  1. Regarding the Somali Passport, the following is the advice I had given PM Geed before he resigned. I want PM Hussein to take note if he ever visits SOL...... At the beginning of the thread I suggested to PM Geed and his cabinet to formulate a system of “Citizenship Oath” in which all Somalis who apply for the new E-Passport pledge that they are not overtly or covertly engaged in unlawful activities in order to perpetuate the mass abduction and imprisonment of the communities in the northwest of the country. In other words, the Somali Federal traveling documents must not be granted to these who are working day and night to dismember the Somali Republic. I think this suggestion is Legitimate. For one thing, the secessionists are so drunk in their dreams that they believe their own passport is acceptable all over the world. But, knowing the fraudulent and deception practices of the SNM gang organization when push comes to shove and they realize their movements are restricted in Hargeisa-Burao-Barbar triangle, those who are not currently holding foreigner passports will secretly apply for the E-Passport. Mr. Geed and his cabinet can not feed the hands that are trying to destroy the Somali Republic. There are a good number of secessionists who are living in Arab Gulf countries with the old Somali Democratic Republic passports without which their residence permits are invalidated. The extremists of them are living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While I am not advocating disruption of the livelihood of some Somali families, these extremists must be put to test to live with their principle for the claim of “sovereignty of the northwest Somalia”. They must be either Somali citizens or not Somali citizens. There is another group who are extremely harmful to the unity of the Somali people. Most of these reside in the western democracies and majority of them have no real profession and live on the doll. They have either European, North American or Australian passports and can freely travel all over the globe without visa requirements. Because majority of them can not find meaningful work in theirs respective host countries, they are engaged day and night in spreading the propaganda for the SNM gang organization. When they collect enough finance from the welfare money and from child assistance programs, they fly to Hargeisa in order to act as “spiritual consultants” and moral supporters for the gang. If you ask me why they do this, on a personal level, each of them sees himself or herself as a potential ambassador or cabinet minister if and when the dream materializes. These secessionists who are holding foreign passports must be stopped in their tracks before they tear the nation apart. Mr. Geed, if you are listening this is how to deal with the enemy within. Entry and exit visas must be required from any person or persons traveling to and from Somalia (Somali E-Passport holders are exempted, of course). Since the Somali Republic airports are semi dysfunctional, under the U.N.’s international terrorist act, you can place your own Somali immigration officers at the major airport hubs such Abu Dhabi, Djibouti, Nairobi and Addis to verify the validity of the traveling documents of anyone going to or coming from Somalia. Same arrangements must be made at border crossing points, too. My main concern for suggesting a blanket requirement for visa and placing official at the airports of the neighboring countries, is to restrict the movement of the known secessionists. This must be the last world tour Riyaale undertakes. But, there will be bonus for you, sir and for the U. S. government. The visas will generate hard currency for the federal government. There will be some comfort the American government will receive in knowing who goes to Somalia and who comes from her. Chech the original thread
  2. From UN News Center Somalia: UN reports continuing tensions in north after clashes 21 January 2008 – Tensions remain high in Somalia’s disputed northern Sool region after violent clashes last week between troops from the self-declared autonomous Puntland and Somaliland provinces, according to United Nations humanitarian workers in the fractured Horn of Africa country. While there is no confirmation of internal displacement of civilians due to the latest fighting, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has registered some 1,240 people from Sool in Yemen since the start of this year. UNHCR also reports that some 20,000 have been newly displaced from Mogadishu, Somalia’s battle-wracked capital, in recent weeks due to ongoing violence. Meanwhile, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) has resumed distribution for some 200,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) at camps along the Afgooye-Mogadishu road. With some 7,400 children attending classes in 30 makeshift schools, UN humanitarian agencies are concerned that the constant movement of families on the run from the violence has left 4,000 remaining on waiting lists. The agencies have appealed for additional emergency educational structures in the Afgooye area. Somalia has not had a functioning national government and has been riven by factional fighting since Muhammad Siad Barre’s regime was toppled in 1991. 4. Security Council reaffirms respect for territorial integrity, political independence in Somalia, reiterates strong support for African Union Mission SC/9211 Security Council 5812th Meeting(1)(PM) Presidential Statement also Reiterates Request for Report By 8 February on Contingency Plans for United Nations Peacekeeping Operation Reaffirming its respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and unity of Somalia, the Security Council this afternoon reiterated its strong support for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and urged again the international community to provide financial resources, personnel, equipment and services for the full deployment of AMISOM. In a statement read by Council President Massimo d'Alema, Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, the Council requested the Secretary-General to report by 8 February 2008 on progress made regarding contingency plans for a possible United Nations peacekeeping operation to succeed AMISOM. The Council urged all Somali parties to reject violence and, with the support of the Secretary-General's Special Representative, Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, to enter into a substantial dialogue aimed at achieving a full and all-inclusive national reconciliation. Expressing