^^So what is the diff between the 'personal' website as opposed to the official website? One mentions un-regisered teams while the other doesnt? THE FIRST FOOTBALL WORLD CUP FOR NATIONS THAT DO NOT EXIST By: Steve Menary The breakaway republic of Northern Cyprus is set to host the first ever world cup for nations that don't exist. Recognised only by Turkey, which invaded the Mediterranean island in 1974, Northern Cyprus will host the 16-team Viva World Cup in November 2006. The tournament is being organised by the New Federation Board, a new organisation set up by a group of Swiss, Belgians and French to cater for 'countries' outside of UEFA. With more than 90 pitches and a number of stadiums, the biggest holding 28,000 people, Northern Cyprus was given the right to host the tournament at an NF Board meeting in London in June, where the organisation's first 17 provisional members were elected. Among their number are Somaliland , an unrecognised breakaway state in East Africa and a team representing the Sami (also knowna s Lapps), an indigenous people of 70,000 scattered across Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Russia. Sami playing professionally include Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen and Leif Isak Nilut, President of the Norwegian-based Sami Football Association, wants to bring as many top players to Northern Cyprus as possible. He said: "We are not a problem with FIFA or Norway because we are not a state but four different countries." The Sami will play in a warm-up tournament for the event in Northern Cyprus this autumn that will also feature Kosovo (not yet board members) and Monaco. The latter s a member of the United Nations but never pursued UEFA membership for fear of jeopardising AS Monaco's place in the French league. Other provisional NF Board members include Tibet - annexed by China in 1949 - Zanzibar, which forms part of Tanzania but retains membership of the Confédération Africaine de Football, the Roma, a team representing Europe's gypsies, and Gibraltar, refused membership to UEFA after Spain threatened to pull out of European tournaments if the Rock's residents were allowed in. The final NF Board member is a team from the Indian Ocean islands of the Chagos, whose population was cleared by the UK government in the early 1970s to make away for a US Airforce base and dumped in Mauritius and the Seychelles. After belatedly being granted leave to work in the UK, around 200 Chagos, mainly men, arrived at Gatwick Airport last year and are organising a team. Football representatives from Kurdistan in northern Iraq attended the NF Board meeting along with a member of Chechnya's national team, which is culled mostly from exiles in the UK and France, plus football federations from Occitania in southern France and Jersey in the Channel Islands. Jersey play in the South West Counties league against the likes of Devon and Cornwall and secretary Gill Morgan said: "The only concern we have with the NF Board is the cost of playing in this tournament as we don't have a sponsor." All the 'nations' at the NF Board meeting are expected to play in the Viva World Cup and a number of other non-countries denied a chance to play representative football are also interested. These include the Danish territory of Greenland, which has been denied membership of UEFA, the south Pacific island of Tuvalu and the Falkland Islands, whose national side will play in the bi-annual Island Games in Shetland during July. illahay ha unaxaristo Faithful throng mosques to pray for leader By Diaa Hadid, Staff Reporter Dubai: Muslims prayed for Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum yesterday in mosques all over Dubai after Friday sermons. The Jumeirah mosque was crowded with worshippers yesterday, who listened to the imam talk about Shaikh Maktoum. Worshippers had spilled outside the mosque and sat on the cool paving stones outside and underneath trees. "He was one of the first to establish the UAE, and he gave so much to the UAE in general and to Dubai specifically. His charitable works will not be forgotten, especially the Islamic centres in London," said imam Fu'ad Gazi. "He was one of the first to establish the UAE, and he gave so much to the UAE in general and to Dubai specifically. His charitable works will not be forgotten, especially the Islamic centres in London," said imam Fu'ad Gazi. After Gazi finished his sermon, he began leading worshippers in a series of supplications for Allah to allow Shaikh Maktoum into the highest parts of heaven. The traditional response to a supplication the word Ameen was said loudly and emotionally. "There was a blanket of sadness covering the worshippers," Gazi said later, "they were all following the supplications in a loud voice, you could see they were emotionally moved." The scene was the same across the hundreds of large and small mosques dotted all over Dubai, worshippers said. Meanwhile, a Haj tour operator has dedicated the pilgrimage trips of his company to the soul of Shaikh Maktoum. Dr Saif Al Jabiri, Deputy Ameer of the trip, expressed shock at the sudden death of Shaikh Maktoum. He offered his condolences to the Ruling families and the people of the UAE. Catholics service The large Catholic community in Dubai yesterday held a special mass in memory of Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum at St Mary's Church. Father Peter P. Matthew held a solemn high mass yesterday before thousands of worshippers "to praise Shaikh Maktoum, to thank God for the gifts God has given through him to the country, people at large and the Catholic community in Dubai," he said. Thousands of people crowded St Mary's Church while many more stood outside. During the service, a decorated picture of Shaikh Maktoum was presented, adorned with flowers and lights for worshippers to pay homage to him. Stephen George, 45, a plan manager, said he was praying "for Shaikh Maktoum's soul because he was a great man". M.L. Thomas, 48, marketing assistant and 25-year veteran of Dubai as well as the coordinator of the Malayalee Catholic Congregation at St Mary's Church, said he was attending the mass because "Shaikh Maktoum was a pious man. Shaikh Rashid was also a pious man, a great man who gave religious freedom. Shaikh Maktoum followed his father. I remember all the good things he did for the religious communities in Dubai". Link

