OK now you guys have straightened out Somalia, you have straightened out Somaliland with all the SSC, Awdal and every community in every enclave where Somali people live and you want to use the same approach to straighten the kilil. There is a criterion to have zone, Awraja (district), Wereda (sub district) and qebelle smallest unit of government. I am sure you have not even for just common decency ever done any reading on how the structure works. Let me give you an example from Somalia: Do you think every clan should have a federal region, where according to current formula you would have 4.5 regons. Do you think every sub-clan should have federal region it may not be practical since some sub-clans are in many regions. To resolve this you can have sspecial districts. Within a region dominated by one clan, other clan areas can have district government that is little bit higher than normal districts. All I am saying is this is changing structure with development, capacity to support all functions, population..etc. There are open criterion. Its not an individual administrator's wish or lack of it. Its federally mandated and state implemented.

Isn't that what every Somali should do if capable? What does it mean to preach tribal politics without and criterion. If you have a region or community that is almost close to being encamped to prevent famine, all animals dead and another region has food, but needs more development, where would be your first response? Do not accuse others of something you would do exactly the same. Lets have some common decency when arguing for this or that region. I have heard some people without conscience talking about the US forces that were helping with goats health and feed, that they could have been used to build something else in other areas. 1. The Somali in Ethiopia, like it or not is one body. Other Ethiopians see him that way and he sees himself that way. 2. Development must be integrated and supporting each other and not a house here a water well there. The small money available need to be used where today's dollar is basis for tomorrows another dollar. 3. There is enough time and opportunity when planning is done, nothing is done in secret, and is quite fair since its done by scoring (awarding points) on the priority. Construction of roads must be done by the people between villages, by the state gov between districts and by federal between some federally selected zones, but between kilils. There is local government to smallest unit, there fore a village leader can plan, agree with inhabitants and build roads to next village. I wish the people of every area had capacity and not expect or wait for Illey. Wouldn't that mean that deveopment has reached higher?

Believe it or not even that seemingly simple solution requires a lot of convincing and some times even force. The good thing is most people now a days do see the risk if this way of life continues. The kilil can only afford a small size nomads with animal health, mobile schools, mobile clinics but not every Illey that wants to go in every hill side individualy. lol No. There was major draught in the kilil. On a serious note: Ethiopia and Somalia need to coordinate their development plans. There are two big hydro electric dams and at least two artificial lakes (which can support about 10 towns each) in the coming years. The earlier the co-operative studies and soluyions are started the better. galbeedi, What would you say that Somalia should be allied with Egypt and wage water war on Ethiopia and Sudan? just joking.

With Abiy Ahmed a new era of Oromo rule in Ethiopia has started
Old_Observer replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
lol A dictator cannot succeed with the Somali people. Can last a few years, but cannot accomplish any thing of significance. What made Illey successful to the degree he did and in shortest time but wide ranging is the following: All the Somali parties in the kilil realized that the Somali is at great risk, greater risk than other nations in Ethiopia The clan elders once shown the hard facts and risks suported even ideas they did not like for the greater good All 4 Somali parties once united on common objectives showed trust and also solidly stood on those objectives even if some diaspora and also some areas showed hesitation when the going got tough There is now following facts on the ground no other leader can undo: Total autonomy Plan to even change culture to fit the development plan; Example: Culturally every society from Britain, France to China to Timbaktu has heirarchy of jobs professions..there are few Taylors, Waterman in British political top brass. In Somali culture you have the nomad at the top, the farmer next, hunter and other professions lower and lower. First the farmer needs to be higher. People cannot survive on goat meat or camel milk anymore. Settling and farming need to be given higher priority. Almost all groups agree on this. Therefore errors committed in some parts in this regard maybe condemned by the likes of our galbeedi here, but are innocent errors that need to be corrected. The Somali is rebeleous/independent culture. If it was Illey dictating without support of politicians and elders would have lasted mere months or years and not achieve such wide ranging success in education, health, economy, security and to a degree governance as well. Some ambiteous Somalis are envious of the opportunity Illey got, Some Somalis are obviously hateful, but most Somalis can tolerate even excesses and see them as government mistakes than intentional clan battles. The kilil has all kinds clans/subclans...of the Somali than anyther region where the Somali people live. -

No excuses. You wanted power, you got power. You wanted to govern Ethiopia, you got to govern Ethiopia, you wanted to rule Ethiopia you got to rule Ethiopia. Ethiopia is still poor and underdeveloped country with population of more than 100 million. You know what you are getting into. There was zero dollars in the bank and about 10 billion loan and millions dead and dying with famine, wars in all corners and no country big enough rich enough neighbor to help, when EPRDF took power. EPRDF had only guts. "Here is how Ethiopia needs to be structured to survive, follow us" People followed and the goods were delivered. From a country tittering on spliting up made it a regional power. From so many unhappy nationalities opressed identity, made almost all nationalites with self government and some even deveoping their culture, language, economy. Don't start making excuses now before you even step to the batting plate. -

Thanks for the laugh. So now you are convinced that the Russians and or Israelis cannot make for Tigray a computer program this far or without emotions? I had no idea there was not a single project in the TP II for Gonder area, but Abiy told them their area will be gateway of import export to Sudan and they are happy. The Amhara diaspora of course is already off the Abiy bus as you may know already from your fellow diaspora. The Amhara in the country have no choice and for the good of themselves and country better stick with Abiy and our galbeedi as consultant and strategist. -
Critical reflections on the last days of Somalia's Overthrown dictator.