its deep concern at the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Somalia (see Press Release SC/9189 for a briefing by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator John Holmes), the Council emphasized again the need for strengthened efforts to provide humanitarian relief assistance to Somalia. The Council further demanded that all parties in Somalia ensure unfettered access for all humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations, fulfil their responsibilities and obligations under international humanitarian law and take measures to protect civilians. The meeting began at 4:13 p.m. and adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Presidential Statement The full text of the presidential statement, to be issued as document S/PRST/2007/49, reads as follows: "The Security Council welcomes the briefing it received on 17 December 2007 from the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Somalia, Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, in which he made proposals on the political and security fronts and called on the international community to commit itself to a clear course of action. The Security Council looks forward to hearing more details on the Special Representative's proposals. The Security Council strongly supports the efforts of the Special Representative to work towards lasting peace and stability in Somalia. "The Security Council reaffirms its respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and unity of Somalia. "The Security Council welcomes the appointment of the new Prime Minister of Somalia, and looks forward to the early establishment of an effective Government. The appointment of Nur Hassan Hussein offers a renewed opportunity to make further progress on dialogue and political reconciliation, on addressing the humanitarian crisis in Somalia and on implementing the outcomes of the National Reconciliation Congress, leading to a road map for the remainder of the transitional period and democratic elections in Somalia, as set out in the Transitional Federal Charter. The Security Council urges all Somali parties to reject violence and, with the support of the Secretary-General's Special Representative, to enter into a substantial dialogue aimed at achieving a full and all-inclusive national reconciliation. "The Security Council also welcomes the briefing on 6 December 2007 by the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, John Holmes, which included an account of his visit to Somalia. The Security Council expresses its deep concern at the deteriorating humanitarian situation, aggravated by the prevailing security conditions in Somalia, and emphasizes again the need for strengthened efforts to provide humanitarian relief assistance to Somalia. The Security Council demands that all parties in Somalia ensure unfettered access for all humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations, fulfil their responsibilities and obligations under international humanitarian law and take the necessary measures to protect civilians. "The Security Council reiterates its strong support for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), calls on all Somali parties to cooperate fully with it, urges again the international community to provide financial resources, personnel, equipment and services for the full deployment of AMISOM, and repeats its request that the Secretary-General consult with the African Union Commission on what further support might be provided to AMISOM. "The Security Council also reiterates its request that the Secretary-General develop the existing contingency plans for the possible deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping operation to succeed AMISOM, as set out in resolution 1772 (2007). The Security Council requests the Secretary-General to report by 8 February 2008 on progress made in this regard." Note: (1)The 5811th Meeting was closed.
  5. From Borama News Network.. China donates 500,000 USD humanitarian aid to Somalia (Updated:-(Tue.22.Jan..2008) NAIROBI, Jan 22, 2008 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Chinese government donated 500,000 U.S. dollars humanitarian aid to Somalia through the World Health Organization (WHO) here Tuesday. China and Somalia enjoy cordial relationship, and the friendship cherished by the two countries and peoples have been developed continuously since China and Somalia established diplomatic ties in the year of 1960, said Zhang Ming, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, at the hand-over ceremony Tuesday. "The Chinese government has been always supporting the Somali peace process from the beginning and has provided help in varieties to Somali people within our capacity," said the ambassador, who paid a visit to Mogadishu last August and saw the accessibility of Somali people to health care was very low. "In order to express the concern and sympathy of China and the Chinese people towards Somalia and the Somali people, the Chinese government decided to provide a humanitarian aid of half a million U.S. dollars, for helping the internally displaced persons in Somalia to get more basic medical treatment and helping the people in need," he said. "What I can assure you is that, the Chinese government will continue, together with the international community, to make contribution for the peace, stability, reconstruction and development of Somalia," said the ambassador. The donation will be handled by WHO Somalia office to purchase medicine and medical equipment, and transport and distribute them to hospitals in Somalia. Both WHO Somalia Representative Fouad Mojallid and Somali Ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ali Nur were present at the ceremony. They thanked the Chinese government for the support to Somalia. 7. Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother Brother We shouldn’t have begged them. We should have taken the leadership 17 years ago. We should have shown the world that the south had wasted 31 years of Somali Republic and when the civil war had started in the south, we should have repatriated the Somali state to our beloved city Hargeisa and should have demanded that it is our turn to keep it for at least 31 years instead of imparking on a dead-end exit. Whether we like it or not we are part of Somalia. Why do not we organize our talent and get prepared to have our input in the Federal Constitution? As I have said before we have an excellent bargaining chip. Brother..quraan akhriso oo shaydaaka iska naar.. oo fursada ha lumin....
