  1. Are we comparing what was said by the SL foreign Minister to what the TFG did - call a gaal to kill a Muslim and then help the gaal? You may not wish to recognise it but there is a difference.
  2. ^^Arsenal fan me thinks yeah but no but yeah
  3. Well first of congrats,,,,, I will try to give you a general idea insha allah You will miss London, family and friends big time for the first couple of months but after your just grinding as per usual. Driving can be a nightmare but once you get used to it you will be fine. Just make sure your close to the office. What is the living expense like? If I were to drive 4X4 (yes I care little for the environment) and live in a nice apartment; eat nice places etc. How much do you think such a live style would cost? General living expenses you mentioned are a lot cheaper than in London. A nice meal in a restaurant will leave enough change (you probably wont finish the meal anyway and take it home). Rents can be expensive depending where you wish to live but that will depend on you income. Again it will depend on where you decide to live. How is the culture like? There is a culture of division. Ie each to his own nationality group. Same as London I suppose. The Arab culture is not that evident but the culture of Islam is. The athaan, the quite Friday mornings etc. There is also a mall/consumption culture. As a Somali sporting a Brit Passport; would I be treated with dignity---- What is the perception (current one) of the likes of me; Somali with a british passport? You will be fine. They wont even look at you when stamping your passport. One thing though, if you do decide to take the job make sure you get your uni results and fax it to them along with copy of passport etc. It save you a lot of time and hassle if you arrive on a work visa instead of a visit visa. Its illegal to work on a visit visa but I did it for 4 months and its not really a big deal. But you will have to leave the country every month or two while things are being processed (slow Arabs).
  4. ^^Not talking of being forced but about 'enquiries' etc. As i said it will happen (being enquired about). We are just giving the sister a warning on how things happen. I have been through it myself lol I was 'ardey' then i was 'ardey' the next year aswell lol
  5. ^^As you said after 7pm the shops are closed and everyone stays at home which isnt a bad thing. Its not about too much time but simply being freindly towards your neighbours. I knew all the people on my street on a first name basis. I wonder how many people can say tha in London? As for the jobless Somalis thats just the same everywhere i'm affraid.
  6. I didnt know Vickey Pollard was an SOL member
  7. I'm sorry you met the wrong type of people but magaaladu is the freindliest place on earth. Where else do you say thank you to the bus driver as your getting off or have general chit chat with someone you dont even know just to pass the time? But Ngonge (scouser) would'nt open the door for a woman!
  8. ^^We are not joking ya Ibtisam. It WILL happen. You will get family coming over to say hello then it will oh here meet my son/nephew etc. When you hear that then you will remember this thread lol.

  10. A dictator has two or three meanings. Which one of the following are we talking about? a) An absolute ruler. b) A tyrant; a despot. I would call a tyrant a dictator but not the 'clean' absolute ruler. Would you really put King Abdulallah in that category?
  11. Jay is one of the nomads who recently went home for a while. He traveled quite abit but is refusing to post his pics (stubborn Hargaisawi). Think he has plans for moving back aswell. Another nomad Geedid was also there for a while. Not sure where he is now.

