The Al Shabaab assassins and the Ahlu Sunna hit squads that have targeted them of late will not deter the progress of the city of Galkacyu. This sectarian violence will bring about a change we have all been waiting for. A new admin is required and the sacking of all the top officials of the city and region. The city of Galkacyu and the region of Mudug needs to have competent, forward looking and young leaders in place. We can not accept the status quo and the two top leaders of the city and region should go. If they refuse to then the people should push them out. The whole old guard needs to be sent packing. No longer can any of us accept what’s taking place in this city and this region. Galkacyu is the second largest and most important city in Puntland State. It’s the largest city in central Somalia as a whole. I will place all the blame at the feet of the locals. It’s our fault in not taking matters into our own hands and prioritizing our city. It’s time for the large reer Mudug Diaspora to wake up and take the necessary steps to help their community back home.

This is great news. The eastern regions of Puntland, are large, rich in resources and people and historically important. Bargaal was once the capital of the Kingdom and now much neglected. More needs to be done, the locals of Eyl. Garacad, Xaafuun, Qandala, Caluula and many other towns and villages dotted along the long coastline of the Indian Ocean need to develop grass roots civic admins. Anyone who thinks this is a “secession” or a break up of the State of Puntland are day dreaming. This is no more than the natural growth of the state outside of the long highway. Well done to the people who have now put their villages, towns and regions on the map. I am proud of you.

Abdullahi Yusuf is spot on about the need for a Somali centric solution and inside Somalia. Faroole's position was a Somali National Conference inside Somalia. Did he achive this? The political committee at ministerial level to recommend the best way to hold Somali – Somali dialogue inside Somalia. The committee to submit its proposals to the Council of Ministers as soon as possible. 3. To hold high level consultative and reconciliation meeting inside Somalia between 11 to 16 June 2011. This meeting will be chaired and organised by the Transitional Federal Government with the support and consultation of the UN and the International Community. 4.