Jose seams obsessed with Lpool Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed Liverpool are just a one trick pony as all they can do is defend. The Reds recently kept an impressive 10 consecutive clean sheets in The Premiership prior to conceding against Everton, but it is not their ability to protect their goal that has the Portuguese tactician flustered Mourinho believes it is difficult to hit the back of the net against teams utilising Liverpool's style and that you have to out-think your opponents rather than playing with your heart. "In fact they defend very well," explained Mourinho, "But they offer nothing else other than that. "It is very difficult to score goals when you take on a team playing with that style. "If you are playing that sort of team you have to do it with your head. You have to take your heart out and place it to one side. "If you play with your heart it is practically impossible to get past their defence. "And by playing that way, they create a good number of chances and get at you on the counter-attack." Liverpool will have the chance to exact revenge for their 4-1 thumping by The Blues at Anfield when they travel to Chelsea on February 5, live on Sky Sports 1. I really hope we beat them on Feb 5th, that will be a good boost for us.

World News: 20 dead in Mecca hotel collapse (cnn.com)
N.O.R.F replied to Benevolent_ Beauty's topic in General
Innalillahi wa ina ilayhi rajicuun Again there have been deaths during Hajj. Again we all say the dead have died at Hajj and 'lucky' them. I do not dispute when one's time to go is written for them and can not be avoided. However, there questions to be asked of the Saudi authorities with regard to safety in and around the mosque and now the structural capabilities of a nearby hotel. Some of the safety standards in the ME (during construction) is shocking to say the least with methods used being un-checked on a regular basis. The hotel looks like a standard concrete structure (reinforced beams and columns)now for a building to collapse (from the top down as it looks) there must been a failure in one (or more) of the floors. allahu aclam. allah yarxama to the deceased -

CL Your right there are also many Asian workers there who celebrate Divali and not chrismas. The shops in the malls do not cater for them its all aimed at the westerners. I know it’s a Muslim country but does that mean minority celebrations should be banned and people deprived of their holiday celebrations? Celebrations should be kept in their homes and churches and not blatently flauted infront of Muslims. CL, is it ok for Chrismas decorations in shopping malls in lieu of Eid deco? That just shows how much we are trying to please the westerners and get them to buy homes/work/live in the UAE.

The car is in heavy traffic, this is where i get 'waar dhee taa mar' ie left at the lights. To which i reply 'midhig miyaan aad igu oran'? to whoich i get 'haye waxan u-jedey bidhixe, ta qabso'. Its the same in English, we are people who dont know left from right

Fathia Your view on Dubai's architecture is different to mine. I dont consider stacking them high as 'good architecture' apart from a few buildings. I am boggled that you should compare UAE to America, a Christian country I was shopping in the malls dotted around Dubai last week. Christmas trees, jingle bells, fake snow, santa clause with kids, christmas sale the whole works. Not one sign or even a mention about Eid al Adha coming up. We were shopping for Eid whilst 90% of the others were shopping for christmas  In my whole 4 days in Dubai i hardly saw any arabs  Dubai is simply another western hang out, many americans/brits and russians and many empty mosques. Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah are better if you want to experience a little arab-ness. The UAE is more than just Dubai!

Accusations of the TFG Head Allocating Govt. Money to Overseas!
N.O.R.F replied to Alle-ubaahne's topic in Politics
Mr Rayaale can steal from a nation with a functioning govnt which will hold him accountable very soon (we all hope). But stealing from a nation which your aiming to bring out of the ashes is very 'unpatriotic' Does it matter if this is happening on both sides? Does it make it ok for Mr Yusuf to steal? How has this gone done with our 'nationalists'? Will they speak out against 'adeero'? International observers are detecting signs of failure in the way the TFG approaches the political differences within its 4.5 tribal structured adminstration. Western donor countries conditioned their support for the TFG in bridging the underlying gap between the two wings. Looks like another trip to Kenya by the end of 2006  -