Almost every issue is a crossroad. Even the first TFG from Djibouti would have survived and succeeded had the president not used it as a tool specifically against Puntland and other regions as continuation of USC. -

Again you have so much energy that you are not seeing the cliff. The Somali party ESPDP is not part of EPRDF so your Abiy can influence some members from outside, and that is if he has same dreams as you do, but has no power to do anything about it. It is the only region in all of Ethiopia that has total autonomy. Only the Afar come close to it. One fact you are missing is also that ESPDP itself is built and made by unity of 4 Somali parties. WSLF was maybe dominant and had both political and military wings, but others were also very influential on their own in Ethiopian politics, like the late Dr. Abdulmejid and Mohamed Dirir. It is also one of the few regions where the political party and the government have a bit of distance. Not every government action is ESPDP. Clan elders have a big role to play. There is some reflection from Somalia of course as is same people, in regards to regional/clan, but is very limited. All Somalis realize what is at stake in common as Somali in Ethiopia. -
I am afraid you have misunderstood my intention and reading of the situation. I have no reason or motive to defend the person of Illey, but the measures taken under his leadership. The biggest problem at the time was lack of peace and order in the kilil. There were 3 options to deal with the problem 1. Bring ethiopian military from everywhere and fight 2. The federal government take over the kilil (constitutionally allowed by Cabinet and later parliament approval) 3. The Somali take charge and bring order and peace on his own, by his own The third was choice of most and was done. Accomplished. The region was far behind in education and health: Co-ordinated resources, brought in Federal and also foreign countries including US and achieved what can be called spectacular success. Its also sad when you see some people even going out of their way to mention Illey and clan in same sentence. These are folks who want their turn at the chair nothing else, no alternative policy. In conclusion, is not a person, but policies and actions adapted and taken.

Oh you are back. You are so enthusiastic and energized today. Calm down a bit. There are 13 ministries staying the same as previous. Finance is not changed, so is foreign, but defence you are correct.(Defence, Transport and Communications all exchanged between Southern, Oromo and Somali) Speaker of course has to change since president, PM, speaker were all Oromo. New speaker is from South not Amhara. Actually if you divide ethiopia with straight line south north, most ministers are from South (South, Oromo, Somali). But before you jump, it was the same previous governments as well. North always had atleast one Afar, atleast 2 Tigray, at least 5 Amhara and Benshangul sometimes zero sometimes one. From Southerners as well. At least 2 Somali, atleast 7 Oromo and at least 6 Southern. That was always the average. One time a Gambellan and one time Hareri. -
Update on Ethiopia: Pariament, Regional States, new cabinet etc.

Why are some Ethiopian opposition in the diaspora blood boiling of Abiy's visit to Meqelle? The man just stated and repeated the obvious. The most shocking for these diaspora was how good Abiy spoke the local language, which is one of the most difficult to pronounce languages in the world. Jewish and Arabs can pick a lot of words, but especially for Arabs would be difficult to pronounce the most repeated sounds in the language. Only hebrew speakers can be able to pronounce fully or mostly. Here are what he stated and what angered the diaspora/Amhara. 1. Tigray is the first place where Christian (axum) and Islam (Negash) started 2. Tigray is the place where most wars happened against foreign powers and all defeated 3. Tigray is where Ethiopia was made and baked 4. Tigray is also not only the old Ethiopia, but the Ethiopia we have today was formed/established 5. Tigray is where the oldest city has been found (Shire) and the oldest monuments and obelisks exist 6. Tigray is the engine if Ethiopia is a car 7. The people of tigray have been tested by fire like gold, you are Gold 8. Tigray is the home of Yared (musician) and Zerayacob (Philosopher) old really old days etc.. None of this is manufactured. It has standing witness for most part. The problem is that the diaspora keep bragging about everything Ethiopian, but all based in Tigray. -
I am afraid to say that, you have not a clue to what you wrote. Why not for a change think differently. I know the Somali population is too big and matured to be in one political party or interest, but is small enough to have common interest. Can you explain if you do not mind, what is the main interest of the Somali Ethiopian population/ What would be your no.1 no.2 ..priorities if you had to sit on Illey's chair? Be specific and practical. General propaganda doesn't have a place here.

