The 40,000 Mogadishu citizens that fled from Mogadishu in 2006 and 2007 to Hargeysa don't seem wealthy in the video. Somaliland leaves Somalis in limbo Breakaway state's disputed independence leaves Somali refugees ineligible for aid. Mohammed Adow, in Hargeysa, Somaliland Somaliland's disputed independence has left hundreds of Somalis ineligible for UN aid and unrecognised by Somaliland's government. Hundreds of Somalis fled recent fighting in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, taking shelter in the relative safety of Somaliland. According to the UN, fighting in Mogadishu has displaced about 400,000 people. An estimated 40,000 of those have fled to Hargeysa, Somaliland's capital, with thousands of others scattered in other settlements throughout the territory. Fatuma Abdullahi, one of the refugees, told Al Jazeera: "I fled from the Bakaara area of Mogadishu during the heaviest fighting in April. It took me 16 days to reach Hargeysa. I am here with some of my family members while others are still in Mogadishu." "There is no going back for me. I am here to stay," she said. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2007/05/2008525185419254144.html " frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>
  4. The trick is to be steps ahead of them.Aaliyyah Isn't it coincidence we're getting friendlier ahead of 26 June .
  5. True, I always knew Britain had a hidden motive in getting close to Culusow's regime. Anyway waan ku salaamay walal hope you doing well.

Imagine if canada and America also follows suit. This is nightmare. USA and Canada already started deporting criminals to Mogadishu, I remember reading back few months ago some Somalis from Minnesota and Toronto were deported there.
  7. Isn't this kid called Moonlight from Pirateland? your kind have no business in Awdal, Waqooyi Galbeed, Togdheer, Sanaag, Sool all that belongs to Somaliland and its people.

  10. Good if it will materialize. It is not us that you should try to convince that Mogadishu residents are ready to be civilized, won't loot the scrap metals, loot the properties, farms and not destroy their city again but rather this should be made aware to Mogadishu citizens.

  12. UN donated vehicles won't make your city safer, it is the human capital that matters. Mogadishu is low on disciplined intelligent police officers, rather you have the former scrap metal looters of yesterday posing as policemen and harassing IDPs and the city people.
  13. I agree they are an embarrassment. All kinds are in Mogadishu nowadays even Sierra Leone.
  14. The big difference between the Somalia army in Mogadishu who don't even have proper military equipments and the AMISOM soldiers(guardians of Mogadishu) who're well equipped and fed.
  15. Scrap metal looters is the nickname for Mogadishu criminals as they famously looted most of the scrap metal in Mogadishu starting in early 1991 to 2006... Among the Somalis.
  16. Britain builds £14m prison in Somalia Rebuild ... the old prison in Somalia Alamy Sunday, June 23, 2013 BRITAIN is spending £14million on a jail to lock up terrorists and pirates — in Somalia. Taxpayers’ money will also go to fund mobile criminal courts in lawless states currently plagued by al-Qaeda. The prison in Mogadishu will ensure dangerous warlords are kept behind bars. It will also make it easier for Britain to deport foreign criminals and terror suspects. More than 400 Somali criminals are in UK jails because there is nowhere to detain them back home in Africa. International Development Secretary Justine Greening is splashing out to rebuild the Somali capital’s 180-year-old prison, which will hold 700. But she risks a row about Britain’s overseas aid spending as it is protected from cuts. Somalia — scene of Hollywood movie Black Hawk Down — is fighting al-Qaeda terror groups and pirates who prey on UK ships and tourists. Ms Greening said: “By building jail places and courts in Somalia we can help our African allies challenge terror and crime on their own doorstep so less ends up on ours.” Source: The Sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4980128/Britain-builds-14m-prison-in-Somalia-to-cage-terrorists-and-pirates.html
  17. Your metal scrap looting ministers and president of Somalia can't even visit Somaliland and yet you're dreaming of this.
  18. That is because Jigjiga was never totally destroyed besides it is helped by the internationally recognized Ethiopia government, yet the city is still small, lacks any modern telecommunications, towers etc and the economy sucks.
  19. Do you even know the size of Jigjiga? It is a village compared to Hargeisa and it doesn't have many modern towers like Hargeisa.Burco and Jigjiga would make more sense, even though Burco is larger and has more expensive modern towers.
  20. Don't hate kids. Hargeysa despite total destruction two decades ago today is the best looking Somali city if you exclude Djibouti.

  22. Ban 'shocked' over UN office attack in Somalia Wednesday, June 19, 2013 United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is "shocked" at the news of an attack on a UN compound in Somalia on Wednesday, his spokesman said. "The Secretary-General is aware of the attack against the United Nations in Somalia, and he is shocked by it," Martin Nesirky, the spokesman, said in an e-mail. "He is being updated regularly as we get more information from Mogadishu and UN Headquarters in New York." Ban is currently on a visit to China for talks with the country's leaders. Earlier Wednesday he held talks with Chinese president Xi Jinping. Three foreigners and at least two Somali security guards were killed during the attack by Islamist insurgents in Mogadishu, UN sources said. One UN staff member and two contractors as well as at least two Somalis guarding the fortified compound died, the sources said, taking the toll killed -- excluding attackers -- to at least eight. The nationalities of the foreigners could not be immediately confirmed. http://www.hiiraan.com/news4/2013/Jun/29917/ban_shocked_over_un_office_attack_in_somalia.aspx
  23. Exactly. Ambassador Kay can cry to the UN headquarters in New York all he wants, if his office wants to do the bidding for the Mogadishu administration they are not welcome in Somaliland.