  8. Brother ...brother...yes I am begging you.. come to the common sense..come and let us rebuild the Somali Republic. we will be nothing without sharing our fate, sorrow and prosperity with our brothers in the south...we can not afford another civil war…you know and even the king of Saudi Arabia knows the Somalis need each other….les us cut our loses and swallow our pride to do the right thing….brother….brother

  10. I told you this is the carrot stage...so you can say anything you want because I know you feel defeated. Blow it out. You will feel good. But, I am just saying to you let us take the wisdom and advice of these who have built prosperity and democracy and who have been nation-states far more than you and I can remember. And I will keep saying to you brother, brother enough is enough. Let us stop this nonsense. You see you have the power now as you are saying just now no, no. But, that is what I call soft power and it is transient. Before it dries up lets make use of it, brother. By the way, how much are you willing to pay so that my signature will disappear? 11. Jacbur, since you have stop there, for sure you have read the title and the first paragraph. The message must have disturbed you……I do not want to go beyond that. It is the carrot stage now. Walaalow sagxaddii baad soo taabatee, think how you can get the most from the federal for our beloved city Hargeisa. The federal parliament is weak now and we are in position to dictate them our demands on specific areas of influences that northwest region should not share with the feds. I mean any power we demand other than secession, we are likely to get now. But, from year now, with the support the fed are getting from the world and the geopolitical change that is fore coming, I am afraid we will be treated as any other province. I mean instead we are wasting money, energy, time and blood, on something that will never materialize, why do not we get the most from the feds? We are in powerful negotiating position. Even, we can rationalize with the world community to relocate the Capital to Hargeisa although temporarily and let the other nations start operating their embassies there. The economic windfall will be unimaginable if you also count in the resources the uncountable NGOs that are prepared to rebuild Somalia will bring to the city. We need thinking heads not dreamers….
  12. The saancadaale who had tried to christen the northwest Somalia by that name saw the impossibility of their actions and took back that insult in 1960 and still you who claim to be a native of Somalia do not want to let it go. Queen Victoria is saying to you, you are Somali period, ama cirka u bood amase dhulka, fartaada oo qaloocdaa kama hadho.

  14. For Immediate Release Saturday, January 19, 2008 The leader of the secessionist Administration in Hargeisa, Col. Dahir Riyale Kahin, formerly of Siad Barre's dreaded 'National Security Service', paid a visit last week to Washington, D.C amid speculations and euphoria in Hargeisa that the United States was on the verge of finally extending diplomatic recognition to the breakaway region of our country. This provoked an angry response from pro-unity Somalis who demonstrated in front of the State Department protesting against presumed machinations to dismember their country; and they handed a protest note to the Department. Yesterday, the State Department laid pro-unity fears to rest by announcing in clear and unequivocal terms that the United States Government stood by the UN Security Council resolutions which called for the respect of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political unity of the Somali Republic, and did not therefore recognize "Somaliland" as a state independent of Somalia. The announcement further said that the United States considered "Somaliland" as a regional administration which is an integral part of Somalia. The announcement was proffered orally by the Department's spokesman, Mr. Sean McCormack, disseminated in writing and broadcast loud and clear over the VOA and BBC in Somali in order for Somalis everywhere to hear it and to be assured. In 2006 Mr. Tony Blair wrote to the secessionists in his capacity as British Prime Minister and in reply to a petition from them, that the UK Government did not and would not recognize "Somaliland" as an independent state, it being the policy of the European Union not to recognize it. The Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference have both also turned deaf ears to secessionist petitions. But the secessionists have pinned their hopes on the African Union to recognize them and have been spreading the word that the African Union was considering their case. This also proved to be blatantly untrue. On the contrary, Col. Riyale had been told by the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Mr. Konare, in a face-to-face meeting in 2004 "... that the concerns of Somaliland could be addressed within the federal framework agreed upon in Embgathi in the context of the unity of Somalia. I stressed the need to contribute to the success of the Reconciliation Conference and to make concrete proposals to that effect."(PSC/PR/2(V1), p.5,111 Situation in Somaliland).