I see we are getting technical In predicting what the situation will be in lets say 2 years we do not have to base everything on facts, because we are predicting what the future will bring. We can use the situation on the ground today as our starting point and other historical precedents to predict how the situation will evolve. When the weatherman says it will rain tomorrow its probabaly because he has what he thinks is a tool which indicates exactly that. The main issue you have raised is that of Ethiopia influencing things in the horn (taa wa laisga ogaa) by using the Berbera Free Zone to put forward your point. This is where we have a problem. Your trying to use your small finger to try and lift an articulated lorry. SL will obviously be paid (no I have no proof). Will that money be used wisely? I dont know. But your main concern (some would say desire) was an Ethiopian occupation right? ps still wanna know where you got the 'Ethio troops will protect their investment' stuff.

Northerner you made a comparison between JAFZA and Berbera free trade zone. I have asked you for similarities, you couldn't provide them, because your comparison wasn't a valid one. And thats the point I was making. When did I compare the two? Note: I stated that JAFZA was a working 'example' (keyword). You dont me to define the word 'example' now do you? Making your point(s) invalid. it doesn't serve the local population in teh region, it only serves Ethiopia and the Ethiopians will soon be placing the North West region under direct control to protect their interests and even if the Ethiopians do not want to do that, they will be forced to protect those supply lines and station troops in the area. So all in all the move is not a positive one for the regions people. 1. How will it not help the local population? 2. How does it 'only' serve Ethiopia? 3. Anyone have any info on what happened in the last Ethio elections? Did the ONLF have a political wing? Did they win any seats? What is the number of Somalis in Ethiopia? etc I feel this is the only way for them to be 'free' ie if they take part in elections and 'win' a favourable situation, which leads to a period of peace and prosperity. 20 years down the line who knows they could be in charge and hold a referendum.
