyway - for those of you who use PDAs @ work...what type do you have, what do you like about it, & how useful is it? Need recommendations please. I've done some online research but I want to hear from people who actually been using it for a while.
  13. Reminds me of the qoute 'There are no ugly women, only lazy ones'. The difference you can make on your appearance by just choosing clothing colours and sytles that fit and flatter you, doing something with your hair and skin is just incredible. But who has the time for that? And who really cares. No matter how you look, there will always be someone who finds you attractive. So fret not. Enjoy your frizzy hair and mismatched clothes and bushy eyebrows. I am
  14. I'm addicted to gum. I eat a pack a day. Am I the only one?
  15. ^I'll be your travel agent Smoky Mountains Andrews - a litte pricey, but gorgeous There are a couple that are around $80-100 a night though.
  16. One of my reccurrent daydreams is about vacations. I recently found this cool site that lists private properties that you can rent around the world --- if you don't like hotels and doing the touristy stuff. It features regular houses, apartments, cabins, beach properties, villas, etc. It lists everything you could possibly want to know about each property, the prices, and pictures. It also has a link to email the owner if you have further questions or want to negotiate. Vacation Rentals by Owner I've always wanted to swim at the beach, but obviously couldn't. However, I've found a lot of properties with private beaches That's something to think about. Anyway, this site is good if you're going as a family or group of friends. I'm currently drooling over this place: Tanzania
  17. I wonder if you can take your iPhone to the bathroom if you have a Qur'an app on it? Hmmmm...
  18. We're all so very lucky. He married her so he doesn't have to pay for a nurse. And what fine benefits does he get too. ***Edit***

  21. Lion-Toucher, If we expressed rage every time a man did a stup1d thing ---- we'd have no time to have a life.