(Italics, ours) In issuing this Press Release, it is not our intention to cock-a-hoop at Col. Riyale and his delegation. Our purpose is to make a plea for rationality so that the secessionists will face the realities staring them in the face with courage and, having seen the light, will forgo secession. "Somaliland" has had a free rein for the last seventeen years and the huge efforts it deployed in pursuit of international recognition have been expensive in terms of energy, time and money. There was no central government to oppose and thwart those efforts, but the international community thought wisely that the Somali people should not be stabbed in the back at the hour of their greatest need. "Somaliland" has even made military forays into Sanaag and Sool regions which by choice are part and parcel of Puntland. It has captured Las Anod and occupied it in an attempt to advance its claim to independence. The invasion of Las Anod by “Somaliland” militias resulted in the death of over dozen innocent civilians and the displacement of over 50, 000 people mostly women and children. “Somaliland” is not only locked in a military conflict with Puntland but it also unwisely taunts the TFG in a bid to draw it into the conflict. We know from reliable sources that the European Union has recently told a "Somaliland ministerial delegation" visiting Addis Ababa that their military adventures were 'unacceptable'. We believe that "Somaliland" has reached the end of the road. We wish to appeal therefore, in keeping with our previous press releases, to our fellow northerners who dream of secession to wake up to the national cause of helping in the rebirth of the Somali State and to contribute their knowledge, their skills, their enthusiasm and their dynamism to the building of a better Somalia within which we can all live as masters of our own home regions in peace, justice, democracy and true federalism. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For further information, please contact: Gamal Hassan, Director, Communication and Public Relations Unit (NSPU) 5470 Merivale Rd. 15. Suldaanka, to try to prevent the occasional reader of this topic from being deceived by your delusional mind, I challenge you to provide the audience with the source of the following in one of the paragraphs from the link you cited and highlighted as “Press Release” other than from SNM gang’s websites. "The lack of recognition ties the hands of the authorities and people of Somaliland as they cannot effectively and sustainably transact with the outside to pursue the reconstruction and development goals." "the AU should be disposed to judge the case of Somaliland from an objective historical viewpoint and a moral angle vis-à-vis the aspirations of the people." In other words who in AU or which committee said that and where did they published? The official stand of the AU organisation on this mad and fancy ONE PROJECT of dismembering the Somali Republic can be found in the following press release dated on 26 April 2004. Read the whole document if you want but here I have copied for you Mr. and Ms. Reader the relevant section of the AU stand to this discussion: 20. Since they unilaterally declared the independence of their region, in 1991, the authorities of Somaliland have made sustained efforts to obtain international recognition. So far, these efforts have not yielded any result. On 13 March 2004, I received the President of Somaliland, who briefed me on the situation in that region and the achievements made over the past years. He stressed the need for the international community to accord international recognition to Somaliland. In the meantime, he requested an observer status within the AU, to enable Somaliland to follow the developments in the Union. On my part, I explained that the concerns of Somaliland could be addressed within the federal framework agreed upon in Mbagathi, in the context of the unity of Somalia. I stressed the need for Somaliland to contribute to the success of the Reconciliation Conference and to make concrete proposals to that effect. Sul, you have ran of gas man, the stress should not overpowered you. Your survival and dignity is within the Somali Republic….Akhii, get over it. It is just a case of bad dream…
  16. Every time Siyad Bare was in town and wanted to speak to the people 10 times of what you see on that picture used to come out to listen to his speeches. Were the people of Hargeisa enthusiastic supporters of the dictator’s policies? Do not be carried away with the photo. Some masses can easily be manipulated and mobilized for evil purpose. You can not prove me wrong if I argue the people in the picture are the cousins and relatives of the SNM gang whose opinion leaders have been failing to rationally formulate and articulate why are they day-dreaming to dismember the Somali Republic, the purest nation and race on the planet. The world knows SNM gang ambition is a “CLAN PROJECT”. I am sure if fair and free referendum is held where the YES and NO camps have equal access to the media and other public forums with no intimidation whatsoever, the “YES” for Somali Unity camp will easily win. Nobody can beat the BLUE HORSE, I tell ya…. Isla yaaboo, Afrika magaceeda u daa. More importantly the implication of this new emphasis of the UK government on the unity and the territorial integrity of the Somali Republic has to be correctly explained to the SNM gangs that are holding my city Hargeisa hostage because the English used to rule the northwest of the mother land.