Its great that you are so convinced of this. It will go a long way to benefit Ethiopia. You folks have been given your marching orders to undermine anything Somali, but you can take this to the bank: Any policy or action not OK by the kilil, will not move an inch to the direction you are dreaming. Will remind you in a years time.

PM Dr Abiy holds discussion with residents of Gondar city Addis Ababa, April 20, 2018 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed today held discussion with representatives of dwellers of Gondar city and its environs. During the discussion, the Premier responded to various questions raised by participants of the meeting, which among the questions include demand for infrastructure. “Gondar has lagged behind in development and was not incorporated in industrial development plan,” they said. Responding to the question the Premier said “the questions are appropriate and acceptable.” “The regional state will work to resolve these problems. If they are beyond the capability of the state, the federal government will provide the necessary support,” he said. The participants also suggested the need for national consensus and to pardon forces residing abroad. The Premier said anybody who has the interest can come to the country, even those who have media aboard can operate at home, except those who took part in crimes of murder and red terror. Responding to question regarding pardoning detainees and issue of Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi, he responded saying “the government is working towards the issue.” As far as the border issue between Amhara and Sudan is concerned, the Premier said “I will discuss on the topic with President Omar Hassan al-Bashir of Sudan on the sideline of the Tana Forum in Bahir Dar tomorrow.” Regarding the question of Wolkite identity, the Premier said “It will be resolved based on the Constitution.” __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gonder is where the worst of the red terror was unleashed on Tigreans and Agew folks. Many young were killed by tying them to vehicle and dragging them till finished. -
You mean to tell me that ONLF works for Oromo and Abiy? or you are determined to try and deny any credit where due. I understand you prefer to credit Oromo than Somali even if the Oromo has nothing to do with it, but that is your choice. You even jumping the gun, instead of waiting to see, who the guy will credit with his release. Trying to stay ahead eh..Canadian
-
But those who jailed are also the same Block folks. He was just at wrong place, with wrong people and wrong time. That made it almost impossible for Canada to try and do anything to help him. He had counsular visit, but could not have counsular support.

Isn't that the truth even in western countries? Very few countries have leaders or dictators who are courageous to tell in clear, unambigeous words the deed they do. Most speak the opposite. And some double speak..but almost all do agreements in hiding except agreements of transportation, cultural dance etc. As long as leaders in Somalia do not have the courage to speak to the people clearly and anambigeously to the people, everyone will continue by assumptions. "We cannot continue fighting each other, to stay together. We have lost one million people to famine. We are the poorest and most backward country in the world. If against all this reality and truth, there are Ethiopians who want to fight the Eritreans to be part of Ethiopia by force, here is the horse and there are the fields and mountains, go and fight, we will not" Meles Zenawi in 1991

They tried, but they did not have the right papers. Example: Do you know under what passport he was travelling at that specific time? Do you know if there was any incriminating document or material at the time of his arrest? Countries have to deal with what the citizens or immigrants do conduct themselves. Good news to his family, if true Illey is the one who deserves credit.

Morgan declares his candidacy for Puntland presidency
Old_Observer replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
The reality is quite the opposite. The Oromo will be even more for Somaliland than any other group in Ethiopia. You see the relation with Djibouti is actually based not just in trade and port. The Afar in Djibouti and also the Somali are closest to the now old regime in Ethiopia by trade, business, blood, bones and as well the most important factor of all current interest. Since this port issue is between Djibouti and Somaliland, if one is to state the truth bottom of it all, and Since Djibouti cannot cut itself with superpowers not happy with it, it goes to show that everyone will stick to what they have. Djibouti, Sudan and Tigray/Afar are not changing anything. Americans to some degree have their man in Ethiopia PM and will be rubbing hands with Mr. Bixi shortly. Internally in Somalia as well, Gen. Morgan would not be a plus to Puntland. There may be questions all over Bay and Bakool as well as south that may make him unfavourable. -

Old_Observer replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
lol Not everything revolves around Addis. Morgan's contact to Addis and the channels have seen great change in 2000 and again in 2017. I don't think any of the folks that initiated the contact and made those things possible are in Kilil or Ethiopia. The no war condition is same for Djibouti and Addis. That is their preference, and hopefully preference of most Somali people. -
Is the Arab League trying to isolate Farmaajo's goverment?
Old_Observer replied to Dahireeto's topic in Politics
These Arabs are like children. All stayed away from being seen friendly to Farmaajo, afraid of UAE. The Saudis also did terrible. The Egyptian is a coward, he should have been the one to have one on one . He needs Somalia in more than one way. Somalia does not need him, he has no money, he is very selfish, he is coward, he is not principled.. It is good that Farmaajo went and exposed these children for what they are. No Somali after this will ask about Arab league this arab league that.
