  1. MashaAllah wonderful pictures. Thanks for adding the map aswell now I can finally imagine where the different places are located.
  2. It does exist and as Norf pointed it out, one must protect ones self from it. There are several hadith's, Ayah's or dua's that indicates it's existance. Imam muslim narrated that Ibn Abbas said, The Messenger of Allah (pbu) said: "The evil eye is true, and if there is anything that would precede Predestination, it woul be the evil eye". Abu said Al Khudri reported: The messenger of Allah (pbu) used to seek protection against the eil of jinn and the evil eyes till surat Al-Falaq and surat An-nas were revealed. After they were revealed, he took to them for seeking Allah's protection and left everything besides them (At-Timidhi). The Prophet (pbu) used to say: "U’eedhu bi kalimaat Allaah al-taammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli ‘aynin laammah (I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allaah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye).’” There are other hadiths from muslim and Al-bukhari that also says that the person who touch others with the evil eye has to perfom ablution so that the person affected can wash him self with it.
  3. Har ikke hørt om en lignende organisasjon før, men det trengs sårt. Kanskje stifter du den første og baner veien for de andre som ikke har tenkt på ideen før, i så fall er det en bra ide.
  4. I'd love to learn more about the lives of nomads. Such as learning how to set a guri soomali, learn how to make a dhiil, and other traditional stuff, like the ones they sew and which is used on top/inside the guriga. I'd also like to see and learn more about somali plants and their diversity, especially those used as an alternative medicine. Not to forget to experience walking through the night/late evening to watch somali folklore dances...
  5. ^^ lol. you really do scare people off the motherland sometimes. But at least the advice seem realistic. Interesting video and a great initiative, it was about time they made something like this.
  6. Looks great waxaas ayaa soomalinimo ah, Ilaahay ha u naxariisto.
  7. Aliyah I think she meant the sisters who dont treat the brothers the same by setting different criteria for their somali brothers than for other brothers. But I belive the majority does not do that and people choose what they agree on and thinks is best. Che guevara: I dont think its the mosques fault, but has more to do with the bad decisions people can make. I guess its like that with all marriages, no one knows how it would turn out in the end. Wadani: By easily impressionable youths i meant the guys aswell, not only the girls and including somalis who marry each other.
  8. Garowe girl. The somali girls I've seen that married non somalis all had big weddings. I feel people are more open to the idea now contrary to few years back when families usually only had the meher and nothing else. Unfortunately those type of girls you mentioned many of them face problems with their marriage later on. That is because they've streched their criterias beyond what they would normally do and is able to handle in the long run. Many are caught up with the beauty of a person converting, that they overlook the personality traits which is vital as no humans are far from perfect regardless conversion or not. It's very sad & this does not only happen to them but with many easily impressionable youths who are religious nowadays. As for the white dress, anything but white and black is fine with me, I find them boring and too common.

Never knew this, I had only heard about the good effects of honey for ones memory. Very beneficial information indeed.
  10. Today I really regret I took the longer route to the train. It was - 20 and by the time I got there I couldnt feel my fingers.

  12. Ameen. One of those stories one loves to reread. Thanks for sharing walaal.

Those were the books I frequently read my favorite were Matilda, The big friendly giant and Charlie and the chocolate factory. Roald Dahl brings back so many memories. I loved Matilda aswell and the witches. Somalee: I can't really remember my first book. But it was probably one of Gunilla bergstrom & Astrid Lingren's books (swedish writers) like Albert åberg, the brothers lionheart & Ronia the robbers daughter.
  15. Oday somali: Okay it would have been nice to read about it.
  16. Interesting read, It makes one feel homesick. Did you go to miyiga? If so how was your experience there?

Inan vs Inan. Calaacal vs Calaacal. Calaacal as in crying fault & Calaacal as in the palm of the hand. Thank you, I have only heard of yuus before. I have a lot to learn.
  19. Malika;890765 wrote: Oh dear. It seems some are stuck between 'Arab and Islam' and cant see beyond it..lol ps. The responds are typical of Somalis - I remember when conflict was riffe in the South, the Notherner would say - its the southerners , their conflict has nothing to do with me. If conflict was up in the North the southerners would say - its their conflict it has nothing to do with us . Such a mentality has enable the 'inner conflcts' to flourish for years - ciid iis qabaneysaa ama isuu naxeysaa baa iska yar. Marka all this 'somaliness' in this palestine argument is flawed as far as am concern. pss. THE PALESTINE CONFLICT AND PLIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM...hope that will help those anti Islamists here. Humility in the face of oppression is all that is asked here, then again Apophis thread on 'virtual aparthy' comes to mind - ... When people think in terms such as they and we, and I should care more about my own country's plight thats when you know things are not right. Indeed Far keliya fool ma dhaqdo and I cant imagine how our brothers and sisters of Palestine would feel if they were to see this thread, it is beyond saddening.
  20. ^^ Okay thats creative she did something different. A unifying thought indeed. I knew it had to be something along those lines because the ones I know in the picture are not the type to get into a beauty pageant. True said, there are few girls in that field MashaAllah hopefully with time more girls would also choose that path. Macallinka: I really hope you have asked permission to publish this wedding photo.
  21. They are progressing indeed thats great. Relatives usually go to burco hospital now instead of travelling longer distances ei to ethiopia etc.. I guess that says alot. Thanks for sharing it made my day!
  22. It looks like a wedding. I know some of the girls and they dont hail from the regions they are representing. Not that it matters if they do hail from there or not. Thats why I think its more likely a wedding plus Awdal looks like the bride and stands out from the rest. The two young girls she's holding hands with are probably close family. Nice picture though loving the hiddo iyo dhaqan clothes. . Did u get this on facebook or is it on a somali website?
  23. MashaAllah, your mother is right sis. You'll get so much more in return especially when you need it the most. Sometimes Its difficult to see who needs it the most. Many a times there are many at the same time or one focus only on those who ask and not so much on those whose poor condition is not known and is ashamed to beg of others. I guess thats when our parents comes in and is helpful.