  15. Cities vie for 'rudest folk' tag Liverpool and Birmingham are the rudest cities in the UK, a new survey claims. Liverpudlians and Brummies are the least likely to give up their bus seat for a pregnant woman or elderly person. Glasgow and Sheffield (my old city) topped the politeness poll, which was carried out by Somerfield. More than 1,500 people took part in the online survey. About 99% of Glaswegians said they always offered their bus seat to a pregnant woman compared with 88% of Liverpudlians and 90% of Brummies. Sheffield residents are the most likely to be punctual, with 88% claiming they would arrive on time for a dinner engagement or party. Londoners are among the least punctual, with almost one quarter saying it is acceptable to arrive up to 15 minutes late. The Scots were found to be the most chivalrous, with 86% of Glaswegian men and 79% of those in Aberdeen admitting holding doors open for women compared with 62% in Birmingham and Liverpool. source Ngonge is from Liverpool
  16. Thirty migrants drown off Yemen At least 30 Somali and Ethiopian migrants have drowned off the coast of Yemen en route from Somalia, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) says. It said it was checking reports the number of dead could be as high as 78. The migrants, fleeing fighting and harsh living conditions, died when the vessel smuggling them capsized. This is the second mass drowning in the area recently. Fifteen migrants died in early February after being left in deep waters, Reuters news agency reports. The UNHCR in Yemen says that 27,000 people made the crossing from Somalia in 2006, but 330 others died and 300 went missing. The latest incident took place on Monday in the Gulf of Aden. According to the UN, Yemen's armed forces rescued 40 of the 120 migrants aboard the vessel. Desperate tactics UNHCR spokesman Ron Redmond said that 'sketchy unconfirmed' reports had come in of around 78 people having been drowned. "We are getting different numbers from people in the region.... apparently bodies are washing ashore in various places", he told the AP news agency. Migrants desperate to escape the conditions in the Horn of Africa region are smuggled into the Arabian peninsula. This has become increasingly perilous due to increased patrols by the Yemeni forces, leading the smugglers to adopt desperate tactics. This includes dropping off the migrants in deep waters along the Yemen coast. There has been a dramatic increase in the numbers of people over the last few weeks due to recent fighting in Somalia, the UN says. It adds that as many as 1,600 people in 20 boats have made the crossing during this period. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6358255.stm Allah yarxamhum why are our 'govnts' not doing anything to tackle this?

  18. ^^The guy has a big head and he French! Angry Eto'o hits out at Rijkaard Eto'o was La Liga's top scorer last season Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has hit out at Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard for saying he refused to play in Sunday's 2-0 win over Racing Santander. Rijkaard claimed the 25-year-old "didn't want to" come on as a second-half substitute. But Eto'o said: "Telling a news conference I didn't want to play is the behaviour of a bad person. "I've always thought about the group first. If anybody has balls, they should tell it to me face-to-face." Rijkaard had asked Eto'o, who recently returned to action after four months out with a knee injury, to come on in the closing minutes at the Nou Camp but the striker apparently rejected the request. "Eto'o warmed up but afterwards told (assistant coach) Eusebio he did not want to come on," said Rijkaard after the game. "I think it's a shame because every minute, every moment, can be important... I haven't spoken with him but I'm always prepared to talk to the players." There's a division in the changing room between two clans Samuel Eto'o Ronaldinho was also critical of Eto'o after the game, suggesting the striker had been inconsiderate to his team-mates. But Eto'o responded: "If a team-mate says that you must think of the team, it's up to him to think of the team. Personally I always think first about the group and then money." Barcelona's victory over Racing Santander, thanks to two goals from Ronaldinho, saw them open up a three-point lead at the top of La Liga. They are also through to face Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League, with Rijkard's side hosting the first leg on 21 February. However, Eto'o, last season's top scorer in La Liga, said a major rift had developed at the Catalan giants. "There's a division in the changing room between two clans: one is the president's and the other is someone else's," he said. "This is not my war, this is a war. I'm in the middle of a war between two people and I'm the one who is taking all the punishment. But I will return and return to play." Reports suggest the rift is between supporters of president Joan Laporta and those of former vice-president Sandro Rosell, who left the club after a disagreement with Laporta. Laporta earlier spoke out in support of Eto'o, denying the striker had refused to play on Sunday. "His knee needs time to warm up and he didn't have enough time. He preferred to be careful," Laporta told Spanish newspaper Marca. "He didn't do anything inappropriate or wrong. There is no way it can be deduced that Eto'o refused to play soccer for Barcelona." Eto'o did not attend training on Monday, choosing instead to work in the gym - apparently because of a painful knee. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/6353861.stm
